Behind the Scenes at Richmond CenterStage

Richmond CenterStage, a downtown performing arts complex in Richmond, VA, has been eight years in the works. The project pulls together two landmarks, the Carpenter Center and the former Thalhimers department store, and includes a renovated Carpenter Theatre, the Gottwald Playhouse and the multipurpose Rhythm Hall and gallery space. Four months before the Sept. 12 grand opening, with construction entering the final stages, Style Weekly gets a behind-the-scenes tour from the project's lead architect, Bruce Herrmann of Wilson Butler Architects.
