My transmission has a knocking noise and I wonder if its one of those gears. When idling you can hear it and when driving it, it gets louder. I have a 2006 Tiburon 6 speed manual transmission. Great video.
You sure it’s the transmission? Not the engine with rod knock? Normally if a manual transmission has a noise like a knock like sound it’s the throw out bearing going bad. Push the clutch in and it goes away it’s throw out bearing
Excellent video!!! Took the engine and trans outta my 06. Have you compiled any thing on the detent spring? I remember you saying something about the fidanza flywheel throwing your engine off balance, would it still apply to a N/A set up?
Excellent video. I've got an early production (first quarter of 2000), Accent, and have managed to put 300,100 miles on it. I'd be driving it still, but the drivers side differential bearing finally blew out on it. It's the bearing right behind the trans-axle seal. Funny thing, when you pulled the diff out in your video, the bearings on both sides of it look totally different than mine. Mine looks like a race with several ball-bearings in it, whereas yours looks like a standard tapered roller bearing type. Any idea what's going on here? I've only ever run two Hyundai's: an Accent and an Elantra, and I've never popped the trans apart on 'em. I'm looking to get all the right parts together before I rebuild. Anything else I should replace while I'm in there? Thanks, man.
@@PATuners Awesome. I'm picking up those bearings, pullin' this thing and crackin' the case! Any other bearings or seals I should tackle once I've got it apart?
Great video :) I know it was a while ago now but do you know how much power you were making to be munching transmission each year? I see in you're other videos about running 28-30psi of boost. I've seen people say the m5bf2 are capable upto 450hp on new tiburaon, but information is limited and doesn't have much detail. I just got a quaife qdh8b lsd and a turbo manifold for my 2005 Elantra 2.0l and I'm concerned about destroying the trans.
The transmission are cheap so why worry. Hp don’t break them hp does tq I run anywhere from 400whp 387tq 500whp 426tq at the levels on stock go through a few a year if drive like I do and i recommend changing the single disk clutch disk each time you break one for insurance. If your looking for just dependability keep it very low horsepower and money is issue but these things are so cheap that’s why I build them
@@PATuners Thanks for the info I appreciate it! I'm planning for 200kw at the wheels so well below what you run so hopefully I wont destroy the gearbox very often. It's not the cost that's the problem it's more having the car in pieces for months while I'll build up the will power to get parts and rebuild it XD. It's a daily driver with a hillclimb once a month.
You could try use a screwdriver pray it around/spin it to the threads are facing the bolt hole again. If not got pull the transmission take case off to line it back up
@@PATuners okay thanks, ya I've heard those are the strongest ones. I'm using a m5bf1 which hasn't broken yet luckily but I'm not making as much power as you. Nothing on detent spring. Fidanza light weight flywheel prefect for NA. I have one I’d sell for $200 plus shipping

Alpha diff is different than a beta diff so yes takes different bearings
