I don't know if you'll ever read this... but my moms best friend died on PSA flight 182. Her name was Lynnette Cherry and she was a flight attendant. My mom gave me her middle name, Louise. Rest in peace Lynn. Thank you for covering that story.
one has to wonder. did they say it as a sort of prayer, like a last words into the ether sort of thing... or did they say it fully Knowing that it was being recorded on the black box so she would have their Actual Words to hear after the crash? but does it really matter, i guess... whatever the intent, what's done is done and i doubt in the end if it was much consolation to the poor mother. her child was gone. knowing for sure that they loved her would be like a drop of water in a wild fire.
@thecomedypilot5894 definately pilots leave messages all the time. It's recorded last words. He knew how much it was gonna hurt her. He made sure his mom knew he loved her.
Idk why but that made me cry. My mom is a fckin nightmare, and the thought that theirs was so important to them that it was the last thing they said before dying is just... so beautiful but so sad.
It is I remember when my mom was talking about the hot air balloon and how we might go I’m so glad we never went when my mom said that we might go I just got this bad feeling
I mean nobody forces these people to do dangerous shit but I guess when you're privileged you do dumb shit. I couldntell you growing up I never considered any of that because I was too busy just making enough to survive on a daily basis
People who aren't related to you shouldn't take a life insurance on you. The insurance company should also notify people about it so that they can see the red flag and escape.
It should be illegal. It should also be illegal for anyone to take out a life insurance policy on their own child, too. The problem is the type of people who own life insurance companies don't care if some people get murdered because of them. They just count their $$$ and ignore it.
Actually, the fact that they had to pay out on a life insurance policy THE DAY AFTER it was taken out, should've been a huge tip-off that police needed to take a closer look at the "accident." Every time I try to collect from insurance for a legit accident, it's like pulling teeth. I'm amazed the insurance company didn't insist police take a closer look.
@@Violetbunnyfish Sometimes they have to be a bit more liberal with policies, like what about states that don't recognise gay marriage? or people who are financially dependent on you but aren't relatives? 100% check people who do stuff like this but I am sure making it illegal would do more harm than good.
@@Violetbunnyfish I disagree a bit. We have always had life insurance on our young children but only enough to pay for funeral costs. I think it was 10k or less so God forbid our child dies, we're not getting rich on any insurance.
I drive my mom to the hospital everyday so that she can be there for my dads cancer treatments everyday. It’s become something of a tradition for us to listen to Mr.Ballen on the way there. Even my dad has begun listening to him throughout this family crisis. We’re big on mysteries in my family. Thank you, John. We appreciate you! ❤️ Merry Christmas.
As a father of 5 kids "I love you mom" really hit me hard. These stories are so intriguing but so sad at the same time. God bless every soul that lost lost their lives. Heartbreaking
Yep, I'm completely unphased and desensitized to just about everything now. But as soon as I hear something about a child calling out or crying for their parents as they die... I have a 2.5 year old now and that shit sends me into a total crying meltdown. Jeez...
You don't have to be a parent to feel that one. Anyone with a mother will feel that one too. Anyone who ever loved anyone enough to have them be their last person they want desperately to leave such a message for, understands this feeling. RAmen.
The hot air balloon one hit close to home. I had a client and friend who died in a hot air balloon that hit power lines and fell 165 feet. He literally laid himself on the bottom of the basket as they were falling and told his wife and 2 daughters to lay on top of him so he could act as a body shield for them. It worked - he was the only one who died. The fault was purely that of the operator. He was apparently drunk. The man who died, Grant Adamson, while wealthy, was one of the most humble, kind, and ethical people I've known. His family did have permanent severe injuries.
Lets be a little edgy, immature pigs and monsters for a couple of seconds for the case of infographics...Is there any chance someone reading my comment believing in a hypothetical similar scenario a woman would do the same? Not just for her kids but for her husband too.I mean in almost all similar Mr Ballen stories its the man that sacrifices himself for the family and the woman will do it for her kids only if there is no man in the family.I have no scoptical intention of Sexism its just a genuine thought that came up to my mind. Please Correct me if i am wrong because i dont remember any case where the woman saves both her man and the kids sacrificing herself.
I can’t be the only person who has never once seen the “secret” in an episode on my own because I’m zoned in on John. I’m enthralled in the story and don’t see anything else 😂

The crash of PSA 182 was so tragic but I personally think that the air traffic controller was just as liable for the accident, if not more than the crew. He was the only one who could see that there were two Cesnas in the vicinity of the PSA airliner, not just one like the pilots thought.
More so, given that the jet couldn't see the plane underneath it's nose. I don't get the cesna guys either, just keeping flying and hoping it's OK- just "it has seen you" seems rather vague and I'd want more than that in terms of detailed instructions from flight control who can see more than both planes can.
To be fair, why on earth would you see two planes on a collision course, tell the big one to watch for the little one, and then not monitor the situation actively. I agree, this crash was easily preventable if ATC didn't switch their job onto the pilots
Thank you for your decency. Behind every story is a mother, father, son, daughter, friend involved in one way or another. Whether it be a victim or the living of the deceased, you tell your stories with compassion and empathy. You have my utmost respect.
I was a little kid, staying at my cousins’ house about a mile away from the impact area. It was horrible. There were plane seats in the street, and some with bodies still strapped to them. God bless those souls.
The first safety rule we were taught as apprentice electricians is “Don’t trust anyone.” Always check to see if power is off- people make mistakes. Sounds like all parties in the airline disaster had faith in other people. Such a sad story.
@@GlennaVan yup. Should have been charged with reckless endangerment and involuntary manslaughter. Failure to do the basics of the goddamn job. YOU HAD AN IMMINENT COLLISION WARNING DO SOMETHING
Problem is they must have been having such a great time in that plane they just didn't want to know. The flight control must have been having his own good time. What a tragedy.
@@GlennaVan If you read the transcript, ATC tells PSA exactly where the traffic should be. The PSA pilots see it, report to ATC that they see it. But then they lose it, and don't report to ATC that they've lost sight of it. Speculation that they saw another Cessna is just that - speculation - since the CVR doesn't give any hints which direction the pilot who said he saw it was looking. Assuming he looked in the direction ATC said (which was directly ahead and slightly below), they would've seen the correct Cessna. The Cessna they hit also did not maintain heading and altitude. Nor did they report to ATC of their change in heading and altitude (the radar return ATC gets doesn't give heading or exact altitude - ATC relies on the pilots to tell them this, although newer transponders do it automatically). That is, based on all the information ATC had, this wasn't a dire, imminent collision situation. Based on what ATC knew, the two planes would clear each other by a safe margin. ATC informed PSA of traffic merely as a precaution. And once PSA said they could see it, PSA became responsible for avoiding it if the situation changed. There's plenty of blame to go around, but I'd say ATC was least culpable. At some point, you have to trust that the pilots are doing what they say they're doing, and see what they say they see. If ATC has to second-guess everything pilots are telling them, the entire system breaks down before it can even get started. There was a similar accident 8 years later in Cerritos. Aeromexico 498 coming in for a landing struck a private plane which had strayed into restricted airspace. It and PSA 182 eventually led to the FAA implementing the "upside-down wedding cake" around all airports, where planes not landing or taking off are prohibited from flying. And ATC raises hell if any plane does stray in, thereby notifying any pilots landing or taking off of the danger.

My father, who lived in San Diego at the time of that airplane crash, was an aeronautical engineer. He saw those planes go down and was one of the first on the scene. He knew, he told us later, that there was no hope of any survivors. The stories he told us were gruesome.
Those airplanes have two engines to prevent a crash in the case one goes out. I find it strange that the plane crashed just because it lost one engine, it still had the other. The cesna did not rip off the wing of the plane either.
When the plane went down in north park my dad was two blocks away at a 7-11 . I was 12 in '78 and born and raised in San Diego and the images are burned into my memory of people still in their seats going through the walls of houses !! God bless and keep all who died in that tragedy !!!

I knew Sunday personally and she had planned this trip way in advance. There's no way for her to magically know that other balloon pilots refused to fly that day. How about you don't victim blame.
I briefly lived just down the street from where that plane crashed in north park! I walked by a memorial sign for the victims nearly everyday and never heard the whole story. This just gave me such chills...
Both of my best friends live about 3 blocks away, my grandmother was actually working on the 35th floor in a downtown building when it happened, she said it was so close she could see the terrified people in the planes windows. RIP
You can see in the last photo of the plane crash, the pilot never gave up trying to regain control. The flaps that control the planes horizontal controls and angled in a way indicating the pilot was trying to take it out of the roll to the right up until the very last moment. The angle of the flaps controlling vertical motion are also angled in a way showing the pilot trying to take it out of the nose dive. He never quit trying which deserves some credit
I can't help but remember a line from the musical "Come From Away" said by the portrayal of Captain Baz (mighta spelled her name wrong) about her friend Charles Burlinghame, who was the pilot of the plane that was flown into the Pentagon on 9/11: "A pilot will fight to the ends of the earth to save his airplane."
@Morten Madsen ATC can't pick up everything, the second cesna was far too low and wasn't near the flight path of the plane, if they called out every single flying vehicle in that far of a radius they'd have crashes all the time because ATC would be stressed in an already stressful and overwhelming job. The pilots were told to keep visual contact with the correct cesna before this cesna entered their blindspot, they had eyesight but then took their eyes off the cesna and lost it, had uncertainty about where the cesna was but never asked ATC to confirm. It was overwhelming the fault of the pilots, when your told keep visual contact that's what your meant to do and if you lose visual contact ATC is there to help you but there can't give second by second updates for every single plane which is why they were asked to keep visual of the cesna in the first place.
Can anyone even imagine how it would be to know you’re going down on a plane that you know you’re about to die? I can’t. It scares me to even think about it.
I was flying several years ago, and the landing gear on my plane malfunctioned. We circled around so many times, trying to burn fuel, so it was less likely to have a huge explosion when we landed. I also remember the fighter jets flying on both sides of the plane. We ended up landing safely, but it was absolutely terrifying. When we landed, there were tons of ambulances and the fire department that met us at the gate. I feel like we circled the airport for about 90 minutes. Everyone was so scared. We clapped when the plane landed, the pilots were amazing. I thought we were all going to die.
I'm sure I would have been in hysterics, but what's really heartbreaking is the person yelling "I love you Mom" in their last moments. I heard that and immediately started crying, with a heart wrenching grief over imagining my son in that position.
Years ago my whole family was on an international flight from Dubai international airport to Islamabad Pakistan. Half way over the Indian Ocean the airbus lost cabin pressure, it was dinner time. All of the sudden the plane dropped like a roller coaster and there were oxygen masks everywhere. The panic in the cabin was unimaginable. My mom cried, even though I was a teen back then I froze. The stewardesses were rushing everywhere collecting dinner trays and putting the mask on children. The plane turned around hoping to make it back to Dubai international. After what felt like forever we made it back to Dubai, only to be landed outside of the airport with firefighters and ambulances everywhere. We were very lucky. Back then I didn’t understand why we flew so low on the way back, but apparently the pilots were doing that to keep the cabin oxygenated on lower altitudes. It was dark and you could see the Indian Ocean below, we were flying right above and not over the clouds before the incident.
My worst fear about dying is being stuck in a place where I can't move (such as inside a chimney or trapped underneath a car) knowing I have to be there until I die. I assume one dies from lack of water eventually. I start trembling just thinking about dying that way.
I saw the first story on an episode of Forensic Files!! I can't imagine how horrifying those last few moments must have been for Deana as she clung to the cliff side. Just terrible.
After three weeks of binging MrBallen daily, everything scares me. I was in my garage and one of my daughters toys chuckled and said hello and I jumped and screamed like a small child.
Oh god I would have screamed and fucken ran if that happened to me BEFORE I found me ballens channel. I was up studying late one night and suddenly one of my sons toys started saying on repeat “WHEERES THE BAAAABY?” In a high pitched scratchy voice. I know it was just the batteries dying but I screamed and hucked that fucker out the second story dining room window into the pouring rain in the back yard 🤣🤣💞
My best friend from high school told me that when her parents were pregnant with her, they were out here in Colorado looking for houses cause they were planning to move. While they were here, they saw this plane accident in California and were like... “Is that our house?!” Their house was completely destroyed in the accident. She said her Dad was able to go in with police escort to retrieve some personal effects. He had to wear protective gear and a face mask with vicks vapor rub under his nose cause the smell was gnarly. All these stories are just so messed up. Great storytelling though man. Your channel is amazing.
@@kingt.hawkings32 Holy Crap! That’s so crazy!!! I’ve had some intuition moments that have potentially saved my life, but nothing THAT definitely a close call. Try not to hang on to survival guilt too hard, man. The universe rerouted you, is how I look at it. About 5 years ago I was driving home and hit a patch of black ice that spun my car out of control on the interstate. I spun really hard into a median. But luckily there weren’t other cars around the moment it happened so I didn’t hit anyone. My brain also went into hyper analyze panic mode as soon as I started losing control and I actually had the ability as I was heading toward the median to think “I’m about to hit this thing really hard. Most injuries in a collision happened on impact due to the person clenching their muscles. That’s why drunk drivers survive while awake people sustain injuries. You need to relax.” (I’m a massage therapist btw. So I’m always aware of this kind of stuff) So I took a deep breath and exhaled into relaxing as best I could while I spun into the concrete wall. It hurt a lot and I had crazy adrenaline, but I was mostly uninjured. I called 911 and tried to tell them where I was but I was kind of in shock and couldn’t figure out how to tell them. This guy pulled over behind me to check if I was okay and while he was there, ANOTHER car hit the same black ice I did and almost lost control. The guy suggested that I go with him and we get off the interstate till the cops showed up. I can’t tell you how close I was to telling him No that he shouldn’t worry about it and I’d be fine there. But I decided to go with him. In the five minutes he drove me down to the intersection and back to my car, 2 other cars hit that black ice. One hit the median about twenty feet away from my car. And the second Completely plowed into my car totaling it. After we got back, the guy left me with the paramedics and I never saw him again. I don’t even know his name but he probably saved my life. My point is, life is fucking crazy and weird and full of synchronicity.

That air traffic controller seems guilty of several counts of manslaughter. They didn't tell the jet there were two Cessnas to look for, they failed to correctly direct the Cessna that got hit, and they actually tried to allow the jet to try to fly by their own sight. Clearly, air traffic controllers should be former pilots or have the same training, because this one must not have known about the lack of sight in the jet.
Litigious Society wrote, "...this one must not have known about the lack of sight in the jet." Or the lack of sight in the Cessna. It's a high-wing aircraft, so you can't see what's above you very well. A high-wing aircraft like a Cessna flying below a low-wing aircraft (a Beechcraft, for example) is a dangerous situation.
So I remember watching an air disasters episode about this and it was determined more blame on the commercial pilots because they were not following safety protocols and were sitting too low in the cockpit to properly use one of the manual instruments. If they would have adjusted their seats to the proper height they never would have lost sight of the Cessna.
@@peterdougherty9281 they weren't using instruments they were flying visually. Cesnas are problems on their own and shouldn't be a thing. Given that there were 2 and ATC was only aware of 1 it screams one of them took off without go ahead from ATC
@@raydygonzalez5714 Except that NTSB isn't afraid to place the blame on the air traffic controller. There have been several occasions where the ATC was at fault and the NTBS placed the blame there. The real issue is that the ATC has the ability to tell planes to maintain visual distance. Which thereby paces the responsibility to the pilots.
On the day of the PSA crash, I was at school in the 4th grade at St. Didacus in Normal Heights, a suburb of San Diego located just a few miles from North Park. I remember hearing a very large boom that morning. It was lunchtime when I found out what had occurred because I went home for lunch and saw it on the news. I had a few brothers that attended St. Augustine High School then, located in North Park. The school gym was used by the city and first responders as a makeshift morgue during the clean up of this horrific accident. This year marks the 45th anniversary of the event. I still feel sorrow over this memory. My heart goes out to all who suffered unspeakably trauma due to this event.
PSA 182 is all I needed to hear...I know the rest of this story. I actually saw those planes hit. I was in Jr High on the PE field outside. We (other kids and myself) were joking that they were going to hit, you know the way kids do when planes cross your line of sight but knowing they are not close to each other. They hit for real instead. It was pretty traumatizing. As kids can do, I thought it was my fault joking about it. Needless to say I watched the news that evening. (this was before 24 hour news like we have now)
I was at PBJH. We could see the smoke. We heard it happen via an announcer on KSDO radio, and then went outside and saw the smoke. You probably went to school with people I know. :)
I lived in San Diego when that happened. I was 5 years old playing outside our apartment complex. I remember looking up in the air as the belly of the PSA jet barely cleared the top floor of our apartment building. I still remember the sound of the impact and explosion of the jet also. It's something that I'll never forget.
This third tragedy happened while I was standing outside in an at ease formation after turning in my gear in preparation for graduating marine corps basic training when I seen a huge cloud of smoke rising. A drill instructor made the announcement of the passenger jet crash and I nearly died. I thought my mother was on it bcuz my sister juli told me she would be flying down for my graduation. Thank God it wasn't her plane.
Yep. Had a plane go right over our house and crash a couple blocks away (small town blocks not city blocks). Sounded like a gang of like 300 harley bikers. It was 10 years ago. Only thing louder was the tornado that smashed us a couple years ago.
I was little when this happened. My family talked about this for years. How horrible it was. I remember something about passengers still strapped in their seats flying through windows of homes. So sad. I've flown a ton over the years and although statistically you're safer in a plane than in a vehicle, survival percentages are next to zero in an airplane crash. I don't fly anymore.
Someone takes out a large insurance policy on her and the VERY NEXT DAY she "accidentally" falls over a cliff while in the company of that person?? That should have been worthy of comment by the insurance company, at least.
Merry Christmas I really wanna go to Australia one day. I never paid attention to time difference between you and me , never thought you were a day ahead.
I hope Mr. Ballen never stops making videos, because after listening to his stories the only thing left I won’t be afraid to do is stay home and watch RUclips.
John, I was a helicopter aircrewman on duty at my squadron (HSL-33) at NAS North Island on the day that the PSA flight went down. I was called outside by another aircrewman who said that an airplane was in trouble coming into Lindbergh field. I looked up just as the plane rolled to starboard and saw the flames on the right side of the plane. It then pitched down and disappeared behind the buildings. There was an enormous fireball which turned coal black. I was stunned for a few seconds, but ran into our duty office to tell the O.O.D. what had just happened. Our C.O. came in just then and called San Diego P.D. to tell them that we could have several helicopters in the air immediately to help with evacuation. Tragically, we weren’t needed. Watching that plane crash is one sight that I will never be able to get out of my head.
I currently live two blocks away from the PSA crash. When I moved here in 1988 my neighbors’ timelines were always, that happened before the crash or that happened after the crash, and then they would talk about the crash. It was definitely a memory that was implanted in their minds forever. When i ride my bike by the area you can still see where curbs are messed up from the impact. I must admit I still freak out a bit when I hear a plane go over the property where i live because I know a plane should not be going over the property.
For what ever reason the last one pissed me off a bit. I feel like tower should have be at some higher fault since they could've worned both planes instead of just the cessna and should have not been so casual when they had worned the cessna. Yes PSA flight 182 should have double checked with tower instead of just assuming but from what was said it seems like that wouldn't have made too much of a difference since the cessna was heading into the PSA's blind spot anyways. On top of that, as far as we were told, tower only informed PSA of the one cessna not 2 so it would make sense that they believed the one that passed them was the one tower told them about. Also, the flight instructor should have probably (if he hadn't) instructed the student/piloted the cessna out of the flight path if it was possible. Now I'm not a pilot and I'm a champ at crashing in flight simulators, but I feel like there was so much more both the tower and the cessna pilots could have also done to avoid the crash. To put the blame pretty much on PSA flight 182 is just not right. Even with their reputation for being "overly friendly" the pilots likely took their roles just as seriously as any other company's pilots. Sorry for spelling or grammatical errors I'm severely dyslexic lol. Sns 😁 Edited to make a little more sense lol
Right on, dude. I was thinking the same thing when he said the flight crew was solely held responsible. Kinda sounds like maybe someone involved is related to some one in power so it's cleaner and easier to blame dead people.
Completely agree with you, the air traffic controller is responsible! You have 1 job, to direct air traffic. They seemed so lackadaisical about doing their job!
Suki, I totally agree with you. Basically saying look out for the Cessna, is like saying look out for the white car, or look out for the Ford, while driving. There could be several of them in the area. Dammit, get specific. Those things have numbers on them for a reason. By the way, Suki your spelling and grammar, looked perfect to me. Have a wonderful holiday.
My brother, a new deputy sheriff, had to help retrieve body parts from the that plane crash. I remember it, as I lived near North Park, San Diego, CA at the time and my brother had PTSD from his experience with the crash.

One of my dad’s best friends, Charles Bren, died in this crash. My uncle was supposed to fly back with Chuck, but didn’t get on the plane because “he had a felling.” I was sixteen in a time when there was no internet. We didn’t have a clue what happened. I’m the one who answered the phone and had to go tell my folks. This plane tragedy ended up affecting a lot of members of my family and their friends for many, many years. I haven’t stopped thinking about this since I watched this last week. Not saying that’s a bad thing. Chuck was a really great guy, born to a Hollywood legend. His mom was Claire Trevor from Key Largo fame.
One of my best friends from basic training in the army was Paige Bradson’s husband. It killed me when I heard about the accident because he talked about her non stop and she really was his motivation for getting through it all. I met her after graduation and she truly was a beautiful soul. They had just had a baby less than a year before the accident, Which thankfully gave my friend a reason to keep pushing forward without her.
Yea it got worse and worse as he told the story and when he said they started smashing her hands as she begged for them to pull her up that broke my heart
The person on the black box on psa flight 182 was my great uncle martin wahne saying I love you mom!! He was a flight engineer!! He also died on that plane that day!! Very sad story!! Rip to everyone an that flight an the 7 people who died on the ground that day!!
I lived in Coronado and was in Middle School when the PSA jet went down just across the Bay from us. My friend's Dad was a pilot for PSA and that was his normal route he flew. He had the day off that day. His kids were called to the office and allowed to leave school that day. For a long time you could smell the horrid smell from the crash when you went on the 5 North to 163 North. Another friend's Grandmother lived in North Park and had a body land on her roof. One of the pilots went through another person's wall and ending up inside there home still in his seat. I remember watching the news with reporters standing in front of the wreckage and people were robbing the bodies in the background. It was horrific.
Did you know that the like button had 3 kids called, Strange, Dark and Mysterious. They weren't delivered normally though, they were delivered in story format.
I always figured that smaller aircraft should yield right of way to larger aircraft, but apparently not. The small aircraft should have been ordered to alter flight path since it should be easier for a sharp maneuver for the smaller aircraft.
@AMER1CAN BEAST Yeah. Also, the small plane can see and avoid the big plane so much easier than the big one trying to find and avoid a tiny one somewhere.
Mike, the “visual separation” was basically the control tower shifting the responsibility of staying off each other’s flight paths to the planes. Once the pilot said he could maintain that separation, no blame could be put on the tower. However, yes, the ATC should have been checking the RADAR to make sure everything was going well. They were negligent but ultimately couldn’t be blamed due to that shifting of responsibility earlier. I believe that that has been changed so now ATC must confirm with the RADAR that the planes won’t intersect.

The second story really spoke to me. The fact that the Ballon Conductor descended blindly into a a power line that damn near separated the basket from the balloon while cutting the fuel lines causing them to hit the burners which ignited the liquid fuel that splashed back down on top of all the people. The sheer idea that people were being set on fire by lit liquid fuel that was being pored back down onto the torn basket while it free falling 100 feet back down to the ground. Being burned alive while falling to your death sounds like one of the most terrifying ways to die.
the whole thing was an entirely avoidable tragedy on more than one person's part, that's for sure. _everybody_ should have been talking to each on that one. the controllers, the pilots, *_All_* of them should have been making sure to double and Triple check about what was going on where.
I remember this accident well, besides bodies in trees there were bodies found on the roofs of homes. It was a very bad accident and I think ATC could have done more to prevent this.

The "I love you, mom" on the black box was really heartbreaking. What a tragic accident.
one has to wonder.
did they say it as a sort of prayer, like a last words into the ether sort of thing... or did they say it fully Knowing that it was being recorded on the black box so she would have their Actual Words to hear after the crash?
but does it really matter, i guess... whatever the intent, what's done is done and i doubt in the end if it was much consolation to the poor mother. her child was gone. knowing for sure that they loved her would be like a drop of water in a wild fire.

I think they pose as the persons relative and then take the life insurance thing

That's love, wow. That's so heartbreaking.

The crash of PSA 182 was so tragic but I personally think that the air traffic controller was just as liable for the accident, if not more than the crew. He was the only one who could see that there were two Cesnas in the vicinity of the PSA airliner, not just one like the pilots thought.
IKR... his job is literally in the description... air traffic control
They probably just pinned the blame on the pilots solely because they were already dead. Easy scapegoat.
@@DirtyPrancing definitely - they had access to the whole situation from their instruments.

It should never have happened! Air Traffic Control knew there were THREE planes including two Cessnas.
Yep, when lives are potentially on the line, I double check or triple check things when I’m not sure.
As a mother, “I love you, mom” got me. So devastating

I’m a pilot, this story sends chills up my spine. So sad......
I'm not a pilot but this makes me want to triple check everything with ATC
I was almost in a plane crash as a child. It hit close to home for me as well.
@Morten Madsen my dad was flying to Oregon one time when he was twtcbty and a plane just flew under the plane he was. In
@Morten Madsen ATC can't pick up everything, the second cesna was far too low and wasn't near the flight path of the plane, if they called out every single flying vehicle in that far of a radius they'd have crashes all the time because ATC would be stressed in an already stressful and overwhelming job.
What are the pilots supposed to do when one plane is ascending in the path of another plane? Like what?!

@@deannakilgour7935 That literally hurt my heart.

Is air traffic control government run because that may see why they would put the blame on a company because they wouldnt want to be responsible.
Litigious Society wrote, "...this one must not have known about the lack of sight in the jet."
Or the lack of sight in the Cessna.

This third tragedy happened while I was standing outside in an at ease formation after turning in my gear in preparation for graduating marine corps basic training when I seen a huge cloud of smoke rising.

Sns 😁

I thought the flight control tower's job was to control the plans take-off and landing so no plane would fly in each other's path
No kidding right? It's like I got another half hr...( to make sure ...damn.)
This is why I will never get on a plane.

The sheer idea that people were being set on fire by lit liquid fuel that was being pored back down onto the torn basket while it free falling 100 feet back down to the ground.
