*This video sadly marks the end of an era...* This will be the last original episode in this format and in a couple of weeks you'll see a brand new one! When I say 'see', I mean you'll definitely be seeing a lot of more of me in more ways than one. In the meantime, you'll get a filler video and a compilation of Point Defiance's tours rolled into one - then I'll kick off a new era with our biggest video yet... Stay tuned!
*Question of the Episode:* What is an animal that you imagined would look completely different before you finally saw it in person? I have two answers, and one of them you can hear about in the video. The other example is the Aye-Aye. I have the privilege of seeing two at least once a month, and its size surprises me every time. In my head, no matter how many times I see them, I'm always convinced they're about the size of a grey squirrel. In reality, I'm then reminded that they're actually about 2.5 feet+ long.

What do you mean? Will you still be doing tours?
Well, we chose the Singapore Zoo.

What about the Children's Zoo
Thank you so much ch for introducing me to this amazing zoo. I really need to go check it out sometime
Polar bears look really cool
Glad you mentioned Minnesota zoo's musk oxen, that zoo at one point was one of the top spots for musk oxen breeding since the 70s
Another fantastic episode definitely makes me want to visit Point Defiance one day.
As for the question of the episode definitely the walrus for because I thought they were related to manatees because they looked similar in books and I also thought they were smaller but not only they were much bigger than I imagined but they are related to seals and sea lions instead.
Overall can’t wait for the next episode and the biggest video of the channel so far
For me the animal that I imagined that I saw was different had to be the sloth bear and the reason why it was different is because when you think of a sloth you think of something very slow and lazy but when I saw the sloth bear it was the opposite of a sloth it was still slow but instead of being lazy it was active.
Swell! And the animal that I saw is completely different had to be the Sichuan Takin! And, Zak, hope that you will visit the Woodland Park Zoo sooner or later! And also, 8 zoo trivia questions for you & your girlfriend..
1) What year did the Oakland Zoo recently held a mosquito attraction way back?
2) How many Egyptian Vultures did the San Diego Zoo Safari Park housed in their walkthrough attraction?
3) About which zoos in the world are notable for housing proboscis monkeys in their Monkey House attractions?
4) What year did the Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium originally exhibited jackrabbits in their Desert Dome attraction?
5) How many zoos around the world are famous for housing stinkbugs in their Insect Zoo attractions?
6) How many aquariums around the world are known to house unicorn fishes in their tank displays?
7) How many zoos around the world are notable for housing night crawler worms in their Insect Zoo attractions?
8) Since the Sacramento Zoo is moving to Elk Grove sooner or later, what year would you wish for the zoo to build a new Chinstrap Penguin Island exhibit?
Definitely beavers for me. Idk why I thought they’d be like other sized, but the ones at the Montreal Biodome looked massive.
Go to the Calgary Zoo, the Alaska Zoo, or the Musk Ox Farm to see more musk ox! And yeah, they’re a lot smaller than most people think they are
By looking at books I though spoonbills were flamingo sized. Very surprised to see how tiny they are.
The second paddock was previously caribou. They also use to have a walkthrough Arctic bird exhibit next to musk ox. And for years they had a particularly small muskox in the old petting zoo area(that barn is now the food court).
I usually see the muskox when I'm driving down to owen beach through the spot low in the wall.
I’ve always wanted to see musk ox
@@Jgimple I can remember the first time I saw a musk ox and I forget what year but it was at the Oregon zoo and like before predators of the Serengeti they had an exhibit with animals from the arctic tundra and it had wolves, brown bears and musk ox and I can remember that since I first saw the musk ox it has been one of my favorite animals ever and still is.
I had a similar moment with size when I saw a rhea. I assumed they were a little closer to an an emu, but they looked only a couple feet tall.
I believe the Alaska Zoo still has MuskOx, so maybe not the last time if you make it up there.
Sloths were a lot bigger than i thought
Dik dik
And just saying but if you go up to Alaska the Alaskan zoo has musk ox but they also have another animal however this other animal is not found in any zoos in the contiguous us and this animal is called the Sitka deer which is a subspecies of the mule deer aka the black tailed deer.
Can you do the Minnesota zoo
Fun fact I have never seen a musk ox before
And just saying but I think you should go to the como zoo and the reason is because they have a species of sheep which besides the bighorn sheep is the only other wild sheep native to North America and this species is called the dall sheep aka the thin horn sheep and they are different than bighorn sheep and their differences are that dall sheep are smaller in size and smaller in size of their horns while bighorn sheep are bigger and have bigger horns however another difference between the bighorn and dall sheep is that the bighorns have a range that extends from southwestern Canada to Mexico while the Dall sheep ranges from northwestern Canada all the way up to Alaska and another big difference between the two is that the dall sheep are adapted to survive the heavy snowfall and harsh weather conditions of the Arctic and Alaska.
Can you do Singapore zoo
I was expecting a Malayan Tapir to look smaller than it is.
I thought wombats where way smaller before I saw one
