I think Earn couldn't confront Lada about what her mother said because Earn's mother's life is on the line here. She was forced to choose between her mother and her girlfriend. And as much as it sucks, it's understandable that she'd choose her mother. The false information given by Lada's mother messed with her head, manipulated her, especially when her own mother is hospitalized and she's already in a very vulnerable state of mind. But I think that Earn believing that Lada actually loves Dr Wisnu, acted as a shield for Earn in a way. That's how she justified doing this to Lada. I don't think she could do this if she knew the truth, and she probably subconsciously knew that too.
Edit: I agree that she didn't need to go all "I'm straight actually", and could've probably broken it off in a nicer way. But then again, the series doesn't make it super clear but they were in a relationship for a few years before breaking it off. So, it might've been not possible for Earn to break it off in a way that doesn't make Lada hate her without telling Lada the truth about her mother bcs Lada could probably tell when Earn is lying or hiding something
