I had the Varedero after doing my CBT. I picked it because it was the biggest 125 I could find and I wanted something with fairly wide tyres due to my 35 mile (each way) commute to work on little country lanes. Agree that it is a very comfortable bike and I never had any issues with it at all. I miss it actually! Great review mate
Absolutely great review. I sat on one of these today at my local motorcycle shop and it's bloody massive. It was parked next to a 2011 yamaha YBR 125 and a suzuki GSXR750 SRAD. This bike was bigger than both of them. If your wondering I am 5 foot 4 and I could get 1 foot flat on floor and 2 feet on tip toes but stable. Ride safe all.
+Two Wheel Review Cool. I thought it was best to say as I'm a "smaller" rider being 5 foot 5. It will give riders like me a perspective. There are also lowering kits for it but to be honest if your 5 foot 5 or over, you will not need them.
I've had this bike for 2 years and I'm 6ft6 with 36 inch inseam...very comfortable bike and I honestly don't know if I want to swap it out for a more powerful bike! For a London commute, it's got plenty of pull and It carries my fat arse with ease at 65/70mph...This bike fits me like a glove and is the definition of reliability!
I'm just about to sit my CBT and I was nervous as I am 6ft5 and concerned as to whether i would find a 125 that i could fit my big ass on. Do you reckon this is the way to go for 125's?
I've just took delivery of mine, OMG it's massive and weighs a tonne - a bit of a culture shock coming from a Speedfight2 scooter but I can't wait to get riding this weekend.
I've just bought a 2012 version so one of the last ones for the UK market and I know from your video and similar that I've made a great choice. Thanks 😎👍
Really love your reviews man, so clean and in depth. Would love to have on of these for my west Europe trip, but due to cost saving, hopefully my WR can hold out xD
Well it’s like most 125’s On fuel I should imagine I deliver food on a 110 Honda vison Moped’s are a lot better for jumping on and off …. The only benefit to this bike I should imagine is that you can Put bigger barrel on it And being a Honda it should be okay with it I should imagine you could easily go up by 25-30 cc On each bank So you’d go from a 125 too a 175 It don’t sound a lot but I bet it would be just the job It’s a Honda so is a good bike And that would be fine It would go from 70 mph Flat out to being able to site at 70 mph Because of the extra cc You could go one tooth up on the front sprocket ⚙️ Obviously the only reason to do this is if you 17 and can’t have anything bigger
Are the fuel injected bikes better than the carbs or how do they compare? Im currently looking to buy one to try as a stepping stone to getting my licence and then something bigger perhaps. Reliability is my biggest priority.
I'm 60 and 5'11" and I've just bought one for fun local riding. It's a brilliant little bike. I've got 11 bikes in all, the Varadero wins on comfort, safe riding feel, handling, and convenience. The closest bigger bike to the Varadero is the BMW F650. I may have to get one of those next.
One Down Five Up Really appreciate the kind words mate! How long have you had the rs50 for I used to own an rs50 as my first bike, it was awesome! Always sat at 10k rpm and never had a problem, the rs125 on the other hand different story! :D
+Two Wheel Review I've had it since august, it hasn't let me down yet, starts first time every time and runs perfectly. I've seen your review of the rs125 and I was considering perhaps getting one for my next bike because they seem really fun, but I think I'm going to get a 4 stroke since they're much less hassle :)
Hi, I'm thinking about getting my motorcycle llicense and I'm pretty tall (6`8"). I'm planning on getting a wr125x or a varadero xl125. Which bike would you think is the best fit for my length?
+Two Wheel Review no, not yet.. I'll get My license this spring. So, i read as much reviews as possible, watch as many reviews and test rides i can trying to make up My Mind as to what Kind of bike i want. I know that i don't want something with multiple RR's in the name or a huge displacment bike.. I really like small to mid size displacment bikes, Dualsport bikes, Adventurebikes or naked bikes. As soon as i get My license i'll start test riding.
Wonderful information you produced about the bike. And your Europe trip on the bike and many other videos have tempted me to get one, may I ask what they are like for green laneing?
+"BIKER FURY" Thank you very much :) I've taken the varadero greenlaning a few times, the tyres perform surprisingly well however the bikes weight works against it making it not the most nimble machine on the dirt, I did find standing on the pegs made a lot of difference however wouldn't suggest doing anything too extreme.
Hey Amber! +Two Wheel Review hey! Thanks for getting back, yeah I'll definitely test a few out before hand. The Varadero does seem like an all rounder though, can't believe you toured with it! Are there any similar bikes you'd suggest, for a shortie in particular? The Yamaha YBR would be size ideal but not for motorways or long hauls.
Two Wheel Review I'm 192 cm and 18 years old..Do you think this bike would fit or not? If you have any sugestions on any other bike please let me know...thank you for your time
hello. my friend crashed his 2005 version and has no engine Damage but like farings and other damages i can repair for like £450 and he wants to sell the bike for £500. is it worth it . i only bad is the fors are bent but i dont think they are badly and that they could be realigned. so is it worth it? .thanks. also the i cant find any bike for sale and which i also really like that model and quite rare .
Hi boys.. My varadero is 50k, garaged for 1 year I noticed was difficult to start , now bought a new battery.. What you recommend to do before to ride..
So, If I'm currently in process of getting full A licence, and would be getting my first bike for rural areas driving, rural city and some good green lanes, would it be silly to go for varadero 125? I just want my first bike to not overwork itself in speeds up to 80km/h (50mph) so I dont go like 10k rpm at those speeds, and that its good on fuel, with softer suspension. Should I even be looking at XL125, or just go for YBR250 for about same price? I also want my bike to be fuel injected.
+Break Man The Varadero comfortably cruises at 60mph at around 8k rpm i took the bike around Europe cursing at 65mph for hours, dead reliable engine! Greenlaning wise the varadero is very heavy for a 125 which makes it difficult when stuck in deep ruts! However with fuel injection 70-80mpg is easily achieved! Really a matter of what you like :)

With regular maintenance and servicing. Easily outlast the bike. There's one that's had its second engine rebuild that's currently clock 299,000 miles on the forum
nice bike last time i rode a 125 it was a honda cb125j in 1976 single still remember the engine ticking when cooling down. what happened to the chain guard on your bike? as you say any bike you ride can get you anywhere just look at the man rode a 125 postie bike from Australia to the uk and much slower than yours.
For the love of god please clean that bike, and do something about the rusty parts... I have owned 125 dero great bike, but it just wasnt for me (im too small) Currently own Rieju RS3 NKD 125 :)
wasn't too fussed when I got rid of mine, but I want it back, I might get a transalp 650 or a varadero1000 because the power to weight ratio is shocking on the 125 I just couldn't take the terrible top end, some days I saw 70 if I was lucky, most of the time I was hanging around 64 ish
I love mine but has anyone ever managed to increase the capacity and therefore power? I personally like the standard exhausts quietness because a lot of noise would only accentuate the fact that it’s already a sheep in wolfs clothing! I have a hankering to go touring for sure.
Carb model returns better mpg if you're careful with it, the tyres are crap but early bikes had Pirelli MT90's as an option, I have them on mine and they're a great dual purpose tyre. I've ridden mine around France and I'm going again next year. Tall screen/hand guards/brembo brake pads are worthwhile add-ons 👍🏻
Hi Harvey from Sunny Spain:), loved the review along with all the other vids you´ve done..., great viewing. Is Africa still on the cards, if so what do you think you´ll be riding? I know what you mean about the hazardous winds here( You mentioned on your journey back from Gib), I´ve have nearly come a cropper on a few occasions on the N332 between Murcia and Alicante on my baby Vara. Have not long fitted a center stand, a must (good shout) if you are doing your own maintenance. Mine´s a carb 05 model, love it, Ok it´s not going to really excite, compared to other more modern 125´s performance but will go on and on (Huge tank, great build quality to boot) and great for tall riders Popped on a belly cowl which saves a lot of crud being baked onto the exhaust and presently trying out an oil temp gauge. Isn´t the fuel cap a pain (As in.. where do you put it when you fill up)? Rant over. Keep up the good work, your footage is great entertainment
Hey Kai sorry for the late reply just seen your comment! Africa is still in the horizion its just down to the funds, I'm aiming for next year :) I usually put the fuel cap on the little desk next to the pump Thanks for the comment and have fun on the vara!
Honda discontinued this because the engine was crap the cylinder at the back wouldn't get much cooling and was prone to blowing up. Also the weight was too much for the power output of the engine as it was cheaper and lighter to just make a 125 with a single cylinder
+Two Wheel Review For me it's never too cold for riding unless the temperature is subfreezing since no one likes ice on the road. I wish I had the new model with fuel injection because there are no problems with syncing the carbs, no chokes, everything is adjusted automatically. I have a 125WR too with 2 300 km on the odo, also a very good bike. You earned a sub. Sorry for bad english
60k miles unheard of for 600cc let alone 125?????? riiiiiight.... thats simply not true thought is it... 60k miles is nothing on a bike engine, just a quick look on ebay will show 60k+ hell it'll show many many with 150k plus, some with 250k plus and a look on google shows 500k+ on bikes. Don't make things up.
No, he's not...I know a man who bought a Varadero 125 in 2001, has been riding it until now and it has 210k miles with the original engine. Now it's you who's talking shit...
+Lubova Videa Ironic coming from the random internet user who just came up with an unconfirmed unsubstatiated story he has no way of proving or even knowing for sure himself because in said story its not your fucking bike so you only know what hes told you. Idiot.
If you add an aftermarket pipe like I have, you can get Atleast 86mph on a flat (Ovbiously on a private road) Put some Brembo carbon ceramic pads in and it stops on a dime ;) getting some Contigo's on mine come the time they need replacing :D
+Ethan Senior Love the upgrades Ethan! Bet you're looking forward to the contigo's! ive heard cracking reviews on them from varadero owners My speedo only goes up to 80 :D
***** It did help actually! I'm not going to argue with you as I know it helped as I ride the bike daily so I know the machine inside out! On the other hand you haven't ridden my bike so won't have a clue if it helped or not...
The most exhaustion Pipes will reduce ur maximum Power, there are many tests aut there (not the Caradero) but as an exaple, every aftermarket Pipe reduce the Power of the BMM R1200 GS auround 1 to 3bhp...
Offically the production stopped 2013 maby the Honda Reseller found some unused Varaderos in his Garage ;D I think the bigges Problem with the Varadero is that the 2007 Update didnt come with ABS!
to make it new look, CRC tire shine!!! on the tire on the dash and into all black materials....gives shine and water resistan coating! just fir 3-7 euros....this is best hack ever!
What sort of Deliveroo bikes do you see? Most are mopeds or YBRs! For a 125 this bike is probably my favourite in terms of looks, but each to their own.

What is similar MC to varafero 125 but stonger? Do we have something with 300_400cc?
it's not heavy, it's got a massive fuel tank.
Its 149 kg + oil, coolant and fuel
Just got myself an identical 07 plate. Love it. Doesn't feel like a 125 at all.

hi Harvey what bike are you riding now four years on i still have my varadero as i have two of them
Cheers buh iv been looking at some bikes for long distances and this video has helped me make my mind up cheers for making the vid
I own the 2004 carbureted version and it has no fuel gage but everything else lol and I love it too bits great review mate.
is it good for food delivery?
Well it’s like most 125’s
On fuel I should imagine
I deliver food on a 110 Honda vison
Moped’s are a lot better for jumping on and off ….
The only benefit to this bike I should imagine is that you can
Put bigger barrel on it
And being a Honda it should be okay with it
I should imagine you could easily go up by 25-30 cc
On each bank
So you’d go from a 125 too a 175
It don’t sound a lot but I bet it would be just the job
It’s a Honda so is a good bike
And that would be fine
It would go from 70 mph
Flat out to being able to site at 70 mph
Because of the extra cc
You could go one tooth up on the front sprocket ⚙️
Obviously the only reason to do this is if you 17 and can’t have anything bigger
Are the fuel injected bikes better than the carbs or how do they compare? Im currently looking to buy one to try as a stepping stone to getting my licence and then something bigger perhaps. Reliability is my biggest priority.

I've taken the varadero greenlaning a few times, the tyres perform surprisingly well however the bikes weight works against it making it not the most nimble machine on the dirt, I did find standing on the pegs made a lot of difference however wouldn't suggest doing anything too extreme.
Do you think I'd be comfortable with the bike height as a 5"3, 110lb girl?? Or would a CBR 125 be better fitting? Thanks X

I have a 2006 one. it is so much fun to Ride.
+Lee78072
I Love the vara too!
Honda Varadero XL 125 year 2016 limited edition is coming!
+StarskiPL
I don't believe you :)
+Two Wheel Review Oh yeah? www.doble.co.uk/latest-news/honda-xl125v-varadero-its-back.php
@@StarskiPL Did it come out? dont think so
@@OFaruk58 it didn't... :( So I took some lessons and got motorcycle driving license and bought 600cc
Iv never seen any motorcycle do over 100k miles without a rebuild. You're talking shit.
Idiot.
Don't call me an idiot, I've seen the bike many times and know that man in person, so shut up when you don't know what's going on, keyboard warrior :)
+Lubova Videa Of course you do, you really love demonstrating irony dont you. Idiot.
If you add an aftermarket pipe like I have, you can get Atleast 86mph on a flat (Ovbiously on a private road) Put some Brembo carbon ceramic pads in and it stops on a dime ;) getting some Contigo's on mine come the time they need replacing :D
+Ethan Senior
Love the upgrades Ethan!
Bet you're looking forward to the contigo's!
ive heard cracking reviews on them from varadero owners
My speedo only goes up to 80 :D
***** It did help actually! I'm not going to argue with you as I know it helped as I ride the bike daily so I know the machine inside out! On the other hand you haven't ridden my bike so won't have a clue if it helped or not...
The most exhaustion Pipes will reduce ur maximum Power, there are many tests aut there (not the Caradero) but as an exaple, every aftermarket Pipe reduce the Power of the BMM R1200 GS auround 1 to 3bhp...
how tall are u? :)
+Worty he said in the video, 5 foot 8 and he can fit 2 flat feet on the ground

He's 5.8 and he flat footed it
Bring back the Honda varadero xl125cc just up date a bit
+Charmaine Stimpson
I agree its a brilliant bike however has been discontinued :/
+Two Wheel Review Only in the UK as far as I know. Here in Norway, they still sell the Varadero.
Jensfos
No way!
Thats awesome
Offically the production stopped 2013 maby the Honda Reseller found some unused Varaderos in his Garage ;D
I think the bigges Problem with the Varadero is that the 2007 Update didnt come with ABS!
lmao my carb 04 has got 260 miles on a tank ??
What about weight? Can it run with a fat fuck like me on board?
my dad's 6 foot 4 around 95kg and cruises at 60/65 all day
+Two Wheel Review So if I lose weight it'll be ok. Thanks for the reply man.
C'eist se de-prasala voor da mala.
Love it
+Jordan Woods
Cheers RB
Many a Honda CB500 out there with 130,000+ miles. So not so unheard of then.
Not on the same engine... guaranteed it has replaced engine parts in that time.
+eraldorh just... no. Honda and Yamaha engines are indestructible if taken care about.
I had one... It had 75000 km under his belt
Varadero: no need for engine warning light, its next to impossible to break it
Great review,10/10
+sobahorse
Thanks :)
Great bike, but the Honda NC750X-DCT will return 100mpg on a run...
125 ??? Она может ехать ???
Nice hp for a 125cc
to make it new look, CRC tire shine!!!
on the tire on the dash and into all black materials....gives shine and water resistan coating! just fir 3-7 euros....this is best hack ever!
+GAMINGFOREXPERTS
Not bad thanks for the suggestion!
Why is your father that tall and you don't? Is it your biological father?
What the hell of a question is this??? My friend is 6.5 he's twin sister is 5.5 idiot
Btw*
I have that bike
*tachometer
This bike deserves a hard cleaning.
the bike looks ugly as fk, looks like a deliveroo bike, much better alternatives out there, only decent like I see on it is the v twin desighn
Look at the 650 or 700 Transalp then u see there are many more ugly bikes aut there ;D
What sort of Deliveroo bikes do you see? Most are mopeds or YBRs! For a 125 this bike is probably my favourite in terms of looks, but each to their own.
Aprilia sx 125 or ktm exc 125 is best looking for me
+kamil laguna lol, so you're one of THOSE
... But the varadero is much more fun u can drive 800km a day nothing hurts thats why i wanna buy a biggger Varadero ;)
this guy is a mong XD
