This particular Vadacurry has a big part in my childhood days. Technically grew up with it. Back in early 2000's, my mother used to packs me only idlies or dosas and nothing else fo twice a week. My grandpa is one who takes me and my brother to school and we'll stop here midway and the hotel will be covered by people like housefly over the parcel counter jus for this Legendary Vadacurry. Every weekends, returning from a trip, and basically every trip began with the Dosa and Vadacurry as a breakfast from here. The hotel used to run outta Vadacurry in the morning sooner than you think. and you can't buy it on Monday cuz of the hotel holiday. For many people in Saidapet and around it, this Vadacurry plays a huge role in their life unknowingly. The taste got slightly altered as the years go by but the people's love n craze over this dish is as same as ever. I think for the comical phrase in tamizh, " Uttalakkadi giri giri, saidapetta vadacurry " originated here.... Love for this Vadacurry is a never ending story... . . If you were here pre-covid, you could have visited another hotel named " Gowri Nivas " which is at the end of the street from where Mari is located. They shut it down for some reasons and you would have had one of best crispyfied dosa ever.
Thanks for covering this place. This Place is famous for Vadacurry. The preparation is different. They crush the vadas with ural stone or grinding stone, which is unique. Likely this is an alternative vegetarian side dish for breakfast, especially in non veg hotels. Of course this is a signature breakfast dish consumed a lot in Chennai.

Vadacurry originally prepared using left over Vada and left over vegetables in hotel. Hotels prepare this on the evening using the vada and vegetables left overs from breakfast and lunch. Eventually now it has become a dish of its own .

The best mandi ever i had 2. hotel saravana bhavan in adayar, they serve with many chutneys for idli 3. The Wedding briyani in Velachery, they serve briyani in an authentic muslim wedding style. 4. Try the early morning briyani in keelkatalai, the shop name was auto briyani. (u have to reach the spot before 5am, google it for location).

One of my favourite hotel in Saidapet. I know this hotel for more than 35 years. Vada curry is very famous in this hotel. Like that sambar and Idly also my favourite. When you cross the hotel in the mornings the sambar smell will tempt to go inside to have some idly and sambar. Close to Mari Hotel there is one Udupi Hotel called Gowri Hotel Bonda and Sambar is very famous there.
Kripalji is the only foodvloger who goes for the different taste of any dishes not for the ambience nor the size of the eatery to make mouthwatering of the viewers Language is not the constrain as for as Kripalji who is cut above the rest vloggers 👍
Vada is made out of “pea lentils “ pattaani paruppu”. Not kadala paruppu. My favourite hotel in Saidapet. Thank sir. In south tamilnadu we used to make masalvada in pattani paruppu. So tasty.
