The more I learn and the more I try to grow conifers the more I realize this is some of the best per-minute conifer content there is. Certainly for Oklahoma. Every word is great advice and holds up ten years later.

I have a little gem magnolia in a pot, it has been growing several years now, and even floweres I live in zone on border of 6/5. I was wondering how can I protect it in winter when I do eventually have to put it outside when it gets to big, I want to put it in south side of the house, I want to mulch heavily in winter and I was thinking of using solar powered heater to keep the ground from freezing, would that be feasible? it would also be sheltered by many trees of various sizes and near the house. what do you think? I have experienced many trees that seem to get hardier as they grow. so I am hoping by the time it gets to big it will be very mature at least 10 years old or older.

Thanks for the information! I'm trying to grow my favorite kind of pine/evergreen from seed. I came across your video and found it very informative. I still don't know what the name of my favorite is, but I'm still trying. I'm in Michigan.

The deodar cedar isn't native to Oklahoma or even North America.
I believe it grows in the Himalayas
