My step father had the sixth XA coupe on south Australian roads back in the early 70’s. Bought from Jarvis Ford dealership. I was ten years old back then. I remember sitting in the back seat as we drove around and watching people looking at us. Now I realise why. He kept that car for many years and cherished it until the day he sold it. I was 15 when I took it out for a drive when he and mum where out that night at a show. It was my first drive and I got away with it. They never knew I did that until I told them 30 years later. Great car, great memory.
I remember in the 90’s when I started driving there were still heaps of the coups around and the 4 doors were basically throw away How times have changed
Gavin McInnes Spotted one couple days ago in a back corner of a garage. With that very distinctive dark green paint on the bonnet. When I commented on it. He said it’s his grandson’s project. Looked in great shape so might be done.
you probably dont give a shit but if you're bored like me during the covid times you can stream pretty much all the new series on instaflixxer. Have been binge watching with my gf for the last couple of weeks :)
I mean that interceptor is bad ass. But of the two the Fairmont falcon.. Shed be in my driveway... BTW why hasn't any body built the nightriders HQ monero?
so glad to hear the barn find if going to a museum to be preserved as is. love barn finds and thats a mint ozzy bard find. love the outside wind screen visor
So glad you appreciate it. We sure fell in love with this car while it was here, and were a bit sad to see it go. Still it went to a very good place, where it will be cherished and enjoyed. The visor is crazy cool right? Thanks for watching and for your comment!
À little hard to drive. Mine had no AC or power steering. It was a 1976 XB in copper. No rust but a couple off dings. The C4 trans and power dragged off a lot of '90's cars. Mine was a Fairmont.
Wow, AWESOME, that is so very appreciated! We are so glad you enjoy what we do. If you have not already, please feel free to check out the other videos on our channel, I am sure you will like them if you enjoyed this! Thanks for watching and for your comment!

I will forever be at a loss to understand why Australian Ford Falcons were never sold in North America. We got them in New Zealand by the boat load and love the things.
Wow, just viewed your blue XB Van... My friend had a metallic dark green XB van, with a worked 302W, man that van was unreal to drive, the 302w had such a FAST rev and note with duel pipes, it was all we could really ask for back then. AND back then, i had the 250 Crossflow XC, that just didn't keep up....haha, i will link a picture of my van for you blokes, a pic when it had an XA GT 351 Clevo in it. Stay tuned.
Remember taking a brand new XA GT 351 for a test drive as a youngster, absolutely loved it then and still love em, best looking Fords to come out of the factory here in Australia, can still remember when they were used by the New South Wales Highway Patrol.
That would have been really cool. Still we can get them for you here in the USA easily enough. Contact us at www.madmaxcars.com Thanks for watching and for your comment!
Thank you so much for watching! It is so good to hear from folks who also appreciate these great cars. If we can ever help you get one, you know where to find us.
So glad you liked the vid! About the music, I hear that! Check out the other videos on our channel for some of that V8 Rumble, with no music overdub. Thanks for watching and for your comment!
The falcon two door are getting very rare here in Australia. It’s a bit of a shame both these are over there in the USA. But at least they’re going to have a good spot in history. Nice video guys.
They are getting incredibly rare and hard to get without tons of $. I know how hard it is to see your rare classics go overseas, we see ours go all over the world at thousands a year, or more. So we totally empathize. There is less than 200 total XA,B,C Falcons here in the states (including Sedans, Utes, Panelvans, Wagons and Hardtops), so at least its not too many. We do love to preserve them, and they are in good homes. Thank you so much for watching and for the cool comment!
MadMaxCars All the favourites from back in the day are becoming rarer than Ferrari. My second car was a valiant pacer. Haven’t seen one in years. That car made me appreciate “ different. Isn’t a bad thing”.
I'm loving the fact that the US guys take an interest in our Aussie muscle cars. I'm a die hard Holden fan boy owning a Sandman, Statesman, a few Premiers and utes over the years but always had a soft spot for the XBs deep down. Just out of curiosity, you should check out the Lloyds Auctions youtube channel and see what some of these classic Fords/Holdens go for, a number one build A9X Torana just sold for $365,000 AU, GTHO Phase 3 went for $500,000 AU
AWESOME! Yeah we love Holdens also. The HJ Sandman in Mad Max 1 is cool, and the Monaros. We brought in a beautiful HXLE Monaro years ago. We do watch lloyds auction for fuss from time to time. Yeah some of the rare beasts go for INSANE money these days. Thanks for watching and for your comment!
Why wouldn't we? Your old muscle cars were on par with anything coming out of early 1970's Detroit in my opinion. I would carve out my kidney with a Vegemite knife for a souped up red 1973 Falcon XB GT hardtop. It's one of my dream cars. Maybe one day.... until then my pops and I are will settle with old Mopars
Nice video. Have you guys seen "Running on Empty" or I think it may be called Fast Lane Fever there in the US. Another great Australian car movie with some very nice cars and a feeling of another era.
They sure are. Its really nice to see such a good condition unrestored car like this one. Almost unreal in how rare that is these days. Thanks for watching!
I remember when you guys picked up that Fairmont Barn find from Australia. I wanted to get that one so bad. I like the original looks. If I had bought it, I would have kept it original just like the new owner. Love the Walnut paint. Unfortunately, I didn't see 35k hanging off a tree anywhere. Maybe the guy who bought it from you will sell it to me one day. :D
Yeah that is a beautiful car, and went quick. Great example of a fairly original, rust free GS Fairmont. Don't find them like that much. I know everything has a price. Unfortunately now that that car has been fully mechanical restored, it won't go for its original price anymore, but it would sure be a nice one to have.
Just a quick note the black car Is a Pursuit Special . Max’s yellow car was an interceptor as was March Hares XA at the start of the film. Big Bopper was a Pursuit car also but no a special. The car was only ever referred as a interceptor once and the was in MM 2 but the mechanic but as a generalisation.
That is indeed correct, based on the original scripted description of the car and the dialog of the MFP radio dispatcher talking about the car in the first film. We tend to use the titles interchangeably here, favoring the reference that the average person recognizes for the car "Interceptor". You might notice we used both terms with a slash in the description above for clarity. Though we do prefer the "Pursuit Special" title ourselves, it is probably worth noting that George Miller himself pretty much exclusively uses "Interceptor" as a reference to the Black on Black these days. Likely as we do, using the term that has become somewhat ubiquitous in pop culture for the general public. Thank you so much for watching and for your excellent comment!
FORD BABY ! FUKC THEWORLD ! One of the craziest and coolest cars ever built. As soon as I am rich I am going to by this dudes whole museum because those cars belong to me ! I true blue Ford guy.
I grew up around Melbourne. Xa's Xb's Xc's were EVERYWHERE. Not uncommon to see either model as a Taxi, with over 1 million Kilometers on the clock, in the 250c crossflow original 6 cyl. I owned a 1979 XC PanelVan Update for 10 years.
That must have been VERY COOL time to be growing up around Melbourne. We actually have a nice 77 XC Panelvan with a Crossflow 6 and 3 speed trans for sale in our classifieds now at www.madmaxcars.com Thank you for watching and for your comment!
@@MadMaxCars Wow, I LOVE the fact the Americans can buy these vehicles! That XC Panel Van must confuse folks driving down the road with a Ford badge...lolol "WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT BOB?" haha. Yes, mine was a 4.1 Auto, Column Auto, Borg Warner Auto. In those days, it was ford V's Holden BIGTIME, they were just the cars around, definately blending into the crowds. EXCEPT the special versions, like GS, GXL, GT etc. The Panel Van came out as a SUNDOWNER pack as well. Your show is killer. I have always wanted these cars to go over there, the HOME of everything car cool. My cousin had a lime green and black XA GT, monster ports. The cockpits of the XA-XB wrap around style, i feel, are the best looking ever made. [In Black, not brown,,].
@@MadMaxCars Also, we only really had 302 W and our own 302 Cleveland in most of those, if an 8cyl at all. Did an XA-B come out in 351 format as a NON Sports model? most likely, but i cannot picture it right now.
@@caratcranker5874 Yes these cars do give the locals a pause. The coupe has so many styling cues that it confuses people who don't know, but the panel vans do make people wonder. Utes of course everyone thinks it is some custom El Camino or Ranchero (our only domestic Utes). I have seen photos of the Sundowner, nice! I know you guys had a "Van" craze with these like we did with our big boxy vans around the same time. What a cool custom culture that was. Really glad you like this show, and hopefully the other cool stuff on our channel. We of course have wanted these cars since mad Max first hit the screens here, and had to rate a couple decades until they were over 25 years old. Since then have come to love so many other cars you guys build. Sounds like your Cousin's GT was a beautiful car. I really do love the interior of the XA & XB, it has a similar aircraft wrap around feel to the early 70's AMX and Camaro, but better. ALWAYS prefer a black interior. You guys actually have more configurations of the 351C than we do, with the 302, Phase 4, as wells the small port (2v here) and large port (4v here) versions. The did put it into some trucks and other non sports models, and had a 351W here, but no 302C. I know they did make XA and B Wagons, Sedans etc with the GT type package, though maybe not badged that way. Hope that answers the question to some degree.
It is the Mustang/Torino/Comet/Montego chassis. The body is quite different from the Torino when you see them next to each other. People do use the Sportsroof Torinos of that vintage for Tribute cars sometimes due to the similar look.
They do have styling queues from all over the USA Muscle Car spectrum. Its what makes them so familiar yet unique. Really adds to the futuristic mystique for us in the USA.
Another thing I noticed is that whenever I search for the Ford Fairmont GS online, it always comes up as a four door sedan. That must mean the production numbers for the two door are very low.
They made the 4 doors and Coupes in GS and GT trim. Not sure why the Sedans come up in a google search so much more for GS, but Sedan production numbers were considerably higher for all trim levels, so maybe because so many more are still on the streets being proudly shared on the net?
Contact the team at www.madmaxcars.com we can build you one from the ground up, or you can save time and cost by grabbing the a finished turn key car that is in our classified ads right now for sale. Its in the USA already and priced well below its market value at the moment. If you want that one I would move quickly as it will undoubtedly get snapped up in no time.
Sure. It is just starting up. It will have multiple GTs, Multiple XC Cobras, Mad Max interceptors, the XBGS Barn Find shown here, and quite a number of other Flacon coupes along with several other really cool super cars and other stuff. It may also have an array of screen used costumes, props, armor and weapons from hollywood productions. When it opens up officially I believe it will be in the Houston/Woodlands/Sugar Land metropolitan area, though that is still undecided as far as i know.
No Australian Falcon was ever sold with a big block. However, any ford big block will fit in the XA/B/C falcon (except the BOSS 429 unless the coil towers are modified) as their engine bay and front suspension is identical to an early 70's Mustang. Two problems with big blocks in these cars though, one is the RHD steering box sits right in front of the rear most exhaust port, the other is the vertical height from the cross member to the underside of the bonnet (hood) is about 2 inches less in the Falcon than any other American Ford so a very restrictive "low rise" manifold has to be used. The most powerful engines you could get originally (available from 1970 to 1975) was the 351 4V Cleveland with 11:1 compression and around 330 HP. From 1976 on the XC/D/E 351's had 9:1 compression and smog gear, however, if you can find an ex-highway patrol one of these, they were factory fitted with a 1970 "GT" cam shaft!. Here's a crazy piece of trivia for you; these Australian built 351 Clevo's were imported BACK to the States and fitted (by Ford) into the CiHP Crown Vic's up until 1984! (the cars could not be registered in California after their police days as they had no hope of passing smog tests)
My dad had a dark green 1977 model 302 / 4.9 litre XC GS automatic wagon in 1980 . Had the square headlights . It was awesome . Family holiday mum dad 3 kids towed 16 foot caravan 2000klm Syd to Goldy and back . Fucking great car . WISH I HAD IT NOW .
Amazing nice work. Is it possible to buy a similar Ford Falcon Interceptor Mad Max black police car, and what is the price is is it possible to have it shipped to Denmark in Europe? What would a total cost be for the whole thing?
Absolutely possible! That's what we do. We also build all sorts of other Movie & TV Star Cars and restore regular Muscle cars, build Hot Rods etc. As far as cost and international shipping you will want to contact the team at www.madmaxcars.com
When people tell us "hey the steering wheel is on the wrong side", we always say "NO its on the Right side!". We have had lots of RHD cars around here in the USA for a long time. All our Mail carriers, Ice Cream Men, Meter Readers etc usually have them among others. Not sure what would happen if those of us with RHD cars started driving on the left though. Probably a lot of head on collisions! ;-)
Indeed not. A whole new design, unique to FORD Australia. Still has a LOT of cool and familiar styling ques that are reminiscent of classic American muscle cars.
Last we heard the client is still planning to move forward with that, and is continuing to accumulate materials and plan for when he is ready to get going. He does have an amazing collection of cars!
@@deadfingergarage Well, keep your eye on your local news if you are in Texas. If not keep your eye on our Facebook page and this channel for updates. No idea how soon it will be. Could be Months or Years for all we know at the moment. Totally up to the client to make progress as they see fit. We can't wait either!
@@ianmontgomery7213 Yep, it is too expensive for me to purchase one and ship it here to the US in the foreseeable future, prices are just climbing. I go on Gumtree and I see only one XC Coupe, the least desirable model, and it is a rusted pile of junk for A$30,000. Its a real shame more were not made and a lot were scrapped. If only they knew what they had.
Was propane a fuel option in Australia from factory or dealer prep? Lastly the steering wheel in both of those cars are on the wrongside! Just saying; )
The propane is an aftermarket add in pretty much all cases. Sometimes a Dealer install but not often. As for the steering wheel, its on the "Right" side! ;-)
Ford and Holden both produced lpg gas/petrol combos from the factory from the late 80's until both ceased production in Australia. I think the EA falcon series was the first ford, I'm not sure about the first model Holden. We used to produce Mitsubishi's and Toyota's too, but I dont know if they had factory lpg options. The government had a scheme going until about 4 or 5 years ago where they would subsidise the cost of installation to convince people to do it.
Greetings mate. My uncle had a Fairmont coupe 302 with white interior brand new in the 70s'. I think it was an XB. Nice car, bit cramped in the back....How do these cars ride compared to the US Fords of the same era. BTW are the US LPG fill necks the same as ours? I mean if a OZ LPG was shipped to the US could the cars be filled at Gas stations or do you have different nozzles? cheers brothers.
Greetings! Sounds like your Uncle had a cool car! The ride of these cars compared to USA makes is very similar. They are built on the Mustang, Torino, Comet, Montego chassis with a slightly different wheel base. Most parts even interchange with various USA cars of the era. The back seat is cramped about the same, even worse on the Mustang (might as well get used to not having circulation in your legs if you want to sit in back). The LPG fill is the exact same. Guessing it is an international standard. Thanks so much for watching and for your comment! Cheers!
+@@MadMaxCars The LPG filler , well that is good to know. I had a '76 Fairmont GXL in 1980, FMX 9 inch....fitted the 302 2V heads and it really bumped the CR up....LPG...can take high compression. BTW telling your mates that you own a 302 Cleveland in the US is a bit of a conversation starter . Looking forward to more vids.
@@BJBFOREST LOL, yes, most of us yanks (especially ones that know Fords domestically) will start in right away when you say 302C, and then of course the education starts. That talk inevitably leads to "You do know that have like 4 more types of heads for that engine than we do? Let me tell you about the Phase 4......". We do have a ton of other cool videos on the channel you my enjoy if you haven't seen our older ones. We will keep the new ones coming too!
+@@MadMaxCars Phase 4...the holy ground of HOs. In ' 72 the Victoria Police Traffic Operations Group received an XA GT for interceptor work...the Ford factory was just up the road from the Dawson st Transport branch. the car was owned by Ford and lent to the police. It had a huge carburetor on it without any carby id tags. ...it was reported to have reached 160mph whilst with the police. After a short time it just disappeared , returned to Ford. It is felt that it was a Phase 4 and was being tested for durability with the police. If anyone can break a car it will be a cop....Legends are made over a few beers but the person who told me was adamant and was in the TOG police at the time.
@@BJBFOREST That is SO COOL! It would be amazing to know where that car is now. We imported a Landau once that had Phase 4 parts snuck onto it. We were pretty sure it was one of the places that the factory "disposed" of some of the bits.
We can build them with really any HP rating depending on what the client wants. We actually did not build this particular one, but at a guess probably at least 400HP if we put it on the dyne, probably a bunch more. Thanks for watching and for your comment!
I'm not that familiar with the mad max engines....so that blower sits above the carb and is it functional or does it just spin for looks? I ask because blowers are normally mounted underneath the carb and suck fuel in through the carb and then into the manifold......
Most of the Mad max replicas are built with a non functional "Prop" blower like the one in this video, because the clients want the "Magic Superhero Power" from the movie of the On/Off Blower active by the red switch on the shifter. We do however build them with fully functional blowers from time to time when a client wants that instead. Thanks for watching and for your comment!
Original rust bucket to my farther had one he was 2nd owner of his and every panel and under every wheel arch had rust holes as big as a fist hole he'd get in to the thing after it had rained and puddles of water ankle high on floor it was brown also had 24000 miles on clock colour brown matched it shit box
These cars do often have considerable rust. We spend a good amount of time fixing that on every restoration we do. Great story about your Father's car. Thanks for watching and for your comment!
As longtime fans of the films we are definitely aware how they referred to the car in the first film, and often refer to it as the Pursuit Special or the Black on Black quite often. However in Mad Max 2 you might recall the line "Last of the V8 Interceptors, woulda' been a shame to blow it up!". It has in common parlance become commonly known that way, so its quite acceptable to refer to it as "the Interceptor" as well, in fact most people recognize it that way. So hopefully you will excuse us for using the titles interchangeably. Thanks for watching and for your comment!
For those not familiar with the Aussie Cleveland engine there was a 351 plus a 302 that was never available here in the US. That XB Fairmont was likely a 302 car.
Indeed it is. Now totally rebuilt to factory spec from the oil pan up. If you would like to see more videos of this car, you can see the "Barn Find" and "Arrival" videos elsewhere on our channel. Thanks for watching, and for your comment!
GTs were all 351. Early GTs used open chamber 4Vs The 302 were a 3" stroke crank, 6 030 rods, normal 351 pistons. Same block as a 351. 351 engines were all navy blue, 302s were brighter blue with orange rocker covers. And closed chamber 2V heads. And little 2 bbl carter or stromberg carbs on XA XB. XC used a Thermoquad on both 302 and 351. With the pollution requirements they ran the valves so hot the simply burrowed up the ports and made oval valve guides. And were 12mpg dogs! RThe XA XB engines never had these problems.
The Fairmount came with the 302 or 250 straight six. The 351 was a custom order as was the paint. Most were either the Brown or Cream in colour. Also the GS could come without the GT dash and grill if ordered that way. Great car I had a sedan GS Fairmont which I sold for $500 dollars back in the 80's to a guy that just wanted the hood. Didn't realise at the time that these cars would be a collectors item.
@@ldnwholesale8552 bro, don't forget the beautiful XR and XT gt's. Both legitimate gt's, both raced at Bathurst. XR GT came with a 289 Windsor, XT GT came with a 302 Windsor.
I have a Holden Sprinter Ute copycat I may consider selling once I get it painted. It's actually a '74 4 door Plymouth Valiant cut n chopped into a truck style car. One of none built and gets a lot of attention at car shows.
The aircon is not factory fitted, it is a dealer fitted option, factory fitted units were integrated, the controls were fitted into the heater control panel and the air runs through the dash vents. The Propane or LPG system is also not an original item, it was probably fitted in the 1990's by the looks of the converter and snorkel. The hood is also not original, it's a GT hood as it has the locking pins installed. Wheels are not factory either. It's a pre June 75 model as it has the vertical rear side marker lights. The fuel filler cap is also GT or JGS. Yes it's a nice barn find but very far from original.
Indeed much of what you are saying is quite correct. These days "Dealer Added" options are often considered essentially "original", as they were often supplied by the factory and added by dealer mechanics (as an SDC member I can attest that this is generally true among Studebaker collectors also, which I notice by your name you presumably are one). Of course the wheels are obviously aftermarket. However some of the things you mention such as the fuel cap and hood could be ordered as factory options, but also could have been added years later as well. You might note that we say in the video that the owner wanted it kept in "as found" condition as much as possible, and the restoration was done with that in mind. So when we say "original" in this context we often mean as the car was when it was stored away 20+ years ago. Thank you for watching and for your comment!
Studebaker owner, yes but I also own a couple of rare street rods and 2 March 1976 built XB Fairmont Coupes of which I've owned since 1982, No there not for sale!
Always glad to meet fellow Stude fans. I'm a card carrying SDC member, and have a 55 Commander Deluxe Regal Coupe, and also am restoring the 1951 Desert Explorer prototype. Don't sell those beauties! Keep them close to your heart!
That ford was running on propane? is that safe? granted we're hot rodders so the answer is always no of course not lol but still its the first I've heard of that really on a car that old as is from back in the day.
It's actually on the Right side (funny, not the Left side). This is for the same reason that vehicles in England, and a number of other countries have Right Hand Drive. The drive on the Left side of the road, and have cars built accordingly. For more information on why different countries have these differing road and car setups there are a number of great articles and videos online that go into the history of it. Thanks for watching and for your comment!
Its "again" for sale, from when this video was made. The seller it shipped to in this video enjoyed it for 7+ years and is now letting it go to a new owner.
@@jgvford Yes indeed. Already in the USA, and priced to sell. A steal for a buyer in the States, but with the current exchange rate and other customs details not maybe a great deal for someone in Oz. We tell all of our clients that there is no need to spend an extra 40-50K to get a GT when we can take a base model Coupe and make it a perfectly accurate looking Mad Max Interceptor replica. Besides, it would devalue a very rare car.
I don't see the appeal to take sort after Aussie cars over to America where most of there 70s era muscle cars are great just making it hard for the Aussie battler to own one.
Why can't someone make duplicate 3D printed bodies Ford Falcon Coupes and Monaros especially in the US because you'll have the technology to do so... all The Coupes just not to be found anymore anywhere unless they're $50,000 to buy one a rough one...why not we do it to AC cobras
The XY is one of the best looking Panel Vans in my opinion. I love the race history behind the XY and am aware of the GTHO Phase 3 and it's rarity/legendary status but I'm just not much of a sedan kind of guy.
We are actually quite familiar with doing rust repair on the Falcons. We will even take on some projects that nobody else would touch, like this one: ruclips.net/video/S-beKLB9Ti8/видео.html Of course we did not build this particular car as mentioned in the video, or it would be totally rust free. Check out our build series on the interceptor on this channel to see how we deal with rust on these builds. In any case thanks for watching and for your comment!
I am sure he would. John Goss came out to see us at the Ford 100th anniversary and was blown away by how many of us dig the coupes. He had a blast signing our cars. Thanks for watching and for your comment!
Wow! Thats awesome to hear. Its entirely my pleasure. It'll be good to see more Aussie built falcons go overseas including the infamous Falcon GTHO. Again appreciate the reply. Look forward to more. :)
We will keep the videos coming. Please feel free to check out all to other cool videos on our channel if you have not had the chance yet. We would love to see one of the GTHO, or a Phase 4 car, even love those XYGT and the Landaus.
That is a pretty good range. Of course there are always "Exceptions" that go for under or over by a surprising amount as well. It is curious how any unique "trim packages" Ford Australia did that are going for ridiculous amounts over standard ones these days. The Cobras, John Goss Specials, XA Superbirds, and the like. The you have dealer packages like the "Horn" cars, which might be roughly equated to the Yenko cars in the USA.
In the case of the Barn Find XB GS Fairmont in this video, it is set up with dual fuel. It can run on Gasoline, or Propane (LP in other parts of the world). You can see in the engine shots where the air cleaner is, there is a special intake for the propane, one of the many parts of that dual fuel system.
There tend to always be a number of Falcon XB Coupes available at www.madmaxcars.com its the best place in North America to find what you are looking for. Also they are the USA's first and most prolific improper of Australian Muscle Cars, so they can find a particular car just for you and import it from Australia directly. Thanks for watching and for your comment.
The car driven by Mel Gibson in "Mad Max" was not a Ford of any model, rather it was a Holden. Though I never saw the movie itself, I had seen the promo trailers often enough and the car is shown in those trailers. The trailers usually find their way into retrospectives on Australia's cinema history which, by the way, is older than America's. Australia's first cinematic effort was a movie on the Kelly Gang, led by Ned Kelly in the first few years of the 20th Century when Hollywood was just open paddocks and dusty goat-tracks passing as roads.
Um, not to simply be contrary, but its actually well documented as an XB Ford Falcon. Both the yellow sedan Interceptor, and the Black on Black Coupe. Very cool tidbit about the history of cinema though. Thank you for watching, and for your comment.
I think it would be a better idea for you people to manufacture replica XB Falcon bodies and panels rather than remove our precious few Falcons from Australia. These are iconic and now that Ford Australia has folded it really hurts to see the price of these vehicles skyrocketing beyond the reach of the people it was designed for.
We are all hoping that Dynacorn or someone similar starts producing the bodies. That would help every Falcon enthusiast. I totally understand though. Classic car prices around the globe are going crazy. Those bargain "every man's" muscle cars have been hunted and collected to where its hard for an average person to find one at an affordable price. Don't worry too much about the Falcons going overseas at least. There is less than 200 total XA,XB,XC Falcons here in the USA (and that includes Sedans, Utes, Wagons, Panelvans, and Hardtops), so it doesn't really affect availability back home.
PLEASE tell me you guys dont find genuine GT's and turn them into interceptors. I mean I love what you do , my first car was an XC ( Im an Aussie) .. I started driving in the 90's when you could get one for maybe 2 grand lol, now you're lucky to find a rolling shell for 10 . Anyway, as much as I feel a bit odd about them leaving the country, good to see them appreciated Ed- Saw the post with the other guy asking the same question, nevermind.
Rest assured we would not take a real GT and make it an interceptor replica, or any other really rare trim package for the matter. For the most part the ones that get built into interceptors are pretty good candidates for that sort of thing. In fact we go out of our way to save cars that nobody else would restore. Some that were literally on their way to the tip. Check out this video for an idea of what I mean: ruclips.net/video/S-beKLB9Ti8/видео.html Thank you for watching and for your comment!
If the fucking Yanks would stop buying all our coupes and driving up the prices, maybe we average Aussies could afford to own one of OUR own muscle cars.
Sadly thats a problem with classic cars all over the world, even here in the USA. The very few that have come to the USA really haven't had a tangible effect on the prices, it really more how many of them went to the tip over the years. Just like the 100's of Mustangs, Chargers, Challengers, Corvettes, Trans Ams, Camaros etc that have gone across the pond to you folks is not in any way the reason that the cars here cost ridiculous amounts. Thanks for watching and for your comment!
You certainly can do that. Quite a number of the parts we have available, though intended to go on the Falcon Coupes, can be used on other vehicles. Some with little to no modification, others with more depending on your exact vehicle. You can find everything online at our website www.madmaxcars.com
Glad you like the vid. Its interesting how mixed the feedback on the music is. Most folks seem to love it, but a number of people don't seem to like the Free Jazz/Rock Fusion thing.
Wow , stunning and they would work in the UK with driving on the proper side , none of this new fangled idea of driving on the left side of the car , heathens , lol .
LOL, yeah! They are also WAY fun in the USA where us heathens are used to driving on the left. So many people say "hey the steering wheel in on the wrong side!". I always say "No its on the RIGHT side!". Thanks for watching and for your comment!
No idea who Bob is, but if you want some context please have a watch of the video from when we rescued the GS from the Barn/Shed. Its not arbitrary or clickbait if that is what you are trying to say in your clever way. It is a reference to a specific car and previous video about that car for new and regular viewers. Links are in the description, but I am guessing you did not bother to even look for details or context before commenting. If you did, good an 'ya, but then I am truly confused what the comment is about.
Please leave these cars alone they are very rare and almost impossible to find they have a history in my country that's deeper then just the Mad Max Movies we have a car race in Australia held at the end of each year and these cars were credited with the first ever one .. two finish against Gm Holden racing they won't ever do this again as they don't race as two car teams any more not to mention that they obviously don't make these cars any more please leave them alone for the true aussie kid who saved every hard earned dollar to own one fuck off and leave our cars alone
Hi Luke, I think if you can convince your countrymen to stop importing all the rare Shelbys, Cudas, Challengers, Mustangs, Chargers, Corvettes, Trans Ams, GTOs, Camaros, etc we may be able to work out a deal. Seriously though, there are less than 200 Falcons here in the USA. Compared to the production numbers that is a drop in the bucket. I know its hard to see your rare vintage cars leave the country, we see it here in the USA all the time. At leas the few that cross the pond are going to people who restore and cherish them. Some of them were even on the way to the crusher and got saved. Better here than a new soup can or Toyota fender eh? Check this one out for example: ruclips.net/video/S-beKLB9Ti8/видео.html
We do often build them with functional superchargers, when the client wants it. Most want the "Movie Magic" on/off power of the prop unit like this however. Thanks for watching and for your comment!
Yup. The issues with having a blower that turns on after the car is running are, It would run like crap unless you had a system to switch the tune to a boost tune while running. It would more than likely blow the intake off.
We do appreciate the compliments. We do try to do top tier work on al our projects. As far as the client, I guess we will have to politely disagree. Seems like a Falcon Museum is a pretty respectable investment in our humble opinion.
We do get a few people who don't like music in the videos. Mostly the response is positive, but we still have been trying to make its use much more limited to try to accommodate everyone. Thank you for the input.
G'day guys , Love your videos and passion for our mighty Falcons..Ever done a XR or XW or XY GT in your time by the way ? I own a 2008 FG XR6 and an AU Futura built in 2001..love them both...Too bad no-one in the States can get the later ones without spending a fortune . Thank you for the kind words. We sure do love these incredible cars. Have yet to have a client want anything outside of the XA,XB,XC range yet, but would love to build one. We have dabbled with the Sedans, Utes, and even the Panelvans. It is a shame that only cars over 25 years old are really eligible for reasonable importation. We will keep at it. Thanks for watching and for your comments!
As a English Noblreman,i must say i'm repulsed by the crudely built peasents car of our cast off tosserpot riff raff aussies.Shame on you endorsing it,warts and all. But thats what i expect from our rejected blighters down under ( quite amusing actually, gave Her Majesty a chuckle..) Next time try an Astin Marti,Jaguar or RollsRoyce.

Really glad you liked the cars, and sorry you did not enjoy the music. This was posted some time ago. At the time, a Blues Rock - Jazz fusion undertone seemed appropriate to a number of our viewers. We still actually get a number of compliments on the music as well as a number of people who do not like it. Since then we have tried to use much more standard rock genre music for the times background is called for. Check out some of our more recent videos and let us know if that seems better to you. We certainty value the input. Thank you for watching and for your comment!
I totally agree that the original belongs in Australia. Perhaps in the Mad Max 2 Museum in Silverton. Unfortunately its in a museum in Florida now, after spending far too long in a museum in Keswick England. Thanks for watching and for your comment.
I think you mean it "should" be in Australia still. Unfortunately, its well documented where it has been since it got rescued from the crusher after filming of MM2. Its currently in the Dezer Collection in Florida.
Funny you should say that. Many of our Aussie mates say that there are so few coupes on the road now because, as they say "The were like Australia's Edsel, you couldn't eve trade them in, so folks scrapped them to get some down payment money". Not sure how true that is, but there sure is a lot less of them around these days. We do like the 4 doors too, and the Utes and panel vans. You guys build awesome cars! Thanks for watching and for your comment!
That is a great memory, and sound like a very special car!
:-)
Love the video guys greetings from Australia 🇦🇺
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching and for your comment. Cheers from Seattle!
I remember in the 90’s when I started driving there were still heaps of the coups around and the 4 doors were basically throw away
How times have changed
SO true. These cars were very cheap in the 90's. Crazy prices now.
@Brecken Enrique definitely, have been watching on InstaFlixxer for years myself :)
That Fairmont .. Is freaking sick!
I know right? We love that car. Thanks for watching and for your comment!
I mean that interceptor is bad ass. But of the two the Fairmont falcon.. Shed be in my driveway... BTW why hasn't any body built the nightriders HQ monero?
Yeah, they are both really cool. There are actually a few examples of the Nightrider Monaro rolling around, in the USA and Australia.

I love these Australian muscle cars.
Oh we totally do to. Beautiful arn't they? Thanks for watching, and for your comments!
À little hard to drive. Mine had no AC or power steering. It was a 1976 XB in copper. No rust but a couple off dings. The C4 trans and power dragged off a lot of '90's cars. Mine was a Fairmont.
Sounds like yours was a nice ride altogether!

Cool right? We build all sorts of stuff....
I will forever be at a loss to understand why Australian Ford Falcons were never sold in North America.
We got them in New Zealand by the boat load and love the things.
We do love them too here in the states. No idea why they did not bring them here. Should have for sure!
Overlapped with the mustang.
Can you please provide the link to that classified, ad you were speaking of?
Never mind I found it. Thank you for your help.
Stay tuned.
Can't wait to see that! Looking forward to it.
Remember taking a brand new XA GT 351 for a test drive as a youngster, absolutely loved it then and still love em, best looking Fords to come out of the factory here in Australia, can still remember when they were used by the New South Wales Highway Patrol.
They are beautiful cars. I have seen photos of those NSW Highway Patrol cars from when new.
nice work tucking it up close to the floor. speed bumps use to always grab mind .and then the flange would leak.
Thanks! Yeah we try to make all of our cars a roadworthy as possible!
Sure wish Ford had produced those here in the states! Beautiful cars!

Learned to drive in a '72 Gran Torino. She remains one of my three favorites to this day and I miss her. They're almost the same car.
Cool car to learn in! They are built on the Mustang/Comet/Torino/Montego platform.
Not even close to being the same car
Great video, just a shame to put music over the beautiful rumbling of those v8 engines... ;-)

Thank you!
Would have loved to see them arrive at the museum as a follow up vid,I think I've seen a vid of it in the museum though
We will contact the Museum client and see if he shot any arrival footage. If he did we will try to put a video together! Thanks for the suggestion!
I love this car.
Hope can buy it one day.
We would be glad to help. Reach out to us at www.madmaxcars.com when you are ready. Thanks for watching and for your comment!
If you have about $120,000. If I win the lottery..maybe one day.
My dream car would be to have the pursuit special. I love that car!

2 sweet cars!
They are beautiful aren't they? Thank you very much for watching and for your comment!
Awesome! Thanks for watching! When you are ready for a car, just let us know at www.madmaxcars.com
Hope that answers the question to some degree.
basically a torino, fairlane, falcon body 70-72 all ford ... but getting some sheet metal & do up reskin be very kool build if possible ..
It is the Mustang/Torino/Comet/Montego chassis. The body is quite different from the Torino when you see them next to each other. People do use the Sportsroof Torinos of that vintage for Tribute cars sometimes due to the similar look.
Wow, never realized how much the original XB cars look like Barracudas in the front.
They do have styling queues from all over the USA Muscle Car spectrum. Its what makes them so familiar yet unique. Really adds to the futuristic mystique for us in the USA.
Outstanding! Max would be proud.
Awesome! Thank you. Glad you liked it, and thanks for watching!
Another thing I noticed is that whenever I search for the Ford Fairmont GS online, it always comes up as a four door sedan. That must mean the production numbers for the two door are very low.
They made the 4 doors and Coupes in GS and GT trim. Not sure why the Sedans come up in a google search so much more for GS, but Sedan production numbers were considerably higher for all trim levels, so maybe because so many more are still on the streets being proudly shared on the net?
excellent work, nice to see the cult continue
Thank you very much! Glad you liked it. This certainly is a cult of crazy Mad Max loving folks. A true gearhead social club!
How can I get my hands on one of these mad Max interceptors?
Contact the team at www.madmaxcars.com we can build you one from the ground up, or you can save time and cost by grabbing the a finished turn key car that is in our classified ads right now for sale. MadMaxCars
that looks like a 429 in that mad max car ........wow huge motor
They are Block Block Fords, but I think both are 351C engines. thats for watching and for your comment!

Absolutely possible! That's what we do. We also build all sorts of other Movie & TV Star Cars and restore regular Muscle cars, build Hot Rods etc. As far as cost and international shipping you will want to contact the team at www.madmaxcars.com
Good men. Now you have some cars with the steering wheel on the correct side, you can start driving on the correct side also.
Probably a lot of head on collisions! ;-)
Not the shoebox Fairmont they sold in America 😂.
Indeed not. A whole new design, unique to FORD Australia. Still has a LOT of cool and familiar styling ques that are reminiscent of classic American muscle cars.

Michael Cuff For a base model, in okay condition, probably $20,000, if you want a nice one, upwards of $30,000.
In general terms that is true, though prices continue to rise. Plus shipping costs.
@@1spunkymonkey2 its hard to buy a Falcon XA or XB hardtop for under AUD70K these days.
I had a '76 Fairmont GXL in 1980, FMX 9 inch....fitted the 302 2V heads and it really bumped the CR up....LPG...can take high compression. what is the horse power on the ford falcon mad max one?
Thanks for watching and for your comment!

he'd get in to the thing after it had rained and puddles of water ankle high on floor it was brown also
had 24000 miles on clock colour brown matched it shit box
These cars do often have considerable rust. We spend a good amount of time fixing that on every restoration we do. Great story about your Father's car. Thanks for watching and for your comment!
XB coupe not an Interceptor, its called the Pursuit Special. The XB sedan was the Interceptor.
Early GTs used open chamber 4Vs
The 302 were a 3" stroke crank, 6 030 rods, normal 351 pistons.
XR GT came with a 289 Windsor, XT GT came with a 302 Windsor.
i would love to have a holden.

LOL, The Nightrider liked his ill gotten HQ Monaro!
He also was completely f****d in the head so...
That is a really REALLY good point. Look what happened to him.....
Kavinsky Smith.
Yes very safe. Cars converted to duel fuel (LPG / petrol) are very common, and have been around since the early 70s in Oz.
Huh, well atleast no matter what happens we'll always have a way to run our V8's then lol
Kavinski Smith'
Too right mate. I've got an old 327 Ponty that's been running duel fuel for years and will do for many more.
Yeah. Its not as common in the USA but we do it here too.
Why is the stearing wheel on the wrong side .

Are you guys turning genuine gt falcons into mad max cars? Don't do it to a gt
We tell all of our clients that there is no need to spend an extra 40-50K to get a GT when we can take a base model Coupe and make it a perfectly accurate looking Mad Max Interceptor replica. Besides, it would devalue a very rare car.
Good I was a little scared then
No worries! We love the GTs.
These things are worth a mint now, Ford deceased production in Aus a couple of years ago. Sad.
They are indeed. It was sad to see FORD Australia close the doors of its plant. Thanks for watching and for your comment.
the best falcons are the xy for all you yanks look them up and the history on them
Yanks hate 4 door cars

The XY is one of the best looking Panel Vans in my opinion. I love the race history behind the XY and am aware of the GTHO Phase 3 and it's rarity/legendary status but I'm just not much of a sedan kind of guy.
We love all those cars, the 4 doors as well. Some yanks don't get it but we do.
Anybody else see the rust spot on the black cars sill bad place on a Falcon !!!!
At least stay with da brown 1 beautful carz man. Eddy
It is one of our favorites that has ever come through the shop!

Cobras in immaculate condition go for $110k but I've seen a good one go for $80k Strange as they were Ford rejects.
Hertz I don't know a whole lot about these girl Falcons but when you say propane parts what parts are you talking about does it run on propane
Austin Wilson yeh fuel shortage prevention mate probably why she was parkd
Does that kooky offset plenum/air cleaner have anything to do with the LP?
We’re can you buy s 1973 ford falcon Xb coupe
Okay.
The Toe Cutter drives the Holden, Max has the Ford, all the fuzz have Fords too..
The "Fuzz"? Haven't heard the police called that in yonks! Give 'em Alka Seltzer, it will unfuzz the fast! LOL
Quite true. Thanks for watching and for chiming in!
Anyway, as much as I feel a bit odd about them leaving the country, good to see them appreciated
Ed- Saw the post with the other guy asking the same question, nevermind.
Check out this video for an idea of what I mean:
ruclips.net/video/S-beKLB9Ti8/видео.html
Thank you for watching and for your comment!
Falcon xb, the aussie mustang..
In some ways, for sure. They are pretty unique though.
Be nice if I could incorporate some of the MadMax mods on my Crown Vic, I'd have the most bitchen Vic around ever.
You certainly can do that. Quite a number of the parts we have available, though intended to go on the Falcon Coupes, can be used on other vehicles. Some with little to no modification, others with more depending on your exact vehicle. You can find everything online at our website www.madmaxcars.com
Great video except for the sucky music when the engines are running on the cars that were discussing
Hey Bob... Yeah Bob?... Want to get more views on this video?... Sure do Bob. Great put the phrase, "barn find" in it!.. Thanks Bob. Np Bob.

Check this one out for example: ruclips.net/video/S-beKLB9Ti8/видео.html
this car needs functional blower
We do often build them with functional superchargers, when the client wants it. Most want the "Movie Magic" on/off power of the prop unit like this however. Thanks for watching and for your comment!
Yup. The issues with having a blower that turns on after the car is running are,
It would run like crap unless you had a system to switch the tune to a boost tune while running.
It would more than likely blow the intake off.
You did your job well it appears obviously. It also appears your client has more dollars than sense.
We do appreciate the compliments. We do try to do top tier work on al our projects. As far as the client, I guess we will have to politely disagree. Seems like a Falcon Museum is a pretty respectable investment in our humble opinion.
Turn off music...
We do get a few people who don't like music in the videos. Mostly the response is positive, but we still have been trying to make its use much more limited to try to accommodate everyone. Thank you for the input.

Funny you should say that. Many of our Aussie mates say that there are so few coupes on the road now because, as they say "The were like Australia's Edsel, you couldn't eve trade them in, so folks scrapped them to get some down payment money".
