My brother had a motorcycle stolen from him in Montana recently. It was recovered by the CHP in Stockton, CA and sold by the tow company within a week. The letter from the CHP stating the vehicle was recovered hadn't even arrived in the mail in that amount of time. There is no way on Earth this should be legal. I can't legally profit from stolen goods, why should they be able to?
When I was a locksmith many years ago I did a lot of repair work on stolen cars. That introduced me to the towing business. OMG there were so many shady towing companies and most of the tow truck drivers were convicted felons. They knew every angle and trick to line their pockets at the expense of car owners. They usually worked in conjunction with junk yards and these junk yards had a communications network (prior to the internet) and they would actively look to tow cars that had valuable parts like the front end clip where they could quickly part out the car and ship the parts to other states for thousands of dollars. Then they would notify the police that they had towed a stripped totaled car. The owners would be notified and if they had insurance they would get a small settlement from the insurance company. The owners would have the choice of paying exorbitant towing and storage fees or they could sign the title over so the car could be scrapped. In some cases, if the owner of the towing company liked the car they would strip the car, report the "stolen" car and if they could get the owner to turn over the title, they would reassemble the car and have a nice car for just the price to take off, and put back on the front end assembly. Avoid doing business with towing companies and if your in an accident have them tow the car to your home otherwise they will tow the car to a ripoff mechanic that pays the tow truck driver to bring them business. I've seen tow truck drivers refuse to tow a car to someone's home because they were required by their boss to take crashed cars to specific body shops. They really seek to prey on women who are shook up after being in an accident.
On the totem pole, tow truck drivers are under lawyer's. They are sooo scummy. I worked at a tow place for a very short time...too scummy, hadta leave. Predators
If the man would have registered the vehicle like he should have he would have received the letter. That being said when the company called the police they should have taken the vehicle
I’m sure they do this to many cars and get away with it. I’m glad the owner got his car back, that towing company needs to get their license revoked and the owner should be thrown in jail. .
Wow I love the Subaru fan club love I live next door to the dealer in video and had my Subaru stolen on 2/24/23 it has since been(3/5) "recovered" by the always gentleman & scholarly folks at 21st century towing they will not allow me to get inside the card to retrieve my bill of sale as I bought in it 14 months ago even received moving violations and have the offer up transaction on phone from off. Up where I purchased Lucy the 1999 subi wagon. Unfortunately alot like this fellow I'd fallen in love with it done hundreds of hours and thousands of hours of mtnc. Upgrades&repairs only to have these stolen car vultures practically laugh me off. It's horrendous the way they treat victims of a crime as though they'd stole they're own belongings and wheels to boot, I lost irreplaceable photos, my original GED, all of my work/personal tools but mostly my faith in any good this world had to offer
It works like this. Every tow company is out to rip off every potential car scooped up. And Oregon, is ready and willing to cause such theft to the average driver. For instance, have a look at Portland and the condition as shooting, vandalism, theft and rampage...with such no perp is jailed much. What I wonder, is why anyone would want to own a business there....and next....who would want to go there with such threats.
I've helped find a stolen camper 2x ( same camper) and a boat and I've also found my own truck all with help from Facebook and Craigslist if something is stolen saturate every platform u can with pics and info
Hehe shady tow truck drivers. Like its a shocker if the state would go after the crooks . But when crooks work for the state why would they go after a croo
Watch out for Retriever towing, they tow people’s cars when they shouldn’t. They go after nice cars where they know where there’s money! They tow on Private property’s. I’m dealing with it now. They towed me out of my paid spot I was a foot over the line. No one parks next to me,I come out 30 mins later it’s gone! My leasing off ice said they can’t do that! Their VERY ignorant and the women that answers phones calls. $300 I had paid for release of my pick up. I’m going after them now. I wanted the pics they took and they tell u to go online under their name and they don’t get back to you. The reviews are so bad and they have been sued. I seen them in where I live a few weeks ago and drove up to the man that towed my truck,as he lies and said no he didn’t but ok. Time I was done with him he hasn’t been back here since. So you tell me if they wasn’t doing this illegally..Scums to no end!

If your car is stolen by law you should have to pay to get it back.
These people are victims 🤔
Guess he should have registered his car?....
Exactly! If he would have registered the car then this would have gone in his favor.

Arrest the tow truck driver, that’s your culprit.
