Hello, I'm planning to buy the BY-WM4 PRO k3 I think is very similar to this one but the receiver is specific for an iphone. My question is, can I connect a diferent microfone to the transmitter? Or i only can use the microfone that cames with the pack?
Hi Gamealot. I think you should be able to use a different microphone with the transmitter. It should be a standard microphone socket like this one and I tried this in my follow up video and plugged in a shotgun mic instead and it works fine.
I had echo sounds in my recording. In the beginning was perfect. Is this because the person with mic came to close? or is it because I removed (but not unplugged) my headphone for hearing the sound on the receiver?
Hi Tom. I have not encountered that I have to say. It makes sense that you might get an echo with there being two mics running at the same time. I can't imagine why the headphones would affect it. But thanks for letting me know. I will look out for it in the future.
Awh i love the review buddy. Also great mic this one. Loooove the haircut. So sexy. The video shit in the studio looks stunning buddy. I think its a good price for a great mic especially without any editing of the sound.

That's great to hear. Can't wait to see you back on the RUclips screen. Apologies if I have not replied to you quickly or completely, I have not had notifications for several comments to my channel this week. Not sure what's going on but this one worked.
Thanks for great video, it helped a lot with my decision 🙏🏼 A quick question, can you change the mike heads to some other headsets, the ones you wear on your ears like a loop and then talk to the mike extended to your mouth, the ones like heroman headsets, so it doesnt keep having scratching sound when you move up and down ?
I am really pleased you found the video useful. Good question - I have tested them with my iphone headphones mic and i got audio. So, yes i think you can but i don't know how good the quality will be. If you wear the mic properly you shouldn't get too much scratching noise. I didn't wear the mic in the best place for this video. I thought it was convenient but it should be placed on or around your sternum. (See my follow up video where I wear the mic in a better pace). Hope that helps.
@@guzailiayiabulizi5699 So i was speaking with my pilates instructor a few months back as she knows I am into my videos etc. She tried a lav mike but couldn't get on with it. However, it was an all-in-one thing so not as convenient. She uses the mic from her ipad which is ok but echoes. A lav mic would definitely improve the sound if you can wear it correctly and it doesn't get in the way. You can always hide the cable under your clothing to stop it flailing about. I would be interested to know how you get on.
I watched your review of BOYA BY-WM3 PRO-K2 , but I have not yet to test it. I plan on adding podcasting to a You Tube Channel. I saw a Zoom H8 and a couple of other models, but I'm not certain if I need one. I also have a Rode shotgun mike and a Blue Yeti. These are all in my regular office. Anything suggestions and ideas you have for me will be appreciated.
Hi Leonard. Thank you for commenting. It is hard to suggest any ideas as I don't know how you plan to set up for podcasting. It sounds like you may be wanting to record 2 voices. The Boya will provide you with the 2 inputs you would need for that. If you already have the Boya, I wouldn't say you need to buy the Zoom H8 just now. Try using the Boya first. (the H8 is a lot of money). If I was podcasting, i would plug shotgun mics into the Boya as I personally think the sound is better compared to using the lav mics. (Watch my follow up video on the Boya mic ruclips.net/video/D2V1v0RmhJA/видео.html where I demonstrate using the shotgun mics and you should notice the difference in sound). You also have the Blue Yeti. I don't have one of those but have heard they are very good and the sound would also be great for podcasting. I don't know if I have been much help or confused you more. But please do let me know how you get on. And, if there is anything more you want to discuss, please do get in touch. Best regards, Chris.
Hi Flavius. Try another mic to see if it is the Jack. I did see on another video with these mics that if the transmitter and receiver are too close to each other, this can cause a buzzing sound. To eliminate the mics, i would test them with something else such as a phone or different camera. But it could be interference from something else potentially. try those options but sorry I can't be more help. Let me know how you get on.
@@ChristopherAlbone nah, still buzzing even to a 10 meter distance If i only plug the BOYA microphone and listen to headphones, only left ear audio works. I plugged in a razer microphone in the dslr and it perfectly works .
@@flavius7026 If you plug the microphone directly into the camera/ recording, it will only come out on the left side. I would try recording some audio using the transmitter and mic on another device to rule in/ out the transmitter and receivers.
@@ChristopherAlboneso you end up with a mixdown of both mics in one mono track? Or is one mic the L and the other R channel of a stereo track, so you van level both channels later in post? Great video btw!

Sounds great! Loved the blue and red lighting effect in the middle. (Should I mention that the new hairdo??). I splurged and got the wireless rode mic. But only one mic. That is a big difference. And I had to buy a lavalier mic to go with it. Really happy with it. Now I just have to get out there vlogging again. Be gone, pandemic!!!
Thank you, Karen. I think you need to place the mic really carefully and check as this subtle placements of the mic can have a big affect. But overall, I did the tests and I was really pleased. I need to play with the gains. Lavalier mics do give you different options when it comes to audio. I think I am fairly good on the visuals but audio is a whole other world that probably doesn’t get the attention it deserves. The hairdo is a DIY-I-can’t-wait-for-the-hairdressers-to-open-again style. It changes every month anyway 🙂
You are so so right about audio. Definitely a huge issue for me. I can’t tell you how many mics I have tried and sent back. I currently own about 7?? Just got yet another one today - Logitech headset with mic for video conferencing - because several platforms don’t recognise my stand alone mics. Or my Rodes wireless 😡. Do you have premiere pro? There is an audio mix program connected to it. Helps with wind and echo. I find Video Revealed a great help. Colin on that channel works for adobe and he always has great tips. Good luck, Christopher! (And I like the hair!)
I use Final Cut Pro but it has some pretty good audio tools built in. It's just I don't know how to use them yet.. I need to learn more on the post production audio. There is so much to learn but I love when I nail how to do a new thing. That's the main reason for my channel really. It's a vehicle for me to do just that. The colour effect was a simple mask I moved across, really simple, really effective. My dad will be pleased with the hair. He has never been a fan of my blonde versions. Chris.
When you say these are "both mono channels" does the reciever split the two mics "left and right" or is the audio merged in teh receiver? I'm trying to gauge if this might work to split the dialogue between two actors. Cheers.
was thinking of getting the Rode Go wireless Lavs..but according to yr yt video ''this is half the Price and the Sound is Good enough for what i need it for [dialog recording]..thanks !
Hi Henry. Thanks for watching and commenting. I do think these are great for the price. Before you buy, check out my follow up video ruclips.net/video/D2V1v0RmhJA/видео.html to hear them when they are worn properly and I have adjusted them in post (and corrected the slight delay).
Fantastic review, thank you. I have just taken delivery of this, however, the receiver is not pairing with the transmitters. Any ideas how to fix this? The instruction manual is not written in English. Kindly advise. Thank you
olabisi daodu thanks for the kind words. Regarding the pairing - the instructions. 1) Turn on receiver and transmitters. 2) Press the + and - for 3 seconds on receiver and press pair on one transmitter for 3 seconds at the same time. 3) When transmitter and receiver connects, the light on receiver will stay blue the light of transmitter flash every 2.5 seconds. 4) Repeat step 2 for the other transmitter. Let me know how you get on.

Hi Christopher, I'm not able to get this set working for my Android and iphone. Am I doing anything wrong? I tried connecting it a few times (it auto connects right?), Tried getting a new one from Amazon, did the voice test, basically everything. But my phone is still picking up the phone mic sound and not the boya mics. Please help.
Hi Amit. Sorry to hear you are having problems connecting the mics. Just to check, are you using the correct cable to connect the receiver to your phone? Is the one with the right-angle connector.
Luke Hope, hi. I have no idea. That would be a question for Boya. Also I don’t know how using 2 receivers so close together would work either. If I had 4 transmitters, I would want to separate them rather than put them together. I will have a look and see if there is anything out there to support what you are wanting to do. If I find anything, I will post back here.
The set up is straight forward. I show in the video very brief how you connect the mics. Plug the mics into the transmitters where the mic icon is. Plug the receiver into your camera or phone depending on what you are using. They come paired. But if not, I have left the pairing instructions in the description.
Hi Justin. You should be able to. After all, you effectively plug the wired mics that come with the set. Given the great response I have had with this video, I will be doing a follow up video in 2 weeks to answer everyone’s questions and to explore the possible.
Thank you for this review, I just purchased this system online at BestBuy.com - I'm looking forward to testing it out in 10 - 12 days or so. It says it will arrive on Oct 7, 2020.

So be careful of that. In my follow up, I wear them on the sternum where they should be. I hope you enjoy using them.
Hi Charlie. No, they are not separate left and right channels. I have tried everything I can think of but they both come through on the one mono channel.
Hi Sabin. Thank you for your comment. I do appreciate it. Are you not a Cannon fan? I have the M50 and EOS R. I think they are both pretty awesome. Not that I am desperate for your subscription. Just curious.

Thanks for the review. Im looking for a replacement for my 2 kits of Saramonic Blink 500 that keeps making errors. I really dont understand that you like the sound of these BOYA mics. The audio in you review is extremely bad in my opinion. It sound like to have a severe cold. The HMMMs and bass is very high to the point that I can hardly understand you. I am missing clarity. I just saw another of you videos ruclips.net/video/wI-U_bIf1X4/видео.html and the audio in the beginning of this is SOO much better.
Hi Peter. Thank you for your comment. I agree the audio does not have same clarity as the shotgun mics I use. I found that small changes in where you wear the mic can affect the audio. I didn’t adjust the sound at all in post as I wanted to capture them as they are.
Hi Kajo. Great to hear from you. It didn't come out quite right but still good. I used a MotionVFX plugin called Mcallouts Specs. I will make a video on this for next week.
Hi dan dan. The honest answer is I don’t know. However, the Zoom H1 does have a line in Jack for an external mic so I see no reason why it shouldn’t work.
You can do that. Get a shielded audio cable, just to be sure. You connect the H1 to the camera with that cable, turn the H1 on and it will work. Just don't press the record button on the Zoom H1.
Thanks for your comment. I haven't noticed this. I have noticed that a sound lag is induced in RUclips videos at times, no idea why but it used to drive me nuts. But I have not noticed any lag using these mics.

Thanks V. The haircut was a do-it-yourself job. People say I look better and younger with short hair. But I like mixing up. I used a mask for the studio colour bit. I hope you're safe and well. Any videos in the pipeline?
Hey Chris i have made a couple but not posting yet.
@@ChristopherAlbone amazing ! Thanks, I’m a yoga instructor, so I asked this, but you were right, I’ll check your next video as well 🙏🏼👍🏻
@@guzailiayiabulizi5699 So i was speaking with my pilates instructor a few months back as she knows I am into my videos etc.
Cant make them sound good on my EOS 6D?? i tried all kinds of settings still got a weird buzzing sound, could the JACK inside the camera be broken?
@@ChristopherAlbone nah, still buzzing even to a 10 meter distance
If i only plug the BOYA microphone and listen to headphones, only left ear audio works.
I plugged in a razer microphone in the dslr and it perfectly works .
@@flavius7026 If you plug the microphone directly into the camera/ recording, it will only come out on the left side. I would try recording some audio using the transmitter and mic on another device to rule in/ out the transmitter and receivers.
@@ChristopherAlbone it works perfectly on phone, i should try another dslr...but on my 6d still has that hiss annoying sound.
@@flavius7026 How annoying. I hope you get it sorted and work out what is going on.
does the reciever works with BY-WXLR8 transmitter ?
I don't own the BY-WXLR8 but looking at the specs - no, they each operate on different frequency bands... very different actually, quite suprising.
Would you happen to know whether this unit records 2 separate audio tracks to the camera on 2 separate channels?
Hi. No. The audio comes through on one channel.
@@ChristopherAlboneso you end up with a mixdown of both mics in one mono track? Or is one mic the L and the other R channel of a stereo track, so you van level both channels later in post? Great video btw!
@@TypicalMammal thank you. The first part of your comment is correct. They both come down the same mono track. I tried to see if they separate left and right in post but they don’t. I did a follow up video that provides a bit more info if it helps.
Cheers.
Hi Jules-Frederic. I was probably not as clear as I should have been. My apologies. The audio is merged and not split between left and right.
was thinking of getting the Rode Go wireless Lavs..but according to yr yt video ''this is half the Price and the Sound is Good enough for what i need it for [dialog recording]..thanks !
@@ChristopherAlbone Thank you for your quick response. I have tried this again and even with the blue lights on confirming they are paired, there's no sound received whatsoever. I have contacted the seller to return. Thank you for your help.
olabisi daodu. Sorry to hear you may have a duff set. What were you connecting the mics to? It is so annoying when you buy something and it doesn’t work out of the box.
@@ChristopherAlbone Thank you. I tried with both my Samsung mobile and mirrorless camera. I used the correct connection cords for both, but it didn't pick any sound on either
olabisi daodu Hi. I just thought I would catch up with you to ask if you ever got them replaced and how you are getting on? All the best. Chris.
Do they still work? Any issues?
Yeah. Still work. No issues as yet. Though haven’t had them out for several weeks.
Hey mate I'm planning to buy another of this is there a way I can connect 4 transmitter in one receiver?
Luke Hope, hi. I have no idea. That would be a question for Boya. Also I don’t know how using 2 receivers so close together would work either. If I had 4 transmitters, I would want to separate them rather than put them together.
I will have a look and see if there is anything out there to support what you are wanting to do. If I find anything, I will post back here.
could you do how to setup detail ?please
The set up is straight forward. I show in the video very brief how you connect the mics. Plug the mics into the transmitters where the mic icon is. Plug the receiver into your camera or phone depending on what you are using. They come paired. But if not, I have left the pairing instructions in the description.
Can you plug a wired mic into the transmitters and use it for interviews?
RoySFord thank you for commenting. As I mentioned, tech reviews are not my thing but felt there was a gap in what I had seen.
I have since learned where you wear them can make quite a difference. So be careful of that. In my follow up, I wear them on the sternum where they should be. I hope you enjoy using them.
Will it separate both move separately? Left and right?
Hi Charlie. No, they are not separate left and right channels. I have tried everything I can think of but they both come through on the one mono channel.
Too bad. Thanks for your reply. I assume you did try using fill left and fill right in premier pro as well?
I use Final Cut and tried everything that I could think of. But maybe someone has tried something I am unaware of.
Get a decent camera and i ll subscribe. Otherwise, good job, best Boya wm4 review
Hi Sabin. Thank you for your comment. I do appreciate it. Are you not a Cannon fan? I have the M50 and EOS R. I think they are both pretty awesome. Not that I am desperate for your subscription. Just curious.
@@ChristopherAlbone Hey, i hope my comment was not offensive, I do appreciate the video as it is very informative and useful. I use Panasonic and Sony cameras, but don't RUclips, just do some local Facebook interviews. Maybe the light bothered me? Don't know. Anyways, I bought the Boya today after your review, I am not b.s. you :)
Sabin Ripan I never thought for one minute your comment was offensive. But I was curious. I am always interested in what other people “see”. I like that. And I was wondering what you saw. I recognise the “crap bits” that were out of my control and had I had time to reshoot I would have. But time is always against me. But am so pleased you found the video useful. I too thought that other reviews had not quite covered everything I wanted to see. So, the comments I have had to date mean a lot and that I am doing stuff in the right space.
Sounds muffled to me?
It is a bit. But that is lav mics with no adjustment. If you watch my follow up you will hear the difference with a little adjustment in post - no muffle.
I didn’t adjust the sound at all in post as I wanted to capture them as they are.
can I use both microphones at the same time for interviews? Thanks in advance ^_^
Hi. Thanks for your comment. Absolutely yes. Both can be used at the same time. That was one of the reasons I was drawn to this mic pack.
Great review! Since you are using Final Cut Pro how did you track the text to the cable or did you keyframe it?
Hi Kajo. Great to hear from you. It didn't come out quite right but still good. I used a MotionVFX plugin called Mcallouts Specs. I will make a video on this for next week.
Want To Ask
1. Can i plug in to "Zoom H1" instead of "Camera" for the receiver? Thank you
Looks like there is a huge lag
Thanks for your comment. I haven't noticed this. I have noticed that a sound lag is induced in RUclips videos at times, no idea why but it used to drive me nuts. But I have not noticed any lag using these mics.
Is it just me? I could hear the electronic static ...
Hi Edmund. Which part do you think you heard it? I can go back to the original footage and check for you? The follow up video has better sound if you want to check that too.
Was perplexed..... background sound.... mic review.... I can see why you don't do reviews...
Sorry you were perplexed. Hope you found a better video on it.
Great review
Thank you for your feedback and I am pleased you found it helpful. There is a follow up video if you want to hear more of the microphones (with post production improvement).
