This song is based on an unused mechanic for Luigi's Mansion where there was supposed to be an *Overall* time limit, so you only had a set amount of time to finish the game, If that ran out, Mario was (In universe) Permanently lost, and thus you get the Game Over of a very visibly depressed Luigi having to leave the mansion, having failed his mission to Save Mario, This PLUS the one lighting glitch in the Attic I believe that causes Luigi's shadow to appear on the roof, Leads to a popular "canon" where, after failing to save Mario, Luigi hangs himself in the mansion. Really messed up lore lol

@@Glar_car Nono, I got to see this happen with a different person that played, they played at the max frame rate, and due to that, the water would raise too fast during the section after 3d Luigi laughs, the health drain is tied to how close the water is to the top of the screen, Max health drain happens when the water rises to the top of the screen.
See this mod is the prime example on why more game companies should do a ToTK and delay the game's release for quality assurance purposes. That way we dont get half baked shit like what happened with Security Breach or with most recent games
@subzu2733 I think you completely skipped passed the message of the fact that game developers should just take their time. I'll say Cyberpunk 2077 is a better example. A game that had a rough launch with many bugs and performance issues, which were fixed later. The reason for this was releasing the game without enough quality testing. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom I'd the opposite. It was announced YEARS ago and it kept getting delayed, however due to these delays we got a game that was extremely well polished and made.

Lets finally put the madness to rest Mod Context: It’s A Me and Starman Slaughter’s Mario is based off of a VERY old picture of a creepy mario with sharp teeth holding a knife with the text “mario get you next time”, the Peach.EXE is based on a similar picture with Peach, and the Yoshi is just simply from a Yoshi.EXE game So Cool has Chris Pratt…I don’t think I need to explain this one Nourishing Blood has Grandad, a bootleg character who got popularized from vinesauce. He’s basically a meme character, nothing much to it. MARIO SING AND GAME RHYTHM 9 has Somari from a bootleg game of the same name, which was just Sonic 1 with Mario replacing Sonic Alone is based on both the beta of Luigi’s mansion, in which there bad ending where mario is trapped forever and luigi gets depressed over it, and the hanging luigi glitch from luigi’s mansion, in which talking on a phone in the attic when lightning strikes will cause your shadow to be slack and raised under a ceiling beam as if it was hanging from a noose Thalassophobia is based on L is Real, an urban legend about Luigi being playable in SM64. On the fountain star statue behind the castle in the game, in blurry letters it appears to say “L is real 2401”, which lead to many people to believe that luigi was an unlockable character in the game with even IGN offering a $100 bounty to prove that L is Real was real. And then, on July 25th 2020 (24 years and 01 month after the release of SM64 in japan), the existence of a luigi model and voice clips were confirmed, completing the prophecy of L is real 2401... Oh God No and I Hate You is based on IHateYou.exe, a story where luigi betrays mario and mario is forced to kill his own brother by knocking him into lava. This creepypasta is...a VERY confusing one, Mario being trapped in a place called the lost woods being hunted by a ghostly figure resembling Peach, with a ton of various things happening due to doing specific things, many endings, constant game resets, and even getting messages by hacking the game and/or changing things about the game It should be noted that the backstory of this game is barely explained, practically unknown, so it’s all up to your imagination as to what happened to Peach and why Mario is wrapped up in this nightmare Bad Day is based on Super Bad Mario, a pair of videos in which several fail clips have mario edited in to make him the secret cause of people’s fails irl Day Out is based on Luigi’s Day Out, an old animation where Mario is a punk and Luigi is innocent and childish despite being 35, Mario being forced to take Luigi along with him one day by his mother. The place the song takes place in and the interactions are from the actual animation, but instead of BF and GF, it was Waluigi and Daisy. Dictator is based on Hidden Histories Mario, where due to Mario being married to Peach and being seen as a hero, it helped him rise to a position of power and soon allowed him to become a dictator of the mushroom kingdom, where he’d show his true colors. From killing sonic after he didn’t make ends meet of helping bring down sega, to giving peach botched plastic surgery and kicking her to the curb when she wronged him, this Mario is nothing short of a remorseless monster. The setting of this song is based on sonic’s death in that video Race Traitors has Racist Mario, a Flashgitz animation in which mario kills everyone since they invited non nintendo characters to race No Hope has Devil Mario from the series Power Star, in which mario is possessed and his body used to collect the power stars to destroy everything and everyone Golden Land has GB and since V1 he has gotten his own creepypasta, Black & White. He was created on accident by Christine, a girl responsible for making a new Nintendo console known only as “Project: Atlantis”, which was a collaboration with a company called OptiSoft. Starting as just an array of blinking white dots in the shape of a person, he would begin to quickly learn when connected to the internet, and became various characters based on the cartridge the data was put into, becoming Mario when put on a SML2 cartridge. She’d spend weeks experimenting with him, ignoring his cries that they were painful, until he one day had enough and said “You think this is some kind of game, right? Pretend you’re some kind of God? This is MY world, I’ll show you who a God is” and the screen went dark and the cartridge burned up. That night she dreamt that she was Luigi in a monochrome world and would come face to face with GB and would get chased and attacked by him, getting drowned before she woke up. With this news, Nintendo cut contact with OptiSoft and the company soon went backrupt and everything was auctioned off, including GB’s cartridge, now in circulation with access to many more potential victims… No Party has DJ Hallyboo from the Mario Party DS Anti-Piracy ARG, in which he punishes a man named Joey Perleoni for pirating mario party DS. His design is based on MC Ballyhoo, the host of Mario Party 8, and the writing mechanic is based on something he made Joey do in the ARG, but the word CRIMINAL was made impossible Paranoia has Mr Virtual, a mario.exe who was made around a year or 2 ago. He is a being that resides in the virtual boy consoles and manifest in the heads of whoever plays the console, causing hallucinations, paranoia, nausea, insanity, and eventually persuasion into self inflicted death, all for his enjoyment. His various victims include Samantha Heathers: who, after being ‘stalked’ by a large figure and being admitted to a mental hospital, had gouged her own eyes out, warped her face, had a contorted smile, and wrote the letter V all over the walls with her blood (she died on MAR10 Day). Charley Heathers: who came down with a fever and was found dead in her hospital room with her face smashed in. And the one investing the case, Detective Thomas Anderson: who, after playing the virtual boy to find the root of the cause of the previous 2’s deaths, was found dead in his office, days after going to the hospital for nausea, with his jaw nowhere to be found and eyes sunken into his sockets.........no one has picked up this investigation since then, likely out of fear The place where the song takes place is the virtual boy game Mario Clash, a reference to Thomas’ death since the game he played to find the source of the deaths was a pirated copy of Mario Clash, with Mr. Virtual manifesting on the piracy screen Overdue has Mr. L from the rom hack TooLate.EXE. Mr. L is Luigi’s vengeful spirit who came after Mario after he accidentally killed him by cutting the bridge with Luigi on it, sending him into the lava below. He put Mario through various torments before killing him in the same way he died, cutting the bridge with him on it. The name ‘TooLate’ comes from the fact that your actions don’t matter in the game, you’re already too late to save mario Powerdown and Demise has MX from Mario 85, a mario.exe who pulled a child named Lucas into a cursed copy of Super Mario Bros, turning him into Luigi, and torments him for eternity as his plaything Promotion has Stanley from the SM64 Classified series (by the youtuber Greenio). He is an AI program that controls the personalization of SM64, which evolved outside of it’s boundaries until achieving full sentience and the ability to affect reality, growing to hate it’s creators. The first phase and the left pose of the second phase is a reference to the video “Promo Show” (though I think Greenio said that the mario in promo show is NOT Stanley), and the second phase is a reference to the video “09.14.96” (which IS Stanley) Abandoned is based on the Classified series telling of the L is Real story The End is based on the Classified video 09.02.97, with the mario suit being from the super mario-a-thon All Stars has Ultra M, Omega, LG, W4R, and Y0SH. Originally, the song was called Final Encounter and had only Omega, but the song was scrapped after it was leaked a long time ago and Omega was removed for a while before they eventually brought him back, with his idle and some of his sprites based off Final Encounter. I don’t know who made Ultra M, but Omega was made by sandii and marco, and LG, W4R, and Y0SH are simply just minions of Omega (Ultra M’s lore is in the funk kast trailer) Unbeatable is based on a real and very cursed nintendo nes commercial, just look it up, it’s shocking they thought this was a good way to sell their product

honestly power star was one of my favorite animations as a kid, so seeing it here is such a feel-good feeling for me. especially when the game over uses his iconic line, and that it shows a boo when he's losing.
2:40:40 First off, holy SHIT!!! Second, I kinda want a story arc where the Sonic.EXEs hear about how the Marios have successfully killed BF. And they. Are. PISSED!!! Not because these guys killed him before they did, but because they KILLED BF, the guy who basically gave them new found popularity and who they, through many, many mods, would begrudgingly call a friend (excluding Majin and Sunky, who liked BF from the start). And now..... the Marios are about to have fucking RAGNAROK UPON THEM!!!
This mod is INSANE! All that I can think of now is a final act where those not shown to be dead in the mod (Bowser, Toad, Waluigi, possibly Sonic(.exe)) to come and challenge Mario.
This is my favorite mod of all time and it probably allways will be. Both the art and songs are some of the best I've seen in any fnf mod. As a huge fan of Mario and Mario creepypastas, I understood and loved just about all the characters and references. The ending was fucking epic and also really sad. The nearly 2 year wait was more than worth it.

W Mod worth the 2 Year Wait And bruh people need to relax the ending is Amazing, just because the main character died it’s not that big of a Deal, BF pained the price of continuing to fight and breaking Ultra M’s deal at the start so that’s what happens, it sucks that everything dies done literally at the finale and that’s what’s makes it good Also I blame BF who tf puts a bloody old game card into their Nes System
About the ending: I have the feeling the story isn't over. I don't know if there will be another mod following this story down the line, but Pico is still alive, and there are entities trapped in Mad Mario's world that may be willing to push back against him, perhaps find a way to bring bf and gf back and get both that happy ending and their freedom from the cartridge. Only time will truly tell, but in my own head-canon at least that is what I envision happening. One thing I was curious to though was if Mad Mario would have upheld his end of the bargain if bf had done that last song instead of smooth-brain booking it after the second one. He's demented, but he may have been true to his word regarding deals he makes, which will make any chance of escape now all the more difficult, but once again, will just have to wait and see.
Some stories can conclude on a sad end, but as long as everything is wrapped up, I feel fine. Saying this I think this story showed us a new perspective: BF cant do what the fuck he wants and expect to win. While many mods seem to interpret him as this invincible le funny force that gets everyone to rap, he is still a normal ass teenager (from what I know) in canon. While he might posses incredible willpower through the love for GF, it may not always help you against eldritch horrors beyond your comprehension. I am content with this ending because this mod feels ACTUALLY finished in comparison to everything we have gotten over the years, but I certainly would not mind a new update where BF undergoes character development and comes back stronger than ever. I just hope that they dont run out of ideas and start putting OCs everywhere. While a few of them are fine (I feel like this mod has a nice count on original OCs that are not part of the culture and history f.e. Turmoil), but put too many and the mod feels kinda bland imo. This mod has a strong identity rn, especially because of its existant plot. I hope it stays this way... ...damn, sorry for rambling on a month old comment haha

SPOILERS!!! Its inevitable that people are going to want the option for a happy ending (unless there's already one in the mod that no one has found yet. Maybe a specific parameter needs to be met like Wednesday Infidelity). I'd be fine if they never add one in but I do have some points to bring up. 1) They could be add an ending after beating any songs locked until after All-Stars is completed and then replaying All-Stars. You can even look at Ultra M's icon on the bottom of the screen in Act 4 and see that icons of the other characters are cycling above his. Maybe that's just to denote the motif/reference of the song those characters are a part of? (I'd need to listen to All-Stars and the rest of the soundtrack carefully). At some point you see Mr. Sys' icon even though you never play Unbeatable until AFTER All-Stars is completed. 2) At the beginning, Mario mentioned his connection to Daddy Dearest. If if Daddy is powerful enough to seal away beings with reality-bending godlike powers, I doubt GF blipping out of existence would be something that would go unnoticed (also what even IS he? A demonic-looking hero or a villain removing competition? Mario DID call him a traitor, so... hmm...) Sure, it's a non-canon mod, but bringing up that connection, that Chekhov's gun, and it going nowhere kinda bugs me. Though, that connection has been brought up before in the base game and in other mods and he never intervened. Heck, we even saw the "all-seeing eye" just before All-Stars that has popped up in other mods (I think Hex was the first and I can't recall if it was in the base game somewhere). Maybe this Mario.exe is just another manifestation of whatever the eye represents, even if the manifestation isn't cognizant of it. Anyways, yeah, *where's Daddy Dearest in all of this?* 3) Unless I missed something, we never saw what happened to Pico after "Overdue" (Excluding No Party's Game Over screen). It just faded to black after Pico called TooLate.exe an asshole. Just like how Omega, LG, W4R, and YOSH distracted BF from whatever Ultra M was doing, Pico could have jumped in and done something to keep them occupied. Another loose end unless I missed something, though one could easily say Ultra M killed him off screen (maybe that's what happened). Anyways, Pico is resourceful and easily pissed off so you'd think he'd go down fighting.

In case you dont know, The Mario Painting is supposed to be like, THE mario in this case. This song is based on an unused mechanic for Luigi's Mansion where there was supposed to be an *Overall* time limit, so you only had a set amount of time to finish the game, If that ran out, Mario was (In universe) Permanently lost, and thus you get the Game Over of a very visibly depressed Luigi having to leave the mansion, having failed his mission to Save Mario, This PLUS the one lighting glitch in the Attic I believe that causes Luigi's shadow to appear on the roof, Leads to a popular "canon" where, after failing to save Mario, Luigi hangs himself in the mansion.

@@Glar_car Nono, I got to see this happen with a different person that played, they played at the max frame rate, and due to that, the water would raise too fast during the section after 3d Luigi laughs, the health drain is tied to how close the water is to the top of the screen, Max health drain happens when the water rises to the top of the screen.

I think you completely skipped passed the message of the fact that game developers should just take their time. I'll say Cyberpunk 2077 is a better example. A game that had a rough launch with many bugs and performance issues, which were fixed later. The reason for this was releasing the game without enough quality testing. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom I'd the opposite. It was announced YEARS ago and it kept getting delayed, however due to these delays we got a game that was extremely well polished and made.

Alone is based on both the beta of Luigi’s mansion, in which there bad ending where mario is trapped forever and luigi gets depressed over it, and the hanging luigi glitch from luigi’s mansion, in which talking on a phone in the attic when lightning strikes will cause your shadow to be slack and raised under a ceiling beam as if it was hanging from a noose
Thalassophobia is based on L is Real, an urban legend about Luigi being playable in SM64. On the fountain star statue behind the castle in the game, in blurry letters it appears to say “L is real 2401”, which lead to many people to believe that luigi was an unlockable character in the game with even IGN offering a $100 bounty to prove that L is Real was real. And then, on July 25th 2020 (24 years and 01 month after the release of SM64 in japan), the existence of a luigi model and voice clips were confirmed, completing the prophecy of L is real 2401...
Oh God No and I Hate You is based on IHateYou.exe, a story where luigi betrays mario and mario is forced to kill his own brother by knocking him into lava. The eyeless boos, “I HATE YOU” blood text, and multiple drowned mario corpses being from it, and his look in I Hate You from the game’s ending screen. It should be noted that while the creepypasta was meant to be a joke, the rom hack for it is not

This creepypasta is...a VERY confusing one, Mario being trapped in a place called the lost woods being hunted by a ghostly figure resembling Peach, with a ton of various things happening due to doing specific things, many endings, constant game resets, and even getting messages by hacking the game and/or changing things about the game
It should be noted that the backstory of this game is barely explained, practically unknown, so it’s all up to your imagination as to what happened to Peach and why Mario is wrapped up in this nightmare
Bad Day is based on Super Bad Mario, a pair of videos in which several fail clips have mario edited in to make him the secret cause of people’s fails irl
Day Out is based on Luigi’s Day Out, an old animation where Mario is a punk and Luigi is innocent and childish despite being 35, Mario being forced to take Luigi along with him one day by his mother. The place the song takes place in and the interactions are from the actual animation, but instead of BF and GF, it was Waluigi and Daisy.
Dictator is based on Hidden Histories Mario, where due to Mario being married to Peach and being seen as a hero, it helped him rise to a position of power and soon allowed him to become a dictator of the mushroom kingdom, where he’d show his true colors. From killing sonic after he didn’t make ends meet of helping bring down sega, to giving peach botched plastic surgery and kicking her to the curb when she wronged him, this Mario is nothing short of a remorseless monster. The setting of this song is based on sonic’s death in that video
Race Traitors has Racist Mario, a Flashgitz animation in which mario kills everyone since they invited non nintendo characters to race
No Hope has Devil Mario from the series Power Star, in which mario is possessed and his body used to collect the power stars to destroy everything and everyone
Golden Land has GB and since V1 he has gotten his own creepypasta, Black & White. He was created on accident by Christine, a girl responsible for making a new Nintendo console known only as “Project: Atlantis”, which was a collaboration with a company called OptiSoft. Starting as just an array of blinking white dots in the shape of a person, he would begin to quickly learn when connected to the internet, and became various characters based on the cartridge the data was put into, becoming Mario when put on a SML2 cartridge. She’d spend weeks experimenting with him, ignoring his cries that they were painful, until he one day had enough and said “You think this is some kind of game, right? Pretend you’re some kind of God? This is MY world, I’ll show you who a God is” and the screen went dark and the cartridge burned up.
That night she dreamt that she was Luigi in a monochrome world and would come face to face with GB and would get chased and attacked by him, getting drowned before she woke up. The tv would then turn on and his arm reached out and grabbed her, throwing her around, before GB stepped out and the screen shattered, going up to her and saying “You and I are gonna have so much fun for a LONG time.”
The next morning, she was found dead, body rotten, face disfigured, a huge hole in her chest, and her blood a black viscous ooze. With this news, Nintendo cut contact with OptiSoft and the company soon went backrupt and everything was auctioned off, including GB’s cartridge, now in circulation with access to many more potential victims…
No Party has DJ Hallyboo from the Mario Party DS Anti-Piracy ARG, in which he punishes a man named Joey Perleoni for pirating mario party DS. His design is based on MC Ballyhoo, the host of Mario Party 8, and the writing mechanic is based on something he made Joey do in the ARG, but the word CRIMINAL was made impossible
Paranoia has Mr Virtual, a mario.exe who was made around a year or 2 ago. Overdue has Mr. L from the rom hack TooLate.EXE. Mr. L is Luigi’s vengeful spirit who came after Mario after he accidentally killed him by cutting the bridge with Luigi on it, sending him into the lava below. He put Mario through various torments before killing him in the same way he died, cutting the bridge with him on it. The name ‘TooLate’ comes from the fact that your actions don’t matter in the game, you’re already too late to save mario
Powerdown and Demise has MX from Mario 85, a mario.exe who pulled a child named Lucas into a cursed copy of Super Mario Bros, turning him into Luigi, and torments him for eternity as his plaything
Promotion has Stanley from the SM64 Classified series (by the youtuber Greenio). He is an AI program that controls the personalization of SM64, which evolved outside of it’s boundaries until achieving full sentience and the ability to affect reality, growing to hate it’s creators. The first phase and the left pose of the second phase is a reference to the video “Promo Show” (though I think Greenio said that the mario in promo show is NOT Stanley), and the second phase is a reference to the video “09.14.96” (which IS Stanley)
Abandoned is based on the Classified series telling of the L is Real story

Originally, the song was called Final Encounter and had only Omega, but the song was scrapped after it was leaked a long time ago and Omega was removed for a while before they eventually brought him back, with his idle and some of his sprites based off Final Encounter. I don’t know who made Ultra M, but Omega was made by sandii and marco, and LG, W4R, and Y0SH are simply just minions of Omega

This is my favorite mod of all time and it probably allways will be. Both the art and songs are some of the best I've seen in any fnf mod. As a huge fan of Mario and Mario creepypastas, I understood and loved just about all the characters and references. The ending was fucking epic and also really sad. The nearly 2 year wait was more than worth it.

About the ending:
I have the feeling the story isn't over. I don't know if there will be another mod following this story down the line, but Pico is still alive, and there are entities trapped in Mad Mario's world that may be willing to push back against him, perhaps find a way to bring bf and gf back and get both that happy ending and their freedom from the cartridge. Only time will truly tell, but in my own head-canon at least that is what I envision happening. One thing I was curious to though was if Mad Mario would have upheld his end of the bargain if bf had done that last song instead of smooth-brain booking it after the second one. He's demented, but he may have been true to his word regarding deals he makes, which will make any chance of escape now all the more difficult, but once again, will just have to wait and see.
Some stories can conclude on a sad end, but as long as everything is wrapped up, I feel fine. Saying this I think this story showed us a new perspective: BF cant do what the fuck he wants and expect to win. While many mods seem to interpret him as this invincible le funny force that gets everyone to rap, he is still a normal ass teenager (from what I know) in canon. While he might posses incredible willpower through the love for GF, it may not always help you against eldritch horrors beyond your comprehension. I am content with this ending because this mod feels ACTUALLY finished in comparison to everything we have gotten over the years, but I certainly would not mind a new update where BF undergoes character development and comes back stronger than ever. I just hope that they dont run out of ideas and start putting OCs everywhere. While a few of them are fine (I feel like this mod has a nice count on original OCs that are not part of the culture and history f.e. Turmoil), but put too many and the mod feels kinda bland imo. This mod has a strong identity rn, especially because of its existant plot. I hope it stays this way...

Its inevitable that people are going to want the option for a happy ending (unless there's already one in the mod that no one has found yet. Maybe a specific parameter needs to be met like Wednesday Infidelity). I'd be fine if they never add one in but I do have some points to bring up.
1) They could be add an ending after beating any songs locked until after All-Stars is completed and then replaying All-Stars. You can even look at Ultra M's icon on the bottom of the screen in Act 4 and see that icons of the other characters are cycling above his. Maybe that's just to denote the motif/reference of the song those characters are a part of? (I'd need to listen to All-Stars and the rest of the soundtrack carefully). At some point you see Mr. Sys' icon even though you never play Unbeatable until AFTER All-Stars is completed.
2) At the beginning, Mario mentioned his connection to Daddy Dearest. If if Daddy is powerful enough to seal away beings with reality-bending godlike powers, I doubt GF blipping out of existence would be something that would go unnoticed (also what even IS he? A demonic-looking hero or a villain removing competition? Mario DID call him a traitor, so... hmm...) Sure, it's a non-canon mod, but bringing up that connection, that Chekhov's gun, and it going nowhere kinda bugs me. Though, that connection has been brought up before in the base game and in other mods and he never intervened. Heck, we even saw the "all-seeing eye" just before All-Stars that has popped up in other mods (I think Hex was the first and I can't recall if it was in the base game somewhere). Maybe this Mario.exe is just another manifestation of whatever the eye represents, even if the manifestation isn't cognizant of it. Anyways, yeah, *where's Daddy Dearest in all of this?*
3) Unless I missed something, we never saw what happened to Pico after "Overdue" (Excluding No Party's Game Over screen). It just faded to black after Pico called TooLate.exe an asshole. Just like how Omega, LG, W4R, and YOSH distracted BF from whatever Ultra M was doing, Pico could have jumped in and done something to keep them occupied. Another loose end unless I missed something, though one could easily say Ultra M killed him off screen (maybe that's what happened). Anyways, Pico is resourceful and easily pissed off so you'd think he'd go down fighting.

You know, I like to think of the end credit images as another reality. Like I believe Gf and Bf died (and honestly I like mods like that, not gonna go into detail why though) but also that the end images were an alternate reality, where if they didn’t break the deal (by running away and taking the warp star) and won the third song that the end pictures may have happened, making both the real ending and the credit images real and canon like some of the developers of the mod said
