what a shame of production
dreadful, dreadful, dreadful staging. How could a Wagner relation get this so wrong?
What the hell is this? What does this have anything at all to do with Lohengrin?
So, now I just understand - Europa on the way to Hell. And its not important - what first violins played in 13`04`` .My miserable Richard Wagner!

Musically Great, Visually Hideous!
Eva Marton as Ortrud is REMARKABLE. She can sing wagnerian mezzo.soprano roles as Astrid Varnay did too...with A BIG VOICE. but...Birgit Nilsson never acepted a mezzo roles after her horrible 1980 Met´s Elektra...Sorry..she had no centre register to do it...

When I read the comments saying that the production is horrible and has nothing to do with the piece, I know for sure: the production is likely to be wonderful!
Ganz und gar nicht. Der Regisseur hat Wagners Intentionen überhaupt nicht verstanden. Text und Aktion stehen in krassem Widerspruch. Die ganze zauberhafte Handlung samt ihrer Mystik würde in tiefe, banale Nierungen herabgezerrt. Ich kenne die Oper seit 65 Jahren.
Übrigens, Elsa ist stimmlich hervorragend. Auch der Telramund.
Something's really wrong with the recording. In the interlude during Act 3 for example there's whole sections of brass missing
Sümegi, Fried, Perencz are the best.
