    I'm not really a baritone, tenor here, but i often find myself doing your baritone warmups before singing songs in the deeper range. It's really helped actually, i can hit deep notes now that i didn't think i could hit as a tenor.

    • @somebodyoulove

      @@somebodyoulove thanks you so much for answering to my question I have another question do tenors have naturally high speaking voice?

    • @somebodyoulove
      @somebodyoulove 4 года назад +2

      Shivam Shivam not necessarily singing and speaking are way different. I think we speak mainly with our chest voice and singing is a mix of both chest and head voice. I’m not a music scholar hopefully someone else would give a detailed explanation of voices better. Search for what the fach tenor on RUclips to see a detailed explanation of different tenor voices. Also, With practice you can develop your mix and be able to sing higher. Keep practicing because practice brings progress.

    Hi Jeff, Thanks for all your great videos! I sang for many years with Chicago Gay Men's Chorus, but the only singing I do now is around the house and Karaoke. I want to do what I can to help prevent losing my modest vocal ability and I'm really enjoying your baritone warmups! I hope to be able to explore more of your channel and videos as I get my voice back into shape.

    I started singing with Jeff again, thinking I was a tenor, but my tenor voice sounded dead. I did this baritone warm up an it feels right. I think I may be a baritone. My ukulele is baritone too. It's Kismet! It's funny, tenor use to sound good when I was doing Jeff's warm ups before. Maybe I'm kinda in between the ranges?

    • @JeffRolka
      @JeffRolka  3 года назад +1

      Could be! Also, if you took some time off of vocalizaing, which is to say, doing my warm ups, your vowel alignment may have backslid somewhat. That will have an impact on your perceived range. Once the vowel alignment gets more precise, you may start to feel more comfortable in the tenor areas again.
      Best!

    So, thanks for all your hard work making videos for us! I have a question. I'm just a rock electronic guy, I hear people talking about feeling the sound in your face, I guess that means the mask? Also, I had kind of an awakening my voice sounds better if it's not back in my throat but when I can feel my face resonate or it is more forward. Can you point me to one of your videos that explains this phenom or explain to me what's going on? Thanks in advance!

    • @JeffRolka
      @JeffRolka  4 года назад +2

      Hello and thanks for your comment! The mask, singer's formant, front resonance, the super sinus - they're all referencing similar concepts in resonance that relate to brilliance in the voice. What is too frequently left out is that that brilliance is the balance between the lower (chest) voice and the higher (head) voice tone quality. Without it, the tone won't match as well, if at all. The term that you'll find in voice teaching books will mostly be 'singer's formant'. I talk about it using that term as well as mask resonance just for familiarity. Here's a video I did on it:
      ruclips.net/video/JT8Nn3yhVbw/видео.html
      I hope that helps! Thanks for dropping by!

      @@JeffRolka Perfect! As soon as you said 2Khz I knew why I perceive my voice sounding better more forward. In dense Rock/Electronic songs that I make the 2K region is the sweet spot for vocals to cut through the mix, and in mixing we tend to carve out a little space in other instruments to let the vocal sit well in a dense track. Thank you!

    Sorry for my poor english but I would like to post for you a short remark.
    Indeed, I recently discovered you YouYou channel, I begun to practise some of your exercices, but what a big jungle is your list of vidéos. A lot of them are the quietly same, published since a long time or very soon. Beginning by the last published, is it the good way ? In a current cursus of learning in general we begin by the first and grow step by step to the last. Please advice me, if possible.

    hi Jeff, I have a question I hope you can help me with. I have a jaw that's smaller than usual in relation to the upper jaw (kinda gives me a nerd look from the side profile), my question is if this natural form of my jaw might affect my singing? Like for example:If it might reduce my range or if I should make more adjustments on high notes to compensate. Thank you very much I really appreciate your videos and I hope I get to meet you some day, best vocal teacher on youtube.

    • @JeffRolka
      @JeffRolka  4 года назад +1

      Hello! Thank you so much for your kind words!
      It's really hard to say. I can imagine scenarios where there isn't enough space for your tongue to be which could impact vowel formation, and in turn, have an impact on your range. Again, it's really hard to say. I would also think that the degree to which it is smaller would also have an impact.
      I'm sorry to not be of more assistance in this regard. I hope we can meet someday too, all the best to you!
