This is how I like you videos: when I think about seeing a movie, I think “weeel I’m gonna get bored...” When i receive the notification that you uploaded a new episode, I think “Let’s see it!”
I've had mine (V2) for some months now and I must say it's worth every euro. It doesn't look nor feel like a PC peripheral, but like it's been taken from a real race car. The tactile response you obtain when you use it is so brutal that it draws a smile on your face with every gear change. It's a pure mechanical feeling. It feels is so radically different, for instance, from a Heusinkveld shifter, that you will end up using it in a very different way, with strenght and totally confident what you will not brake anything no matter how excited you are. Of course, you have to bear in mind the noise. I have no idea if my unit is built with any noise dampening or not, but I must say I'm on a second floor and the people on the first floor can perfectly hear when I'm using my cockpit. Since I race with closed headphones, the problem is gone and I can barely hear it, so the experience of using it is just the tactility of my gear changes. Finally, the only aspect I would criticize from this device is its knob. It's just too small, like made for small children. I have designed and 3D printed a longer and thicker one (10 cm x 3,3 cm), which makes the grip more confident and comfortable. You can download it here: www.alvarezeninternet.com/temp/shifter-knob.stl
I have been waiting for you to review it’s big brother Barry, will this ever happen? I’m on the fence and waiting for your review to jump! Keep up the fantastic work 👍👍
I like the sound on the V2 more than on the V1. I have it here and it sounds better in my opinion. Like a fat clunk or thump when you slam the gears - really awesome. Both are great and this shifter is the best seq i have had in my hands.
Barry, it would be interesting to hear what it would be like if you lined the interior of version 1 with sound deadening insulation. That way you could retain all the tactile feedback and it should be quieter.
I have actually done that. It does tame the high pitched chinking noise. You can try different thicknesses of rubber washers to dial in the amount of noise you want. Within limits of course.
Can you say if there's any unwanted sideways movement or wooble in the shaft? Do you think the friction between all the internal parts will lead to premature wear (something to care about after spending that much money). Also, can you compare it to the shifter my Manu-factory, if you ever had the chance to try it? Thank you and congratulations for your great reviews.
Lovley design i can see the thaught process. Any chance you do do a vid on your pc specs and monitors your using they look great. Thanks for your videos im a huge fan.
I was going to say the tactile feel would be affected with the dampening of the noise. I think I like the V1 better than the V2. Thanks for the review of both versions.
Barry, Have you been able to try the Simagic Q1 Shifter? im in the market for one and it looks great, but trust your judgement alot. You are our Sim Jesus. lol thanks
I understand they both offer a different feeling and approach to the mechanics of the shift, but what is your personal preference between this Pro Sim and the SimWorx Pro Series Sequential Shifter you reviewed at the end of 2018? I am thinking it is time to upgrade from the Heusinkveld Shifter to something with a firmer tactile response.
Will look into them. I only have got the Saitek ones here, but yeah... those are plastic fantastic. I prefer my pedals like Clubsports, with a little heft to them to stop them from sliding all over the place and have a better feel under foot.
Barry, first off thank you for your reviews which are very technical! Your shifter knob in the extension part of the shifter, is it 3” or 6”? Can you post a link to where you got it, I’ve looked and have not seen anything long like this. I been looking in carbon fiber and aluminum. Thank you.
Sim Racing Garage he uses the Hpp prx pedals, I will say I have not heeled to toe yet, but he makes it look easy, and I am sure it takes many hours to get comfortable. Probably use auto blip as I race till I get some time in on practices with the heel to toe method.
The beauty of this design is you can make it feel just like the V1 if that's what you want. I pulled all the sound deadening material from the stops, gear tensioner roller, and the claw plate. Felt and sounded just like my V1 shifter to me. But I ended up putting the claw's deadening material back. Did not affect the tactile feedback as far as I can tell, and I preferred to have the tink tink silenced. YMMV.

Ive done the same barry, removed the silicone type rubber over the bars for the claw stop, then the foam tape over the nuts. When i removed the rubber washer where the claw slaps back i had issues with the claw sometimes jamming. So i used a metal washer instead of the rubber one
This has the vibe of a nice woodworking show my grandpa watched. Very professional and I love it!

I would heat shrink the claws plat mouth area to get that ticking noise. Thank you for the amazing content
Great video, looks like a very realistic feeling shifter, it also looks to have a lot of wear points, be interesting to see how long they last.
Great video Barry, a really nice shifter, V1 and V2.
Is the rotating peice made of plastic?
I have been waiting for you to review it’s big brother Barry, will this ever happen? I’m on the fence and waiting for your review to jump!

Ryan Chenoweth Whats it’s big brother?

Nice Kraken on the wall!! Let us see some FPV vids!
You should do a review on some dimsim products. I have the hand brake and the shifter and I must say they are very good in my opinion.
Barry, it would be interesting to hear what it would be like if you lined the interior of version 1 with sound deadening insulation. That way you could retain all the tactile feedback and it should be quieter.
Yes. There a more than a few ways to make this shifter sound like you want it to.
Wonder if you could wrap felt or rubber hose. around the metal to quiet the shift on v1
I would really like to see what would the V1 sounds like if you put the rubber washer behind the claw and sleeves on the 2 posts.
I have actually done that. It does tame the high pitched chinking noise. You can try different thicknesses of rubber washers to dial in the amount of noise you want. Within limits of course.
What about the force to make a change? 1kg maybe?
Damn this is a good sounding shifter tho

Does the version 2 also play music or dispense snacks ?

I was going to say the tactile feel would be affected with the dampening of the noise. I think I like the V1 better than the V2. Thanks for the review of both versions.
Hey Barry, could you review the 3DRap mods for the Logitech wheel, pedal and shift?
G'day Barry! Quick question for you, how would you compare the pro sim sq shifter vs the simworx sq shifter?
Cheers, from down under!

Barry, what kind of Flight Sim pedals are you showing us on that wall there (near the wheels)? Looks fancy! Although I wouldn't expect less from you.
MFG Crosswind. Best rudders pedals I have ever had.
Will look into them. I only have got the Saitek ones here, but yeah... those are plastic fantastic. I prefer my pedals like Clubsports, with a little heft to them to stop them from sliding all over the place and have a better feel under foot.
The Crosswind rudder pedals are excellent. Very adjustable, high resolution, great build quality. Once again a product built by an enthusiast.
v1 klink or v2 klonk

What you see is the Pro Sim extension with the stock Pro Sim sequential aluminum knob mounted to it.
Are you not using the HPP pedals anymore?
I still use them.
Sim Racing Garage he uses the Hpp prx pedals, I will say I have not heeled to toe yet, but he makes it look easy, and I am sure it takes many hours to get comfortable. Probably use auto blip as I race till I get some time in on practices with the heel to toe method.
Top
Is it worth the 1000$ they are asking for it
I guess i'm in the minority to like the v2. It sounds snappier like a real gearset would, unlike the clinking on v1
Prefer the sound of the V1 to be honest. The V2 sounds a bit dead.
i think i'd still chose the Manufactory one
Buda Tudor this is for sim racing. Not real cars...
Seth the manufactory is for sim racing
Barry what sim are you playing in the video? That looks like fun.
Tim datoolman It's iRacing. (Global Rallycross)
Jinx shifters are better feeling and no loud ass clanking.
This is so wildly over-engineered. I love it but I wouldn't get one myself.
Really dont like the sound of V2, its like no tactile feedback

Sim Racing Garage Just ordered one after watching your review, i like the fact i can still make it sound like the v1
V2 is worse for me. It's a shame they don't offer the choice.

It's just too expensive
Wow - they are HUUGE!
Heavily over-engineered.
thats true for the price as well
Total over engineering
