Hi Laura! I watched this video a few months ago in April when I was just about to start working on my Master's thesis and was feeling completely overwhelmed. The thought of writing this huge assignment in 3 months had made me so anxious that I was unable to sit down and just do the work. I wanted to come back here and say thank you. Because I followed your tips and submitted my thesis last week, and it wasn't nearly as difficult as I thought it would be. The biggest mistake I was making was trying to read, make notes and write all the same time. And you're completely right, it just doesn't work that way! So, thank you Laura! And to everyone else working on a thesis, you got this ❤️
thank you for this video! I realized I was trying to do everything at the same time (read, notes, write) and felt a bit overwhelmed. I'll start making a weekly schedule, thanks for the tip!
Thanks Laura for the tips! I’ve been overwhelming doing my thesis (research, taking notes, writing) and now after watching this, I’m more motivated doing my master thesis. You’re amazing!
Ahead of my thesis writing, I really find your video amazing. You covered almost everything, I cannot express my expression better.❤A lot lot and lot of thanks.
I was doing everything at once and it got it me overwhelmed and thoughts of quitting every once in a while, thanks for this now I can change my approach
Same! :) This piece of advice seems crucial to me now. I've been postponing writing my disso for MONTHS. And if I'd actually made a thorough plan and chosen a reward, I think I would most definitely bring myself to do something instead of thinking "Nooo, I'm too tired after work" at the end of the day. Especially at the beginning stage of writing it's important just to make it a habit and that's where "rewards" come into play to trick yourself into it :D
Thank you for such an informative, realistic and inspiring video. I am in my last year of my Bachelor degree and a little worried of writing a thesis for the first time but your video made me more optimistic and believe that everything will be fine if I plan my steps in advance. I also appreciate the fact that you give tips from your own experience :)
Thank you so much, I've been feeling so sad and stuck lately, my supervisor is very strict, she expects the best from me and disappointing her makes me feel soo bad even though I still have a lot of time to write (plus the final exams that are driving me crazy). Now I'm feeling better, tysm! virtual hug from Italy
So we should make our research , gather the information needed and take notes at the same time , then in choose a day just for typing the information in the main file . thank you so much , this video was really helpful .
This video is very helpful. I am in the middle of writing my research proposal and I am very stressed because I tried to do everything at the same time. now I know, I have to work on it by chapters, and separate reading, taking notes and writing. I almost give up. But, as you said I will still get my degree. So I will keep fighting, thanks.
Seriously, thank you so much for these tips! I feel way less lost now after watching your vid :D My deadline for my Master's thesis is in 6 weeks and I'm still at the panicking stage and done absolutely nothing so it was really helpful! Btw, I agree with you completely about how important detailed notes are, I'm in this mess now because I didn't have a system for it from the start and now I'm redoing the reading, so yeah

Thank you so much Laura. This video has given me the positive nudge to get up and start my thesis. I have been so overwhelmed with the thought of it and just buried my head in the sand. Thanks for your practical advise and encouragement.
I agree with setting up stages in the writing process. I thought of the writing process in 3 stages and I allocated my time for each stage depending on how much time I felt I needed. This video is very helpful!
One huge tip. Dont use Word/Pages/.... Trust me people, learn LaTeX... Took me 2 days to learn the basics and I immediately converted every single written document longer than 10 pages to LaTeX. Is it slower in some areas? Yes. Does it randomly fuck up your document every other weak? No. Does it do exactly what you tell it to do? Yes. Does it have automatic citations/figure/table numbering & referencing which actually works? Yes. Only problems I encountered were language specific (I'm Czech) and a bit clunky tables management but web apps help (Google: LaTeX table editor -> profit). In the end you only need to know around 10-20 commands which you can easily put on a cheat sheet and once your document is setup its like 5 commands. Wish you all good luck with it B).
Thank you so much ! You just made my day with your tips and positive vibes. I was really struggling with my writing work for my MA dissertation but now I got the right way to do it BTW we as researchers and university students we have a lot in common in our studying styles and believe or not that made me feel better somehow ...thanks again and keep the nice jobe up !! 😊🌹
