Gran Turismo - Gold Prize Demo Cheat

- This cheat allows you to get gold prizes by getting any time (above bronze) on license tests. If you have more than one memory card, you can save the new game to a second MC and then trade the prize cars to your main garage.
For this cheat you will need only two things: a demo disc containing a GT demo and a GT disc (orly?). Start a race in the demo and replace the demo disc with the GT disc. When you exit the race, it will take you to the game's intro instead of the Arcade Mode menu. From there you will be able to easily get the prize cars by golding all license tests.
Caution: do not load your own savegame, otherwise the demo effect (evidenced by the absolute lack of sound) will be gone.
if only i knew it when i was 8 years old! I could have finish the game in its release year. Not in like 2000 :)
thanks! I only discovered a bug using the same technique, but changing different region versions of the Gran Turismo disc you could end up racing against different cars or weird glitchy cars(only looks though).

(MMRivit here) I actually read about it in a thread on GTPlanet, then I tried it out and, since it seemed to be a rather unknown trick, decided to upload a video about it.

Teach me step by step how you did that thanks
1. Start the GT demo (the kind you find in demo discs)
2. Start a race and then quit it
3. In the post-race screen, replace the demo disc with the retail game disc
4. Quit to the main menu
If done correctly, there will be no sound and any license tests you try will always give you gold. Don't load previously saved data or else the effect will be gone.
Lamar I was beat the game before 18 yrs, have all gold (regular) now I would like start from zero, and I can use this cheat and save the game (dont have previus saved game) so I dont need to fight to get all licence gold? Thnx.

Let me guess, this Hack/Cheat isn't possible on the European version.
Actually it is. You just have to swap the discs while the opening demo is playing then press start. The audio gets set to zero but that's not a downside that can't be fixed in the options menu (I used Official UK Playstation Magazine volume 17 demo). I should note however that upon loading the game this way menus will look different than normal and there is a slight chance of the game crashing suddenly. For this reason I recommend saving ASAP then resetting your console.
It is there it loads the USA version of the game that is on the UK/Europe game disc.
I tried this glitch and did it step by step but... When I would put the actual game in it would freeze at the main menu of the demo. Not sure what I'm doing wrong?
