That's amazing! I would never in a million years would of guessed that electricity would be used, in making grass and flowers, and bushes and shrubs. I loved watching it. I actually giggled a bit! Very cool video! Thank you for the share!
So that's where that branch of flowers went...caught "red" handed!...LOL! Baking paper is so fantastic, even in baking don't need to paint butter on the tray when baking because the baking paper is non-stick and stuff comes of so easily! ... which reminds me, need to bake honey and banana cake for desert tonight :-)
Peter CPRail8748 No worries, I'm glad I was able to help. Will hopefully save you a few bucks too, especially if your gonna make lots of them. Cheers Luke.
Howard Sugars Thanks mate, that is a great idea, I'll have to give that one a try. The commercial foams are quite limited for color range! Cheers Luke.
Yes please do give it a try. I place my crayons in the freezer for a while first then use a fine grater, that way you get very fine shavings that look like very realistic flowers. There is a tremendous range of colours with wax crayons so you could create quite a colourful flower bed or something! I love watching your videos so please keep them coming! Howard
retrainrun Thanks RT, as long as you have a good static grass applicator it really is super easy to do! You won't be disappointed with the results! Cheers Luke.
***** Thanks mate, hope they work out for you. They are quite fun to experiment with, I've come up with some very strange yet interesting bushes! Cheers Luke.
Hi there. I'm having an impossible time tracking down the colored foam you are using for the flowers. I've scoured numerous big hobby sites and I am not coming up with anything. Can you give me a direct link, by any chance?
Luke Towan Howard Sugars This works really awesome. I used Howard's idea of the grated crayon. Thanks Howard!! Luke I now see the plus side of the baking paper, I used to have grass with a white base. With the baking paper it is now transparent. Thanks, great video!!!
Thanks mate, good luck with the build. The only advice I can give is try using the same negative ion generator that I use in the video, I've had a few try using the cheap ones from China and they seem to have trouble getting them to work well. Plus they have extra wires? Oatley Electronics sell the one I used and it's not overly expensive. Cheers Luke
Abhishek Soni I’m sure one way of doing that is firstly get some crayons and put them in the freezer and grate them into a fine powder and sprinkle them on the flowers and if u used green crayons then it will look like leaves
Abhishek Soni another way would be by getting a paintbrush and grab some green paint and put small amounts on the flower. However if your talking about putting leafs on the stems then idk of a fast and easy way to do it in large quantities
hi there, thanks for explaining it, making my own tuft atm. but what glue did you use? used standard PVA/wood glue on a baking paper, and now the tufts stuck and can't remove it. how do you remove it and apply it to the diorama? thanks
Thanks for another good, how to video. As to wanting different colored foam, anyone tried using water based dye? Like the 4 colored set sold during Easter to dye eggs with? You'll have to add water to thin the dye, put your foam in/mix it, then let the foam either dry naturally or use a hair dryer. Haven't tried this trick, but haven't made my static grass applicator either.
Yeah. You can buy woodland scenic fine turf it do the job, you can even your the green one on tree on the second layer, sadly it's not really cheap. You can also make your own, i think i gonna give a shot before buying expensive stuff.
Woodland scenics has a great variety of static grass and they are coming out with a few more varieties soon. Sorry so late to reply to this but firat time i watched thos video
I get most of my supplies from eBay these days. I use two brands mostly, Noch and MiniNature static grasses and I prefer the 6mm grass the most. Cheers Luke
Hey Luke ! Do you have any ideas for building small electric box like this one ?(right part of the photo) www.lanouvellerepublique.fr/var/nrv2_archive/storage/images/contenus/articles/2014/02/14/deux-passages-a-niveau-securises-1796033/33454792-1-fre-FR/Deux-passages-a-niveau-securises_reference.jpg
- FallNFly - hey mate, I guess if I was going to make a signal box like that I'd probably start with a small block of wood as a base then use styrene to cover the block, of course you don't need the wooden block but I'm thinking it would make it easier to get it nice and square. You could also try molding one using modelling clay? That way you could scribe in all the small details with a knife.
That's amazing! I would never in a million years would of guessed that electricity would be used, in making grass and flowers, and bushes and shrubs. I loved watching it. I actually giggled a bit! Very cool video! Thank you for the share!
Seems so simple once it's explained that well....excellent tutorial - thankyou

Howard.

Yeah definitely worth a try!

That's pretty awesome!
Flowmaster40Series Thanks mate.
Hi, where do I find the coloured foam ? Thank you
Woodland scenics website.
You can also make it at home using dye and foam shredded
Sand works great too. Advantage and disadvantage is you need to paint them. Latter being the extra work, former you can choose and mix your colours.
Excellent video, looking forward to your next one.
David Lindfield Thanks David, I just finished doing the intro for the next video. I too am pretty excited about posting it up on RUclips.
Cheers
Luke.

sounds like something worth trying, I'll see if I can find some suitable dyes to use and let you know how it goes 😃
@@BoulderCreekRailroad how did it go?
Cool and easy👍😄😄😄
What glue did you use for the tuft bases?
Wood glue do the job.
Hope this isn't a stupid question, but how do you transfer the tufts from the paper to the diorama or layout?
+mycrazygrandpa no worries mate, the tufts are glued onto baking paper and they peel away quite easily.
Cheers
Luke.
I know its an old video but does anyone have a link to buy that foam he uses for the flowers? I cant seem to find it anywhere.
Great video!
Thanks :)
Você é incrível !!!
thats clean man.
Another blinder Luke!

It was the light green but I mixed it with some Late Autumn from mininature.
Cheers
Luke
+LukeTowan where do you buy the mininatur static grass? I'm in Australia too
Woodland scenics has a great variety of static grass and they are coming out with a few more varieties soon. Sorry so late to reply to this but firat time i watched thos video
Excelentes videos.
Great stuff Luke as always. Which supplier did you get the static grass from, I do not seem to be able to find any.
I get most of my supplies from eBay these days. I use two brands mostly, Noch and MiniNature static grasses and I prefer the 6mm grass the most.
Cheers
Luke
Could you not use sand instead of foam?
yeah sand works very well, it actually looks a little more realistic with sand.
Cheers
Luke
wah man that is really awesome.
dnt u hav any other substitute for grass applicator
Unfortunately I don't have a substitute...
I love you, you are the best
Where do you get your foam powder from? My search-fu is weak :(
