@ilikebacon uh it’s not clean and it can carry pathogens. Best to pasteurize it before using on food you grow to eat. I mean if it’s just you eating it then who cares I guess but if it’s others eating your home grown veg etc then gross if ya not doing some kind of sterilization method before applying you can spread pathogens on to the veg etc. That’s why ya don’t pour it directly onto the plant. Putting on the soil if sufficient. Or even better put it on a compost pile and then let it sit for a while until the compost is ready and you have a very nutritious compost for the plants and the pathogens usually die in the process of composting.
To those who have property with forest coverage. This is what you do! The Forrest floor is basically compost that has collected in the Forrest floor over millions or the last time it was logged. Get a shovel & scoop up everything on the forest floor. Dead leafs , grass , twigs etc & use the shovel to get the top layer of soil. That soil is not soil It’s compost basically however it needs some nitrogen. So once you have gathered barrels of Forrest floor, take your green grass cuttings and add to it. Also put 3-4 news papers in each barrel & a few cut up card board boxes. (NO COLORED OR GLOSSY PAPERS) if it has a finish on it do not use it. Now all you do is start throwing you veggie & fruit waste that you don’t eat in the barrels. Once you have this combo of stuff in your barrel you then need to dump a 5 gallon bucket of pee in it. Get a metal Rod or something to stir it. This will start a chemical reaction and it will break down in a few months. You don’t have to use a barrel , you can do it right on the ground in a pile. I recommend both. Use the barrels for pee , but also pour several gallons on the pile on the ground. The pile on the ground will break down faster because you will use a pitch fork and stir it and flip it every couple days. You will notice its really hot. When it starts breaking down it’s BECAUSE It’s alive! It will get 140-160 degrees sometimes if you have big piles. But the barrels that you filled with Forrest floor , newspapers and cardboard boxes + green grass cutting you will see go from 100% full to 30% full in a couple months. It breaks down that much. Once it’s done that it’s done. However I would then mix it with your compost pile on the ground as the barrel that was full of pee is full of potassium Nitrate. There is no urine left! It is perfectly safe. The urine is gone when this chemical reaction takes place. If you deer Hunt, trap etc throw you caucuses In your pile and burry them. If you do this you will want to build a small fence around your pile or the animals will dig it out & steal all that nutrients. We set a trap beside our compost pile & the Varmint that tried to steal our Carcasses becomes a carcass lol. The dead animals , fish etc will just make your compost on steroids x10. What I recommend with those who fish, when you clean your fish you want to put all the remains , guts, bones, scales it’s in mason jars or sealed buckets & leave it out in the sun. These you will want sealed with no holes. What your wanting here is it to turn into a black nasty sludge & it will after a few months of being in these containers. Use it as a weekly dose of HOLY COW look at it grow sauce. You get one of those attachments that go on a water hose that allow you to mix things with the water as it comes out. You fill it with this fish sludge & my god it’s the garden of eden. the biggest tomatoes I ever grew was when we caught Sting rays & use the remains that you don’t eat & put them in a jar to rot. We then pours the sting Ray sludge into our top layer of compost and mixed it up. After planting our garden we then take their top layer and put it around the plants when they are a month or so into the veg process before they start to flower/fruit & you will see your garden explode. I wish I could Upload photos to the comments, it grew squash & zucchini that were nearly two feet long and over 12 Inches around. Honestly they were too big. Had we known they would be so big we would of planted far less of them. Also, your veggies that rot from falling on the ground, put them in your next years compost pile. It’s a never ending process of awesomeness. There is no reason to buy expensive miracle grow & compost is way better than MG. And it’s really cheap. In southern Missouri compost is so easy to make you can but an entire pickup truck load worth for $75. An entire truck bed for 75, and delivered for another $50. It would take hundreds of miracle grow bags to equal that and would cost you thousands. Happy gardening , don’t be scared of the pee

The salt in urine makes it dangerous to drink in anything but small quantities. I could understand someone who is dehydrated using it to wet their lips to reduce the discomfort, but trying to depend on it for even a day is just going to make the situation worse. There's a reason your body is expelling this as waste in the first place. The best you can do in a survival situation is set up a solar still to separate the water content from the salts and to drink the distilled water.
If we are okay and accepting of the idea of using cow and horse manure on the garden/compost, we can be okay with the idea of using humanurin and humanure on the garden/compost, just have to develop knowledge on how to use these waste products for the good of all :) Recycle, reuse, reuptake

I have been using urine on my flower garden for 3 years and the deep greens and vibrant colors are amazing. In my further research I read multiple books and learned urine is even more effective on human beings as a food, cure-all medicine, and soap. It has been such a pleasant surprise. Look into it.
Hey Mark, I've a question. Please reply if possible. If a 9 year old urinates on plant once and you don't dilute it, would it hurt that plant? It'd really help me, thanks.
"urine is even more effective on human beings as a food, cure-all medicine, and soap" It is none of these things. The first two are outright lies and downright dangerous. The third might be confusion arising from when laundries used urine as a bleaching agent, often before soap was available (this is how the Romans kept their linen togas white, for example, with laundries usually having buckets outside their doors for passers-by to contribute to). Just because you read something in multiple books doesn't make it true. There's an entire market of gullible people out there, people who aren't necessarily stupid but have just forgotten much of what they learned at school, ripe for exploitation by cynical authors and publishers willing to churn out anything which will sell. Please don't fall for it. Please don't kill yourself by drinking urine rather than seeing a doctor.
I think this is a great idea but be aware you pass small amounts of medications through your urine. If you’ve been avoiding sugar though you’re probably not taking any medications.
@@brianfitch5469 That depends entirely on what the medication is. Some are simply not decomposing like we were lead to believe they would--Prozac being a prime example. Give it a googling.
Wonderful location & garden! Had no idea Minneapolis had rural areas like yours. Fantastic to have a FREE fertilizer we can always count on having, no matter how unavailable or expensive purchased resources could become! *As long as the human urine used is medication free {meaning that urine from people taking medication should not be used.}

I turn wood on a lathe in the workshop and have an unlimited supply of wood shavings, with 99% being untreated green "firewood". I keep a pail full of shavings as a urinal, and the crazy thing is they somehow trap the urine odor while you fill it up. When it's ready to go out to the garden, i just mulch around the fruit trees with it. I think it sort of acts like time release medicine for the tree as I not only have never killed a tree, but quite the opposite. I planted 5 apple trees that were just 12" tall pencil twigs in 2015. One died that year, three served as controls and one was pee'd on for the last few years. The pee tree is nearly 10' tall and almost 2" thick at the base while the others are only about 6 feet tall and just over an inch at the base.
Great for activating biochar. Just one two no mixing and make sure your char is crushed or pulverized. You then add to your compost or soil. Keep in mind its super hot and can burn the roots; sparingly applied. The same with chicken manure, don't bury it.

Very good, sensible information. How often would you put pee tea on plants please, and do you use it on all vegetables? I'm thinking it would not be too good for peas and beans? Thank you.
I put it on transplants to give them a boost maybe once a week. It can go on everything because when it is diluted the nitrogen content isn't considered high and you are getting potassium and phosphorus as well.
I have a 5 litre container I piss in, been doing it for a decade, saves water for flushing, though my flush water is rain water harvested fed by gravity.
Completely ok. Urine is sterile 99% of the time, has no bacteria, mouth and hands have more bacteria than regulat urine. Urine has tons of Nitrogen, K, Phosphorus, magnesium, calcium, is acidic as well. I just need a guidance re recommended dilution?, I know it has to be diluted some?. Planning to use on bushes outside and oranges trees, I dont have vegetables.
It depends how alkaline or acidic your soil is. Mine looks black on top but under the first inch it's clay - so it's alright for super acidic clay soil to have pee or poo directly put around - because people with hard clay rock stuff Build On Top of the stuff. Like I put pee around where I plan for a huge potato mound to be - at the bottom layer - in another lasagna garden patch I made for strawberries and potatoes I put pine needles with nitrate on it as the bottom layer. It's about building on Top of the Poo or Pee & if it's fresh don't touch the plant or near it . Fresh poo basically never - it's better to mix it with water and make a manure tea for the plants. Like if my soil was super clay but also super DRY - and it was way more acidic - id use manure tea - but I don't need moisture or nitrogen - just minerals and bacteria It's about the soil - Best thing possible for any soil Is compost tea Throw layers in a barrel green brown filler with water cover it from mosqueters let it roast up shrink down get strong. Plants don't smell or taste their soil loves that stuff it's all the minerals and everything sucked up from around them turned to Vodka and they love it Impossible to overfertilize with compost tea Brewing my first barrels ! Here but a lot of Rocks too - so I've sprinkled clay dust on the Over Fertilized top of my soil - drier the better -
"Nature is Perfect. Water is Life and has memory..." So full of life that you can drown in two inches of water, and so perfect that saltwater fish can't survive for long in freshwater while freshwater fish can't survive in saltwater. I don't know what world you live in, but if you go around acting like nature is perfect then you won't stay alive for long. And the water won't remember you at all.
If you pour on the leaves, the plant is able to absorb nutrients a lot quicker than say if you were to fertilize the soil, you have to wait a bit to see results. This is good for people that may have really sandy soil, just water the leaves and they will absorb a ton of nutrients that way :) Just make sure its not too strong of a concentration of course!
Does it matter how old the pee is? I have read that the ammonia build up from aged pee could cause problems, have you had any problems with this? Thank you
Shouldn't be any problem. You still dillute it with water before watering your plants. Saw one video on youtube that ammonia can kickstart your compost. Cheers
When diluting pee, I use the so called "nitrogen tea" made with grass cuts + water that stands in a tank for 3 - 4 days. Sometimes, I add water with Epson salt that I use to soak my feet... Proportion? One part of urine + 2 parts of nitrogen tea + 5 to 7 parts of rain water. I use this on my fruit trees (prune and apple trees) when they start awakening to let them store nutrients... And I continue every 2 - 3 weeks after, especially after a rain, so the soil is wet and I can use less of that mixture. There's always a shortage of it, because I can 'produce' only a limited amount of urine... :) Results? - Amaizing! A small plum tree (of a classic Italian variety that sits in my orchard for 4 years) produced 2 buckets of the sweetest prunes last year. Since I have 3 such plum trees, I had to give out a half of my harvest and used the second part to make prune jam.
@Briston Knight Prune pie or prune bars are my fav. My mom dries prunes, and when she's going to make a pie she rehydrates the prunes by boiling, then takes the seeds out, adds sugar and ground cloves for the filling. Yum....just don't eat too much at one sitting. Hehehe
I make several things and mix. I do pee, worm casting tea, and collect weeds I gather into a bucket and let rainwater be on that to ferment for a week, mix a bit of all this together in the end and put into 2ltr bottles to store. I also buy SuperThrive as well for extra vitamins. Works beautifully.
I have to ask this having done a word-search for "control": did you give the equivalent quantity of water to your control plant? I am not a doubter, I've been recycling solid (easy) and liquid (difficult) human waste for 35 years on the farm where I live. [EDIT] I've read you can overdo the N on pee alone, mix 10g woodash per litre pee tea is one recommendation online, to balance the P and K.
A lot of people are grossed out at the thought that a person is collecting their urine, but...a whole days pee is enough to feed plants for a month.. even when it ferments, it just stinks, as long as the nitrogen doesn't off gas and the pee is kept in an airtight bottle, it is still safe to use. It is very potent stuff. You can throw in dead leaves into a tumbler, and without pee it will take a year to break down. Throw on some undiluted pee one every other day for a couple of weeks and that pile of leaves will be ready to use as compost in as little as a month.
Can you collect shower water with the urine? That way you would be utilizing urine and grey water, to water your garden. Have you experimented with that?
There are no hard and fast rules to mixing. 8:1 is what I saw somewhere along the way and it has worked fine. 10:1 may be worth trying and it will make the pee go further. Foliar feeding probably should be more dilute. I don't do a lot of that because I don't use a sprayer. just keep using it because it works and it is free.
I'm storing urine and wood ash together in a conteiner to use later. I wonder if it works with drip irrigation. Have you tried that or should I use your technique? Some other videos suggest only to irrigate the soil not the leaves. Good day!
I would think urine and wood ash together would clog up drip irrigation. Mostly I am using it on individual plants so I just hit the soil around the plant. If I am fertilizing a bed where the plants are closer together I will use a sprinkler head.
That's also what I'd like know.. I heard from people who practice Urine Therapy (detoxing their own bodies with their own pee) that results are even better with aged pee
You pour the pee tea right onto the leaves of the plants you're going to eat? I understand pouring it in the soil but... wow. I'm surprised by that. I'll have to research how it's sanitary.
Two or threes times within the first few weeks of getting plants in the ground. I would stick with 8:1 for drip irrigation (which sounds like a fine idea.)
Yeah, we couldn't help but imagine it splashing out all over him as he walked down that hill. Why not put a lid on those buckets? But better yet, just run another hose or two down to the garden and into a 55 gal drum down there. If I'd been doing that as long as he says he has, I sure would have come up with an improved system by now.

I wish I could
Upload photos to the comments, it grew squash & zucchini that were nearly two feet long and over 12 Inches around.

Yes, a lot of people drink it as a recuperation. Amazing results with these people
If we are okay and accepting of the idea of using cow and horse manure on the garden/compost, we can be okay with the idea of using humanurin and humanure on the garden/compost, just have to develop knowledge on how to use these waste products for the good of all :) Recycle, reuse, reuptake

I have been using urine on my flower garden for 3 years and the deep greens and vibrant colors are amazing. Hey Mark, I've a question. Please reply if possible. If a 9 year old urinates on plant once and you don't dilute it, would it hurt that plant? It'd really help me, thanks.
@@deepak842009 need more details, what kind of plant, ground or pot etc. But most likely one time no. A 9 year old doesn't have a large bladder.
"urine is even more effective on human beings as a food, cure-all medicine, and soap"
It is none of these things.
I think it sort of acts like time release medicine for the tree as I not only have never killed a tree, but quite the opposite. I planted 5 apple trees that were just 12" tall pencil twigs in 2015. One died that year, three served as controls and one was pee'd on for the last few years. This takes the annoyance out of having to stop whatever you’re doing to go pee.
I love the idea, but what about the salt build up in the soil? The garden area was looking a little patchy.
Like if my soil was super clay but also super DRY - and it was way more acidic - id use manure tea - but I don't need moisture or nitrogen - just minerals and bacteria
It's about the soil -
Best thing possible for any soil

I too pee in a milk jug to make free fertilizer for my back yard garden. Truth be told sometimes I pee directly on the plants 🌱
You actually pour it right on the leaves?! I would have thought just in the soil.

@@bristonknight9315 Yes!!!! This is amazing! I've seen similar results. Definitely going to try that ''tea'' recipe.

Good for you. That's way more ambitious than what I do.
Looks like you've got other things to deal with in your garden, like the huge holes that are worms eating the leaves of your (guessing) lettuce ?
I have to ask this having done a word-search for "control": did you give the equivalent quantity of water to your control plant? I am not a doubter, I've been recycling solid (easy) and liquid (difficult) human waste for 35 years on the farm where I live. [EDIT] I've read you can overdo the N on pee alone, mix 10g woodash per litre pee tea is one recommendation online, to balance the P and K.
Pee has salt. Over time it can be a problem. I do not discourage its occasional use but be careful using it too often.
Commercial fertilizer has a lot of salt as well.
I use 10:1 ratio. How often is it safe to use? Weekly or bi weekly? Thank you.
Do you mix anything with the pee? Do those buckets with the Pee Tea smell like vats of urine? I"m worried about the smell.
Thanks :)
Interesting thankyou. But one control plant is not enough. That can be a multitude of reasons that one single plant might be smaller.
How often do you use the peealizer?
A lot of people are grossed out at the thought that a person is collecting their urine, but...a whole days pee is enough to feed plants for a month.. even when it ferments, it just stinks, as long as the nitrogen doesn't off gas and the pee is kept in an airtight bottle, it is still safe to use. It is very potent stuff. You can throw in dead leaves into a tumbler, and without pee it will take a year to break down. Throw on some undiluted pee one every other day for a couple of weeks and that pile of leaves will be ready to use as compost in as little as a month.
It works really good on tomatoes. I use it.

Thanks so much for the 1:8 ratio formula.
Hi, can you please clarify the dilution ratio? Many resources say 10:1 for base watering and 20:1 for foliar feeding. Yours is 8:1. Thanks so much!

Do you think letting the pee rest in the 55 gallon barrel for days or weeks makes the pee a better fertiliser?
That's also what I'd like know.. I heard from people who practice Urine Therapy (detoxing their own bodies with their own pee) that results are even better with aged pee
No it does not make it a better fertilizer. At best the concentration or ppm will rise due to small amounts of evaporation depending how you store it.
You pour the pee tea right onto the leaves of the plants you're going to eat? I understand pouring it in the soil but... wow. I'm surprised by that. I'll have to research how it's sanitary.
How often do you water plants with this pee/water combo? What ratio would be safe if used as drip irrigation?
Two or threes times within the first few weeks of getting plants in the ground. I would stick with 8:1 for drip irrigation (which sounds like a fine idea.)
