Queens, NY- Heavy snow makes travel nearly impossible but it doesn't stop a guy on a moped. A good samaritan uses snow blower to try and get a delivery van unstuck. One car stuck while a minivan spins his way up a hill. Semi trucks are stuck on an onramp to the interstate forcing police to shut it down. A vehicle slides through an intersection hitting another car. People out in the heavy snow.

We lived In Klamath Falls, Oregon for 25 years. We would get so much snow, we had to shovel our roof!!! We didn’t need a ladder to climb onto our roof!!!!

It's an option to stay home for those with non essential jobs. It's an option for those who dont live paycheck to paycheck. staying home is not an option for many others.. are you saying police and emts should just stay home when the weather is bad? Are you suggesting that when theres snow on the road, all grocery stores and gas stations should be closed so the employees can just stay home. Real question is what's wrong with your thinking...?

If employees cannot get to work, neither can customers. Let the manager/ owner stay there thru the storm with 1 or 2 employees who volunteered. Gotta realize, smart people still watch the weather forecast. Many others don't and wake up shocked & unprepared.
And what about medics and cops, tow truck drivers, truck drivers, firefighters, power technicians. When your power goes out during bad weather I'll bet you wish those people working on restoring power didnt stay home like you so easily suggested

You don't know anyone in those professions. Otherwise, you'd know that they prepare in advance. Staff will sleep at the facility or stay at hotels within walking distance. Some will stay with friends or family nearby. Fact remains: being an essential worker doesn't give you or your car the ability to fly above snow or melt it with a laser. This video is funny b/c dumb people thought they could push tons of snow with their cars.
I'm best friends with a paramedic. My ex is a cop and a medic. I used to manage a grocery store. I work with truck drivers every single day. I know many people in the trade industry since I am a technician myself. You dont know me but you're telling me who I know and don't know? What I am simply saying is that lots of people cant just stay home. There are jobs to do and many of us figure it out. It's not an option for some people and if it is, that's a huge luxury and many of those people with that luxury dont appreciate the work of others and insult them by saying, "shoulda stayed home" "just stay home" "is it worth your life" or calling people dumb or crazy for trying to do their jobs. Without those people brave/prepared enough to be outside of the comfort of their homes during bad conditions, the people inside their homes would be screwed. Facts over fiction making quick assumptions with little information that turn out to be fictional. Check yourself

I lived in Queens for almost 3 winters , 1988,89 and 90. Not a single snow fell. So Sad. Looks like it snowed every year after I left. So many blizzards since 1990.
Just moved from Maryland to Palm Springs. This is delightful.

especially around Niagara Falls. My brother & sister in law recently moved from NY to So Carolina and will still get a their seasons,just not those horrible noreasterns or blizzard.
@@chevychase9797 My dad retired from the Niagara Falls Fire Department in 1975. My parents had bought a home in Boca Raton,Fl to be closer to his mom. Dad hated Florida & wanted, after a few years, to return to NF. Mom hated cold so they stayed . Us 4 adults came down . Sister & family moved to N Florida, brother & sister in law back to Rochester,NY. Dad passed some years ago so my brother & I stayed with her until her passing . We live in West Palm Beach in a 55 + community. The entire area of Palm Beach County has become overly populated,not really happy here. My brother & sis in law
had a stunning home in Rochester. Taxes were killing them.Then apparently, the Erie Canal which edged their property was in dire need of repair ignored for 3 years by all government representatives.Instead they slapped an expensive assessment on all homeowners. Gorgeous home on 1 1/2 acre land.
Knowing them,they will be happy in many ways. No one knows better than you

Even with 4x4 you need real snow tires not the all=season tires they put on tires these days. The last car stuck in the snow was a subaru wrx. With proper real snow tires it would have no problem moving. It's all about tires.
Why is that Subaru stuck? Advertised as unstoppable all wheel drive vehicle with symmetrical all wheel drive!
Best part of winter is watching it on tv from Florida!
Here is a tip. If it has that much snow Or mud when you start out from a dead stop, Put your car in low. 1st or second gear.
Yes it is but if you have a automatic carWhen you put on the gas it shifts gears on its own . Yes? Well if you put your gear shift in low, !st Or 2nd, then you cant take off to fast and slide. Especially if you drive a rear wheel drive. worse yet if its a dodge challenger R/T V8 HEMI.
Step on brake lightly and both tires will spin equally. Eliminates the one wheel spinning uselessly
Turn traction control "off."
Put snow tires on your vehicle or wait till it melts plain and simple / I have driven in this type of weather for 50 years I don't get stuck / Canada is watching

I was in one of those snow storm but all of us in the residential area had to leave the cars on the road (no way we could go up the hill) and walked home.. When it stopped snowing, two of the neighbors, one a Ski instructor equipped with a van and towing chains, and another that owned a towing truck, volunteer to go and tow the cars back to their owner's house. They would pick up one neighbor each to guide them to their car and soon enough they were back with the car, pick up another neighbor and do the same.. We were snow bound for 7 days so, all the ladies of the house start cooking and we would get together in different homes in the evening for good food, drinks and an unforgettable friendship.. Those were the good old days and the best winter I ever had...

I just drove through deeper snow then this the other day. I have all terrain tires with the snowflake on the mountain symbol. Guess I made a good choice. Stay safe folks...
When the realization hits that All Season Tires, are actually 3 season tires.
That type of rubber compound seems to be from Florida, it doesn't like the single digit celsius temps...or lower. 😄
I've never had any problems with all season tires in the snow. Maybe it's just the brand. 🤷♂️

Studded tires are used in winter.
I was always told to carry a bit of thin rope in the car. If you get stuck in the snow tie around the tyres of your driving wheels ( usually front ones these days!). Instant temporary snow chains. UNLESS you have those fancy wheels with silly tyres on them and then there isnt room for the rope!
Meanwhile Canada marches on in the snow.... With little or no problems and of course good winter tires.
No experience with snow; now you have so learn.
That storm system was here from 3:30 Saturday afternoon until Sunday midnight. Hammond, Indiana we got about 12 inches of snow. Shoveled and shoveled and shoveled. Everytime l turned around, more snow. Goodbye January, hello February 2021❄

To be honest why people even think they can get somewhere when the streets are so packed of snow. I went to the train station and it was closed there was no service so I went back home.

Ahh I love a good cup of whiskey and watching the lower states deal with snow. I laugh so hard. Not one person had winter tires, chains, or and sort of clue how to get a vehicle to move in snow. Its like watching the Paralympics at 2x normal speed. Holy crap if you can't laugh at that you have no soul.

I thought New Yorkers were used to snow. When we get our 1st snow each year in Montana, we get lots of accidents. Then people remember to slow down. Never have used snow tires, just AWD. Love my Outback!
