Hyryder’s road presence will always be higher than that of Vitara because of Toyota’s branding. Consumers like me who are brand conscious will go for Toyota. I understand that resale value of Maruti will remain high in comparison but I would still prefer getting a better road presence and premium branding of Toyota anyday.

What will you do with road presence when at the end of the day, you are getting lower resale value 👎 bluntly speaking, your Toyota car will lose more value over the years as compared to maruti branding counterpart.

Toyota's sales and service are not what they used to be. They first tried to sell me a recalled HyRyder in February, and then played an April Fool prank that was in very bad taste on 1st April, and then messaged me a month later that I would have to wait till January 2024. So I cancelled my booking.

As far as I can see, the clear demarcation appears to be that, petrol buyers are going for Grand Vitara since Suzuki engine and cheaper that hyryder and hybrid buyers are going for Toyota because it is Toyota's technology and hyryder hybrid is cheaper than grandvitara. So, if you could get us seperate sales figures of the mild hybrid and strong hybrid versons of each of them, that would give us a better picture of the situation.

    • @bsudhiracharya

Yes. Grand Vitara is cheaper for the mild hybrid variants and HyRyder is cheaper for the strong hybrid variants. That could be due to royalty issues for the engine technology of the two different types of engines used.

Hi, thanks for the video. Just one thing Hyryder currently have a waiting period of more than 6 months in Delhi NCR. The prices of Hyryder were announced quite late as compared to Grand vitara and that may be the reason for less sales during this period. Anyways I don't think that Hyryder and Grand vitara would have equal sales considering the points that you have already mentioned in your video. As per my understanding the Hyryder is also a success and we will see more sales in the coming months, thanks...what do you say?

Needs confirmation but I heard somewhere that Toyota has allotted 15-16K production to Suzuki GV and 5-6K production to its own Hyryder..probably anticipating public demand for Suzuki products. If true then it is very likely that Toyota may be able to sell upto 5-6K car per month on full capacity unless they increase assembly lines. It may also be a low risk strategy in the long term considering their experience with Glanza - Baleno thing they did in the past. They just need to come up and declare they are increasing the production from so and so date and deliveries will begin shortly for bookings done.
    Only time will tell.

I booked Hyryder on 20th July, still no idea by when it'll get delivered. I know people who booked as early as first week of July and are still waiting. There is no problem in marketing or any other such thing as claimed in this video. Either Toyota is controlling the supply artificially or there are some issues in the production, something is really fishy. Maybe it is more profitable for Toyota to manufacture GV, who knows.

I think what Naga Prasad analogy is perfect. When magnite is doing good but kick is failing. If we look at the examples shown in the video on Creta Vs Seltos, both are doing good because they try to differentiate their product in their own strengths. Creta is like Maruti but KIA is smart enough to present the product in a different style and user friendly small, small things make big difference to customers. I think Toyota never can match the number of Suzuki in India until they differentiate their products with their own technology strengths..

Lesser sales of Hybrid has nothing to do with demand. Hyryder still enjoys a long waiting list. It is because the car is based on Suzuki's TECT Platform and manufactured at the factory of Toyota Kirloskar Motors Limited at Bidadi, near Bengaluru, in higher ratio for Suzuki (Suzuki:Toyota = 3:1). Hence, naturally the ratio of release of car to the buyers will be in the ratio of 3:1 in favour of Suzuki.

I think most of the people are going for mild hybrid variants and they are cheaper in grand vitara while the strong hybrid variants are cheaper in Toyota side. So the sales figures difference may be due to that. If we check the sales of creta and delirious, the most selling variants are the mid variants and that shows that the vehicle between 12 - 17 lakhs are sold mojorly and in that price point the mild hybrid engines are mostly available and not the strong hybrid.

    Hi Amith ji,
Thanks for the nice video. I like your analogy and the way you present the facts.
I am a big fan of Toyota from a long time and I have been driving Toyota brand from last 18 yrs. I was very excited when I saw the announcement that they were launching Hyryder and booked it in July 2022 without any hesitation. After the launch, when I saw the vehicle, I don't have any further hopes that Toyota will get better in future. When you sit in the car, being a Toyota customer, you feel so sad see the car interiors. You don't feel that we are sitting in a Toyota car. I had to cancel the booking and booked Creta instead :(

Amit ji , I am a fan of yours you are spot on in your analysis. Toyota has always been a arrogant company. Look at Qualis that was a beginning it had roaring sales because except Mahindra no one had a SUV. But still look how cautious they were always underestimating Indian market and customers. Globally no company has the product lineup in SUVs like Toyota, including their Subaru brand .But they always messed up in India, their cars never sold. Maruti can not be matched in terms of dealership network , service points and of course resale value as rightly pointed by you. Only two companies have understood Indian customers in this country Maruti and Hyundai ( Creta has 27 variants) they touch each price point .
I am also a proud owner of a Grand Vitara , having bought it yesterday .

This is total sales number - I would prefer to see the bifurcation of strong hybrid and mild hybrid sales of both Maruti Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder. I have personally seen both cars and test driven both.
My perspective is Maruti is selling mild hybrid which is at lower price point and Toyota is getting customers for strong hybrid - which is expensive and hence lesser numbers. Time will tell the story.
Personally for me, I would be comfortable to buy a Toyota Hyryder if it is strong hybrid - it is Toyota time tested technology and I will be very uncomfortable to send a strong hybrid to Maruti engineers. Toyota india is managing service of Toyota Camry which has strong hybrid and has experience to handle such cars

All of us were so angry with the sales executive.
Even after the unveiling and Launch the showcase product or test drive vehicle wasn't there and they asked us to check the Hyryder which was standing outside the showroom for delivery.
They are so unprofessional that when we asked to make a complain and started to leave, they insisted us to check the delivery vehicle in which the customer was already sitting.
Such bad experience. How can we just go and sit in somebody's brand new car in which the owners were already sitting and taking the demo.
But then we went to another Toyota showroom where the service was good and they even gave us good test drive. But again the waiting period is just so huge.
8-10 months which is almost an year and the price revision is done multiple times during a span of 1 year and in that period there will be other launches from other brands as well.

It's bcoz , Nexa sales people are taking bookings with giving promise of 3 - 4 months waiting. And Toyota Sales people are saying we are not taking bookings and some saying 6-7 months waiting. This is my personal experience

I have booked both Toyota hyryder and grand vitara . On visiting Toyota showroom and asking for delivery approx time I got feeling that mere upar ehsaan kar rahe hai.
Mr X who had my file initially said now it is with Mr Y and next time Mr Y said it is with Mr Z. And finaly I got answer after 3/4 days of trying : 2 months waiting for you

Hello sir, thank you for your videos and guidance.
I am planning to book Hyryder but I am concerned about safety aspect of car since sheet metal and interiors are shaking when pressure is applied. Is this a safe car for my family and will the car be reliable for 10+ years with such build quality?

Sheet metal never reflects on safety, this is silly way to inspect.

Hello sir, sorry to disturb you again. I wanted to get your opinion on one more question.
I am confused between Hyryder strong Hybrid top variant vs Xuv700 AX5 petrol automatic.
My monthly running is 300-400 km, mostly in city. Max 4 people traveling.
I am giving preference to Hyryder because of ventilated seats and 360 camera. Do you think that ventilated seats and 360 camera are useful features?
I stay in Bangalore where temperature reaches 40 degree in summer. In my old car Fiat Palio I felt uncomfortable without ventilated seats, that’s why I am giving importance to it.
Please suggest what would be your choice in this situation.

Ventilated seats are useful rest are not important for a mature & confident driver.
