    Sparkling gourami win for their chirps... love hearing that in my living room randomly!

      Hey I just got a group of them they’re still somewhat small but very healthy and active do you have any tips for them? Thanks!

      @@BroadswordNii I put them into an established (2 year old tank) that I had just moved a school of tetras from. They picked out all of my snails that weren't adults and all the guppy fry that were in the tank... now I am just feeding them krill flakes mostly with frozen brine and blood worms. And they pick at veggie flakes (but not branches veggies with my 5... literally ignore them)... I have them with 3 adult guppies that may or may not still be making fry since the addition (which makes me like the gourami more)... they aren't harassing the adult display guppies but it means that every tank isn't a guppy grow out tank... .
      .... I'm doing everything "wrong" though... I have a group of 5.. hang on back filter.... it's planted enough to slow flow, but I know they won't breed successfully.. I've been seeing them mate for a few months but haven't seen fry yet... but I also haven't seen a bubble nest.. they definitely are wrapping each other and one swims off with eggs though... idk.. maybe the adult guppies are out for payback.. or my lackadaisical water changes are wrecking eggs. I'm going to try to get the breeding pair into their own tank over winter and hope for babies and then movie them outdoors next spring for the summer to see what they do in a maze of water lettuce and hyacinth

      @@BroadswordNii when I got them I had 4 adults and one baby
      They bullied the smallest a bit but he had so many hides he caught up in size... so it's just the gourami and kuhli loaches with like a trio of display guppies essentially...

    Love seeing a bunch of Gourami, for sure my favourite sight.
    4. Is not Trichopodus microlepis but the platinum variant of the Three Spot Gourami/Trichopodus trichopterus.
    There is also a few inconsistencies in use of the scientific names which can be a little confusing for those who don't know them.
    Trichopodus trichopterus is the name used for all variants of the Three spot Gourami(Gold/Opaline/plantinum) and all colour variants of the Dwarf Gourami are called Trichogaster Lalius. Care/size is the same for each species as they are only a colour variant.
    Colisa lalia is an old name.

    those leopard gouramis are also called leopard bush fish , im waiting to get one but there predatory fish and you cant keep them with anything it can fit in its mouth, they do usually get up to 6 inches but there very slow growers so i can stay in a ten gallon for about two years of it’s life and then you will probably need it in something like a 40 gallon when it’s full grown

    • @thegrubbyone
      @thegrubbyone 6 месяцев назад

      You can but you want to quarantine any new gourami in a tank alone for at least 30 days to insure they don't have gourami disease it's highly contagious and kills within 30 days. You also want to make sure you don't have aggressive breeds. I have 2 dwarfs, 2 electric blues and 2 flames all breeding pairs. I would like to get a couple different breeds to complete my 36 gallon tank. They currently have 5 neon tetras and a rubber nose pleco in the tank with them it's a bow front tank so it's tal and has plenty of space to accommodate

    Just a quick update, those "3 spot gouramis" are aggressive i have some in my tank now n no matter who i put them with they will atk, always try to assert dominance

    • @thegrubbyone
      @thegrubbyone 6 месяцев назад

      No I have dwarf, electric blue, flame, and honey all in the same tank and they don't really mess with each other like that as long as the tank is big enough and there is enough tall foliage for them to swim and hide in they won't have any issues just do your research and don't get aggressive types

    I’ve had a 75 gallon setup for a lil over a year now that I originally threw in a cpl zebra danios, cpl red serpaes and a blue gitd rainbow shark. Then I threw in (all at once) 4 pearl gouramis, 2 thick lip gouramis, 2 gold gouramis, 2- 3 dot gouramis, 2 angel fish, 1 opaline gourami and a cpl coreydora catfish. Then abt a month after I added 2 very small blue paradise gouramis. Everybody is very chill after a yr. The opaline chases a lil but nothing crazy aggressive. They’re all beautiful to watch.
    I also have a 40 gallon setup with 8 dwarf gouramis, an albino rainbow shark and a cpl coreydoras. There are 4 different dwarf gourami species in there. 2 of each species and they all get along.

      That rainbow shark will eventually eat all of the other fish if you don't watch it and move it when it gets bigger
