Buster Crabbe is a forgotten name now, but his Flash Gordon movies, chopped up into episodes for syndication, were still being shown on British TV in the early 1970s when I saw them. I loved them then and they still have a period art deco charm now
Arthur Dent: You know, I've always had this feeling there was some greater purpose. Slartibartfast: No, that's just ordinary paranoia. Everybody in the Universe has that. 😊
As a little kid in the 60's they would have an episode of Flash or Buck Rodgers on TV before school every day. I never knew what was going on but it looked cool.
THIS is what I call classic, wonderfully entertaining, fun, adventurous, fantastic, exciting entertainment!! Thank you guys for bringing us back this gem!! More please
I'm born 1990, but I think I shall look these through sometime! It's great to see what inspired many things to come way later like Star Wars, Star Trek, Doctor Who, The Fifth Element, Krull, Guardians of the Galaxy, Futurama.
I like it when the movie makers color-code the characters so I know who to cheer for during the fight scenes. IGUANAS TAKE THEIR RIGHTFUL PLACE IN THE UNIVERSE.
as others have posted, i watched these in reruns as a little kid with no idea how old these serials were. same deal with the Our Gang comedies, i figured as a very young kid that Spanky et al were still little kids themselves, but i was off by many decades. i had no understanding of old cars and clothing styles at that age. despite the low-budget science fiction, i definitely enjoyed Flash.
Flesh Gordon is the best B movie ever, maybe best movie ever, I do like the noir comedy : Eating Raoul, and the parody Saturday the 14th (the day after)
As much as I adore Star Wars, part of me wishes I lived in the universe where Lucas was able to get the rights to Flash Gordon, which is what he originally wanted to do.
im so glad you posted this ive been wanting to watch it since i know its one of the things that inspired star wars and see where some things might have origanated from just a fun way of seeing how nothing is created in a vacuum that can make somthing wholly new
Quite enjoyable if you focus on the plot and story. I am not at all bothered with old special effects it actually enhances the experience if you appreciate the old fashion theatrical acting. You can clearly see the inspiration given to "future" Sci-Fi that followed decades that followed and til today.
i never thought it would be up to me to either save ming the mercelles or kill him. you are not going to co nnect the cntrols ? no. walks over to a wall and throws a giant frankinstien switch and locks the tower doors and the doors to the cavern.
My brother and I used to watch Flash Gordon on WPIX out of NYC. We were disappointed when they would not let us PA folk get that NYC channel anymore. It has lots of old movies on it. Now my kids do not understand why I want want to watch old black and white movies.
I used to lift weights with Mr Crabbe. Scottsdale AZ. He was about 70 and in good shape ! Still looked like a movie star. Very nice man!
Did he tell you any anecdotes about his days in Flash Gordon?
Did you see Izzy Mandelbaum ?
Cool
did he touch you?
@@slimeshady9284 😂
Man, Jean Rogers was a BABE! 😍
Ahh, this was where the inspiration for Star Wars' opening crawl came from.
Music, too.
My dad watched this as a kid 🧒. I watched as a kid in the 70’s 😅
and I'm watching as a 47 grown up in 2024
me too
Me three😁😁😝😝
Me four the best of the flash Gordon serials

From Terence Wise in UK.......I saw these films as a child in the early 1950s at Saturday morning pictures in a cinema in South London.

What happened to the audio (sound)
They were on TV in Britain in the 70s. Grew up with them.
I was still watching these as a kid at Saturday morning pictures in the seventies in Harlow
THIS is what I call classic, wonderfully entertaining, fun, adventurous, fantastic, exciting entertainment!! Thank you guys for bringing us back this gem!! More please
my favorite movie is FLESH GORDON, this is hilarious to see after!
The 'music' was what I always liked about this particular Flash Gordon serial. Especially the music, that 'opened' every episode.
A lot of the background score was taken from "Les Preludes," a symphony by Franz Liszt.
Must be where Star Trek The Neutered Generation got the idea. Non-stop crisis music.
@@sinz52 the Germans used to start their news in the cinema with the same music, after the attack on Russia!
why not, its German music anyway!
I'm born 1990, but I think I shall look these through sometime! It's great to see what inspired many things to come way later like Star Wars, Star Trek, Doctor Who, The Fifth Element, Krull, Guardians of the Galaxy, Futurama.
I hope you also show the 1939 Buck Rogers serial. That one is really good and also has Buster Crabbe as the titular character
It’s on you tube
I remember watching these episodes with my Dad. This was his Star Wars of the day, when he was a kid.
Now I see where Marvin Martian and Star Trek got their inspiration from! 🤖
"Do what you will with the others, but bring me the Earthman, Flash Gordon!" - -Ming
This is too neat. Thanks for uploading.
Takes me back to my childhood when this was on TV during the summer school holidays.
Love old cheese, those fights, those sfx, and so much more.
The last of the 3 Flash Gordon serials. The first from 1936 is the best but this one is excellent too.
Purple death..precursor to covid 19.
Saw this when I was 5 years old. Loved it. The big gorilla with the horns scared the hell out of me.
LOL
I remember going to the cinema Saturday matinee to watch this every week. Small BAR 6 and a ginger-beer.
Great opening theme!!
EMPEROR MING is my spirit animal 😂
You do realise he is doing that because he is a sick IMPOTENT?
What a gift. Thanks. I've been yearning to watch these again.
Agree totally, it was a different time. I remember waiting for the chapter, one whole week. Torture😢 2:22:22
Flash Gordon Coquers the Universe ❤
I like it when the movie makers color-code the characters so I know who to cheer for during the fight scenes. IGUANAS TAKE THEIR RIGHTFUL PLACE IN THE UNIVERSE.
A death dust that kills only those with intelligence? No wonder these supervillains complain about being surrounded by idiots!
Twenty years before my time, but I always enjoy a classic show. Thanks.
Crow: "Sigmund the Sea Monster's got me😂

Science Fiction movies from the time of our grand-fathers.
Somehow, projecting a naive charm.

this is gold for free
"FLASH! . . . Ah-ahhh! . . . Savior of the Universe!"
I change to Liv Tyler, and a boy too and love Buster Crabbe to death and acted in these!
Theyre so far in the future that they dress like Robin Hood lol
They had to reuse the costumes for all the shows/films.
An essential piece of Americana. Pure imagination.
The inside of the spaceships got a lot bigger.
Il primo serial !!oh oh oh notevole😮😮👍👍👍bravi grazie per la visione
The Evil Emperor Wang… Oh wait, that was Flesh Gordon.
and professor Jerkov!
Flesh Gordon is the best B movie ever, maybe best movie ever, I do like the noir comedy : Eating Raoul, and the parody Saturday the 14th (the day after)
Haha wearing swords in the space ship! And the smoke from the engines going up like a cigar…. So many ridiculous things in the movies of those times1
Nice
As much as I adore Star Wars, part of me wishes I lived in the universe where Lucas was able to get the rights to Flash Gordon, which is what he originally wanted to do.
The best was Flesh Gordon and the Beaver dam incident.
I have to admit I liked the 80s film as well. Guilty pleasures.
I agree 100%, and I don't mind admitting it. 😅
Saw young Perry white from Superman
Good estreno.Ssludos FROM Argentina.
Cool 😊
It's my first time enjoying this jewel, I born circa 1972. I'm feel damn lucky!
He wasnt bluffing. 💥
Flash is so fearless and bold ! Look at the way he comes down the landing steps ! 7:09 He jumps them all . Normal men come down one step at a time.

Can you colorize this like you did with the 1936 serial?
Ming , skinny version of Pizza the Hut !!!!!!
Buster Crabbe died in 1983. Did he watch Star Wars?
i never thought it would be up to me to either save ming the mercelles or kill him. you are not going to co nnect the cntrols ? no. walks over to a wall and throws a giant frankinstien switch and locks the tower doors and the doors to the cavern.
Very strange this is the music also used for the Third Reich's official news broadcasts on the invasion of the Soviet Union.
"They're trying to bomb us" said to the person flash is standing next too 😅. Are the scripts taken straight from the radio series?
Les Preludes!
WONDER IF HUMANS GOT TO MARS SAY COUPLE HUNDRE YEARS FROM NOW THIS COULD BE NEW EARTH . I WILL BE LONG GONE MANY GENERATIONS AFTER ME SO I WANT KNOW

me: hey, you wanna hear the most annoying sound in the world?
😝😝😝🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂!! So true😂😂😂😝😝😝🤣🤣🤣….
The sound effect for the engines gave my ears cancer.
The actor playing flash is awful. On the other hand Ming is a delight.
MING! The merciless!
Jose Ferrer (DUNE) was a far better and merciful Emperor of the Known Universe than this cruel one.
