We have three Hondas in the family, two of them with the 1.5l CVT drive trains, in a Jazz and a Fit respectively. It is a reliable and adequate drive train for such compact applications. But if Honda thinks they can rejuvenate interest in the brand by launching an SUV with this engine, then there is no hope for them. As for me, I will hold on to my 2010 CR-V with the 2.2 DTec engine till it falls apart. They just do not make them like that any more.
I completely agree. Having owned five Hondas in my life (4 Accords (incl. 2.2idtec) & 1 Civic) - Honda hasn't brought a product to match. They keep fluffing with this 1.5 across the range and hope people will rush to showrooms!... and there's more - price the CR-V at R1 million (and compete against a 6 cyl 3.3 turbo diesel Mazda).

Not going to happen anytime soon. CVTs are so much cheaper to build and sell at the same premium - plus they're more expensive to maintain. What's not to like if you're a manufacturer? Plus you can claim "FUEL EFFICIENCY" as well. Laughing all the way to the bank for them.
Love Honda. Had a couple over 250 000km and no issues. If you want something that lasts, buy a Honda. Issues and broken stuff is just non existent on them. Imagine a Chery at 250 000km. What will be left over of it??????
As boring, plain , basic and slow engined this Honda Elevate is. It will easily do 500 000km with no issues. You are guaranteed to keep it on the road with low maintenance. I would rather search for a 2nd hand low mileage Mazda CX-5 AUTO
I drive zx cvt top end elevate in India and am completely convinced wiht its performance. True family car. Very practical car and if you are someone who are not inclined to speed, the fuel efficiency is also great . It showed me as good as 19.3 km per litre. However i didnt maintain it , nevertheless with kind of drive i wanted it still gave decent 16kmpl . Its just tirelss to drive 500 kms at a strech.loved it
Comparing base spec between the honda elevate and the Suzuki grand Vitara on thier website, Suzuki has more airbags (6) compared to 2 on the elevate at a cheaper price but only has a 5 speed manual while the honda has a 6 speed manual

My Honda Accord Type S 2006 over 250000 and not a problem of any sort And I sold it after 11 years!!😢.Japanese made and last decent Honda I believe.Maybe the civic but it's madness price wise for the same engine..My partner still has her 2008 Civic with 320000km on and still going like stink.. This Elevate looks like all these Indian sourced "suv or whatever, are made in the same huge plant in India ( I think),a la Kiger,😅Magnite(Datsun),,and the "Korean" Venue,Sonet and Suzuki and Toyota clones..Honda I doubt will set the market slight with this..And no cruise control ..How much would that cost to add to the vehicle.They have other versions of this car in other markets with a cruise control.I am in the market for a vehicle in this class and so far the only car that has caught my attention is the Suzuki Fronx..Now to try buy my old Accord back which I sold in a moment of madness..Not going to happen as I need an auto these days.
Cherry has a resale issue as well as parts availability. Long term reliability is still to be answered. They are also very thirsty. Tiggo 7 is good value even compared to the 4 which is meh.
If only this car came with at least a 1.8L engine and more appropriately a 2.0L engine AND CRUISE CONTROL!!!! This combo of 1.5L and no cruise control is just insane!!!! What the heck were the marketing people thinking? We test drove both and settled for the Grand Vittara GLX. It is just a nicer car to be in: panoramic sun roof, bigger screen and looks better. Elevation is too plain.
Lately, every new Honda model comes with a 1.5 litre engine. From Fit, BRV, HRV, Civic, CRV to this Elevate. Really disappointing from Honda. And worst part they can't tow with that engine. 😮
Are 6 year old"s designing cars these days ? All these " boxes " look the same. Take those badges off and it could be anything. Why have auto boxes been replaced with CVT,s, and then add paddles to make them respond like an auto box in sports mode ? Older Honda's were a cut above the competition IMO, with good build quality and reliable Vtec engines. You're better off buying a used Civic and a CRV with a bit of change for a holiday.

CVTs are cheap to make and very efficient. Besides, since modern autos are 8-speeds, 9-speeds, 10-speeds (Honda's high torque auto is 10-speeds), by that point (a very complicated and expensive 10-speed auto) you may as well have a CVT surely?

Port injected NA engines are typically more reliable than direct injected turbo engines... Surely what matters in a runabout economy SUV is the durability? It's no use that the Peugeot 1.2 Puretech engine or Ford 1.0 Ecoboost is more "advanced", if they routinely fail at 100,000km (which they do)! The better fuel economy and power of downsize turbocharging is no comfort to buyers with broken 5-year-old 2008s or Pumas.
Honda elevate's cabin noise is so irritating and poor NVH. It doesn't excel in any department, same old features like Honda City. Nothing new to buy. No tpms, no rain sensing wipers, no panaromic sunroof, not fully digital driver display, no rear disc brakes , no branded speakers & poor sound quality , infotainment connectivity issues,poor horn sound,no cooling glove box, no front parking sensors, poor quality of the cameras, poor noise insulation, no three point seat belt for rear passenger, cheap plastics of ac vents, no type c or usb charging ports,etc. don't buy this overpriced tin can. Honda connect app- it won't work at all. I was influenced by the paid reviews and bought zx mt. Committed a huge blunder Elevate - no non sense car but Cabin noise- a big nuisance As per the honda philosophy - man maximum, machine minimum In reality - huge cost cutting( no tpms in the top end also, look at the key hole position on the door ) My observations after driving 3.5k kms from January.

For the same price you could even get a Cherry Tiggo Pro 7. Way better spec’d and has a good warranty

My goodness, how can a brand like Honda(with all the 2 and 4 wheel racing heritage) still use caveman technology NA engines. Honda, the bland brand.
Port injected NA engines are typically more reliable than direct injected turbo engines... Surely what matters in a runabout economy SUV is the durability? It's no use that the Peugeot 1.2 Puretech engine or Ford 1.0 Ecoboost is more "advanced", if they routinely fail at 100,000km (which they do)! The better fuel economy and power of downsize turbocharging is no comfort to buyers with broken 5-year-old 2008s or Pumas.

Honda elevate's cabin noise is so irritating and poor NVH. It doesn't excel in any department, same old features like Honda City. Nothing new to buy. No tpms, no rain sensing wipers, no panaromic sunroof, not fully digital driver display, no rear disc brakes , no branded speakers & poor sound quality , infotainment connectivity issues,poor horn sound,no cooling glove box, no front parking sensors, poor quality of the cameras, poor noise insulation, no three point seat belt for rear passenger, cheap plastics of ac vents, no type c or usb charging ports,etc. don't buy this overpriced tin can. Honda connect app- it won't work at all. I was influenced by the paid reviews and bought zx mt. Committed a huge blunder
Elevate - no non sense car but
Cabin noise- a big nuisance
As per the honda philosophy - man maximum, machine minimum
In reality - huge cost cutting( no tpms in the top end also, look at the key hole position on the door )
My observations after driving 3.5k kms from January.

Elevate is my 3rd car, and I know this Janardan fellow from multiple groups and Facebook pages. He has been ridiculed and proved wrong by a large number of owners already. May be you are just too sour from the fact that you can't own a single car and projecting that on me? I don't know, but may be. 🤣
