  • Susan Hanlin, Project Manager for Central Govan Action Plan, talks about the new Govan - Partick bridge that is being built as part of the Waterfront and West End Innovation Quarter project, one of the key City Deal projects being delivered in Glasgow.
The new pedestrian/cycle bridge over the River Clyde will link Water Row in Govan to Pointhouse Quay in Partick, a connection that will re-establish the historic link between the two areas.

Love the energy of this lass , man Govan has such potential, it got a great history, I believe even the the Romans were there, great location, great transport links with the river and underground, great people, this is a place that could really take off if developed right, I used to work int he dry docks there many years ago, and even 30 years ago I was say to my dad the dry dock area would make a fantastic site for a Maritime Museum , but anyway the bridge will be a great start

It’s not the council, it’s grubs just throwing the litter about instead of putting it in the bin, being from Glasgow and having a love of Glasgows history, I often look at old pictures of Glasgow, in some of the pictures you see the old tenements and the front and the back are just full of rubbish and shit, and you think oh the deprivation, but how did all this shit end up in their back yards and outside there closes in the street and why would no one have the will to make an effort to clean it up ?

I think you should ask first who is dropping all the litter.

Govan has had more than enough. We need other parts of Glasgow to get the same levels of attention. Possilpark, Springburn, Parkhead, Royston…

Gawd was there a buzz word in her script she didn’t get in ? One important one was “ new people “ nothing about the old people with old roots and a care and love of the wee smelly messy area, oh well these new people will bring back that historical pride Lol 😂
