  • We got a call from one of our clients saying that they're Hynautic Control systems had air in it and needed to be bled. When we got to the boat and tried to bleed it, we realized that there was more to the situation than just bleeding the system. We ripped the entire system apart brought it back to the shop, realized how much debris was in the bottom of the tank. We cleaned it all out which I believe to be a silicate, probably due to using the wrong type of antifreeze. This is a systematic explanation on how to bleed out your hydraulic steering or control systems.

What you think would cause my controls on all 3 stations to be stiff ? Fluid looks good. Pressure 75 psi.

I would start with your charge valves. Everything works well otherwise? Hard to say without being there. But I would start there.

@@CarolinaMarineGroupCharleston Yes, they all work fine; but just all stiff. So I let out the air first, but after, when the valve caps are opened will all the fluid in the tank and the two stations above it all drain out ??

There is silica antifreeze in my system. Everything worked until I rebuilt a sender and flushed the system. All the crud clogged the reservoir. I cleared that and the system still won’t bleed. I plan to clean and replace the dill valves at the upper helm and hope the hydraulic loop will then be intact and bleed

@@danielmcpartlin6526 check your charge valves first that’s usually where they clog. There are tiny little orifices that are about the size of a pin that can clog very easily and prevent proper flow through the system. I should have a video on charge valves.

I thought all hynautic took MiL-H-5606A aviation hyd fluid (red)?

No! 50/50 glycol with no additives. Or you can use the expensive Hynautic stuff. Most people use the 50/50. 😃 other systems do use the red hydro fluid but not this.
