    • @johnbarron2269
      @johnbarron2269 2 месяца назад

      Djohns54, I was also a Boy Scout in the late 60's, at, Mandell Church, on Lavergne Avenue, near May Elementary School, in Chicago. Mr. Houser and Bob, were the Scoutmasters. We went on a 1 week(seven day) Scout camping trip to Owasippe, Michigan in August of, 1969. When we left, in route there, the Chicago Cubs, with Ernie Banks, Ron Santo, (my favorite one-Ron) Billy Williams, Ferguson Jenkins, Don Kessinger, Glen Beckert, etc., and manager Leo Durocher, were about 8 1/2(eight and one-half) games, yes, eight and one-half games, ahead of the second place New York Mets, in the standings. Amongst the players on the Mets roster were, the great Tom Seaver, Don Clendenon, Jerry Koosman, and, Ed Kranepool. Their manager was Gil Hodges. When we returned, to see how the Cubs had INCREASED THEIR LEAD, in the Chicago Sun-Times newspaper, we were TOTALLY STUNNED, that the Cubs were now about 1(one) game, yes, one game, ahead of the second place Mets. Everyone who was a Cubs fan at that time, VERY WELL knows the rest of the story. The New York Mets went on to SHOCK THE WORLD, by beating the Baltimore Orioles, who had the late/GREAT Frank Robinson, and the late/GREAT Brooks Robinson, in 5(five) games, to become WORLD CHAMPIONS. That was probably-and still is-THE GREATEST UPSET IN MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL HISTORY. Some people, even to this day, cannot believe it, and here it is, 55(fifty-five) years(or tears, if you will,) later. My Boy Scout buddies, along with myself, said, for the next 29(twenty-nine) years, up until, 1998(nineteen ninety-eight) when we lost track of each other, that the ONNNNNNLY reason that the Cubs lost that BIG LEAD, was because, WE WENT ON THAT BOY SCOUT CAMPING TRIP TO OWASIPPE, MICHIGAN. I STILL HAVEN'T GOTTON OVER IT.

      Strawberry letters 23 was written and performed by a then 16 year old shuggi otis, as much as I love the brothers Johnson version, this was written and performed by a 16 year old, he did every instrument on this song! ruclips.net/video/sbhIZe3smr0/видео.html

      @@scottyovgy2 Shuggy was an absolute genius: child prodigy, multi-instrumentalist and great songwriter - a huge influence on Prince.
      His albums from 70-74 inspired many, sadly he was too good for his craft and burnt out at 21, way too soon. Glad he's back too receive his props though, his story reminds me a lot like Sugar Man.
