Awesome video. Rode the dragon back in August. It was a great time, definitely not as hard as I thought it was going to be. We stayed in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, definitely gonna go again.
I'd really like to do the 120th HD anniversary celebration in Milwaukee in mid July if I remember right, I think the dragon in April would be groovy, never ridin it on a Harley, just sport bikes...heehee I have a full time job and a half, but I'll quit the half job come riding season, I refuse to miss the 120th Harley B-day. As always Great Vid My Friend.
awesome video as always Mike, it's always great to hang around and ride with friends no matter where you go. I just received your stickers, thank you. Will see you in March 👍
I did the Dragon by myself and for the first time there it was perfect. Traffic was light and it was nice to not worry about someone in-front or behind me.
One of the crash videos I watched was a dude laying in a ravine for hours and nobody knew he was there. That's what I'd like to avoid. I could do it alone, but I think I'd like it better with a few people. Nothing huge. just a few
@@UncleBogator I get that 💯. I think with a group I would have focused more behind me and not in front of me like I needed too. Let me know when you go in the spring. I’m only a couple hours away.
Great Vid! I can't really tell from the video, but are you looking mostly through or over the windshield on your Roadie? If through, does it bother you? Trying to decide whether or not I'd go with a shorter windshield, should my next bike be a road king.
you should of shown that chopper that girl built. it sounds cool. the Kawa does look nice. that belt breaking is the reason i keep thinking a chain is better. if that breaks you can maybe temp fix it with a master link. i have never seen one break though, come off the sprocket ya but not break. you are going to compromise something no matter what though. i figure someone would have the apes you want to try in your group or a friend of someone in the group. maybe get something bar shaped and hold them at certain lengths to get an idea. just have the Mrs hold a tape measure where the bars mount in front of you so you can see how high they are. might work. good vid
Those were the first bars i looked up. I REALLY like them. But I'm heavily leaning toward traditional rounded apes. I have a bit to make a decision. gotta wait through the holidays.
I loved brewing. Sold all my home equipment to help move to Florida in 2014. Competed and won a few medals in my day. I love craft been but I also down gallons of high life and lite lol
Yeah I like group rides. Been on a few and I pretty much always had a good time. The H.O.G. rides on Okinawa were pretty epic. 😂 . 30 to 40 guys all just waiting to drop their brand new CVO’s on the ground!! Ya gotta change the bars on the RK. There’s no way I could ride that. One of the first things after the 1,000k on my Softail I changed was them buckhorn type bars to 10 or 12” apes. Did the same on my Ultra. Went with Paul Yaffee Monkey Bagger bars. Nothing crazy just (yeah fight just) 12”s. Love’m.
My concern on the dragon is other yahoos coming around the corner in the wrong lane and outta control because those idiots ride too fast. Find a track, damn. Not worth hurting yourself or more importantly, others.
Hey Mike, I have some chrome 16” HD Chizeled apes that I’ve run on my Road Glide for the last 5 or 6 yrs. I’m going to install something different in a week or 2. Let me know if you’re interested. You can have them for a beer or two. Not trying to make a killing.
Not a fan of large group rides!...if it's people you ride with regularly it's not so bad I guess!...at least you may all know how you ride!...great video...stay safe...ride safe!!😎🤙👍🤙👍🇨🇦
Wheels are crazy high. Like Willie Nelson and Snoop Dog high. Get some 14's and do the pre wire. If you have never done bars yourself it is too easy to damage the thin brittle wires that lead from the clamshells.
Mike I'm not a fan of laces either. I do like the new Harley rims. Looking forward to your upcoming mods on the Harley. Beautiful bike. You said something about wide turns. Does the King handle or turn weird? Thanks
It's a trust issue with the Metzlers that are on the bike. I lose traction and lock up brakes way too easily on that bike so I get nervous cornering. Not all the time, but enough to where it's noticeable. It's also how light the front is after riding that Goldwing for a year. I'll get used to that
If you ever try HWY 60 to Vero Beach, I can meet you at Rifle Range Rd and HWY 60 next to Camping World. (Big US Flag like at Bert's Barracuda), and maybe ride with your group. David and Cindy know me as Daniel size 12
Thanks for the video! The dragon is what you make it going mid week is a good time just don’t over drive it and you won’t have any problems like riding anytime you just have to be looking out for the dumb ass people. You might want to do the Cherohala skyway to Tellico plains and you could plan to rent a cabin at Smitty’s lodge motorcycle campgrounds and cabins great people great riding some of the best roads to explore and ride that I have found!
I think when I do it I’m going to approach it from the same direction. I’ll definitely look into the cabins but dad lives an hour away. Good time to catch up and ride too.
I think if you go with a 14 inch or 16 inch apehangers will be about perfect I personally did 16s and they feel great and my hands are at my shoulders and I also have a road king
@@UncleBogator I would hang around Bert's HD and see if they have a used bike with 16s or 14s and see what you like mine are 16s on my road king and at should height and I'm 5'9" I was debating between the two and went with 16s cause if they would up being too tall I wouldn't have to stretch my wires out twice but they have been great
@@UncleBogator Btw, I wouldn't be overly concerned about the belt, belts don't break for no reason (improper tension, misalignment, bike being overloaded, repeated hard launches, etc.), they might be low maintenance, but they do require inspection & maintenance from time to time. I've seen more chain breakages in my time than belts, if properly taken care of, they can last 100k miles(I'm at 70k on mine).

Commented B4 about Lucky U where I got my 2015 RK - Just spent 3mths researching bars to replace the 16" ones that came with it to 18". My mech said get pre-wired if I can & Dominator was the main one that popped up in all my searches + HCC. 18" pre-wired Meathooks from Dominator were under $500 / same from HCC was $1200 - - no brainer right? Well, the only way you can order from Dominator is online & the only customer service is email. In checking reviews on them, I'll just say check out their BBB & Google reviews. I did speak a few times with HCC about what I was looking for, but $1200 (not including labor) it was above my budget. Decided on KST Spearhead, the 18" is a special order (3-4 weeks) & $485 OTD (not pre-wired) but my mech said since they are a 3 piece design, easy to pull thru.
