Unless the referee interpreted the grab as serious foul play, which, given how he grabed and yanked the player down by the shoulder with no real attempt to play the ball, can't say is outright wrong.
@@nathanosborne4916but the player who grabbed him also put himself in this situation for grabbing at him. No ones fault but the player committing to the challenge.
@@Raider025I know damn well anyone one would foul there if they are the last defender(which he was) arguably if he did not foul he would have scored weak call
Easy to see that red card and think "Game's gone soft" but that's a great catch by the referee. If you really look at what happened, the defender is completely beat and decides to pull the attacker down by making intentional contact at the neck area and grabbing his collar from the opposite side, slinging him down. It was a clothesline and a pull down by the neck all in one. Intentional contact above the shoulders with no attempt to play the ball or opportunity to play the ball which endangers the safety of the opponent? That's red, and not for Serious Foul Play either, it should be written up as Violent Conduct. Well done to this referee.
He grabbed the shirt. The ref isn't a premier league ref or anything so I'm not going to hold it against him but with the benefit of HD footage and seeing it multiple times I think it's clear to see it's a clear tactical foul and a yellow. Had this match had VAR it would have been overturned
That had more to do with height disparity than anything else. Extremely harsh for straight red. Yellow card is the correct call here. - USSF certified ref
It’s not that I think the game is soft, I just think that ref was wrong. The contact on the neck area didn’t start until after the guy was already falling down, and it looked incidental more than anything. Definitely a yellow, but never a red.
The parent who said he should be carded again who cares if he is colored should have been ejected and if they wouldn’t step forwarded to who it was, send every fan out.
That parent who was screaming, I would’ve had him sent out before the first half ended. Very low tolerance for that as an official myself. It’s why we’re lacking refs.
My best guess was that it was a grab around the shoulder area and a pull down, which can be interpretted as violent conduct (or serious foul play, since NFHS rules are different from IFAB/FIFA Laws of the Game). While I'm on the fence about the color of the card (I agree with you this needs at least a yellow), I can't say a red is wrong.
@@Raider025 Well said. Definitely a card. It's kind of similar to a crappy targeting call in college football that we've seen many times in the past 4 seasons. Anything above the neck is seen as extreme and violent.
@@Raider025 He was too drastic in showing the expulsion. First, it is not a reckless action, serious foul play, second, he is not the last defender to cut an obvious play on goal. A tactical foul that warranted a yellow card warning.
@@napoleondiaz2313reckless implies a yellow card challenge. I believe NFHS rules use the term "disproportionate force" for a foul to be deemed a red card. And given how he grabbed and pulled the player, I would deem that disproportionate.
@@Raider025- that had more to do with the small size of the purple team player over anything. Way too harsh a penalty to go straight red. It was also the white team’s first offense all game after being fouled constantly (with barely any acknowledgment from the ref) leading up to it. Way out of place for the flow of the game to that point. Ref definitely seemed out of his depths. Did he award the second yellow there on the purple defender at the end of the game before the lightning called it?
Graduated last year from Royalton, man I loved this team they got LOTS of potential, davay blyat BEARS 💪
4:30 how did nothing happen here? #10 pushing the other player while he was on the ground. Could’ve potentially hit his head too.. ??
3:52 little bit soft for a red yeah?

4:15, how was this person still allowed to stick around for this game??
people like him are why we are losing refs

Good red at 3:45
