I generally avoid bad remakes, so keep this in mind. Texas Chainsaw Massacre is the worst remake I’ve personally seen.

Slightly changing the classic "because you were home" line kinda reminds me of every Spiderman movie that has to slightly change the uncle Ben line.
Also, I know how bad this movie would be just from that line alone when I watch the trailer. That line sounds weird, rather than eerie like the original one.

@@thedoncjg6263 nah completely disagree tbh. if we don’t keep reviews honest like LME does the art form will literally divulge into basic remakes like this continuously being pushed instead of independent creators who are making great films rn but that’s prolly too “dramatic” for you.
@@thedoncjg6263 they also didn't explore really anything different outside of what happened in the original. It actually really does follow almost the exact timeline of the original. One of the strangers knocks on the door and starts the confusion, man leaves the house leaving the girl alone, strangers come back and terrorize the girl they then do the exact fakeout where footsteps approach her but its just the bf again, they both then go out to a shed, and get separated and both get captured separately and we know what happens from there. It really is the exact same movie and worse one in my opinion. (Side note I loved Madelaine Petsch's acting despite the boring writing)

Oh, I never turn the light on when someone bangs on my door at night. Would never want to come off as rude. Also want to dim the inside lights to soften the mood, maybe play a bit of Gillian Welch, open a few windows, unlock a few doors..

8:11 i left the movie early cause this scene pissed me off, was on the edge of my seat begging him to crown her ass.... only for sack man to teleport next to him and knock him out, like bruh 😭
I think he hesitated cuz he only had 2 bullets left and was debating if he wanted to save the bullets or not and was prolly hoping the girl would comply better but his gamble backfired at least that's what it seemed like to me
I left the instant he killed the guy on the porch this movie had no business being so frustrating

When they train military, they train them to never make a threat they won’t go through on. If he said he was going to shoot her, fucking do it and don’t yap for 20 minutes saying “I’ll do it I swear!”

Strangers was a really good movie... I watch like a long time ago and it feels like no one know wtf is this movie about, but everyone stay silent and scream in sync!
It's honestly the best thriller movie experience..

I only saw the 2nd one from lme and honestly it's not good...
Because strangers 2008 at the Time it's doing what other movie didn't... Like it's very grounded... No magical ghost bs or idiot villain...
It's just felt so real... Like when they just stare at u from the blind spot on your window or the dark corner of your room...

I was not expecting such a specific Sister, Sister reference, but I can see the episode in my head, and now I'm dying 🤣😭☠️.
Like they could have easily did what Orphan did and made them been the first couple killed or even did why they started to kill. Make bag-head be a survivor of a home invasion { everyone in his family died} so he goes to a group therapy and thats when he meets the other two and thats when it starts

They lowkey did & they threw hints.. like the pamphlets being offered to them twice and the town acting weird & the old lady in the beginning getting aggressive because he hasnt married his girlfriend yet i be it’s some religious cult and they kill outsiders for not showing up to the meeting and for being sinner
They did. It’s because they can. That’s what the “horror” is to their character, there’s no explanation for their evil actions, no reasoning or justification to allow you to somewhat humanise them, they are just pure evil
Yup. I thought chapter 1 was gonna be the 3 killers as young teenagers get ready for their first kill. Instead they gave us part 1 all over again except it was way worse.

Not gonna lie I definitely believe that the townees are running a scam . I think the mechanics definitely sabotage the car cause all of a sudden their 2023-4 bmw stop working.

I only watched the first strangers. Cuz the psychological horror they did to the actors sent them to therapy lol 😅 best film. Also they knew how to simmer the violence.
The trailers for this kept emphasizing "Cuz you were here." Truthfully, i have no intent on watching this, but that line did intrigue me. So, the strangers are psychotic and pick people who just happen to be home?
yes. The original movie was based on a childhood experience of a series of break in where the robbers i think would check if anyone was home by asking for a random person. if no one answered they would break into the empty house. The killers are the inverse
@mark1A100 I'm confused. In the trailer, a boy comes to the door and asks "Is ___ home?" And the couple says no. So why do the Strangers come back? Why even ask if anyone is home when clearly, someone is home?

I honestly didn't get the hype for the original. It wasn't bad, but the ending left me frustrated and the sequel gave me better catharsis for the most part.
I actually prefer the second... Yeah probably because the bad guy(s) loses. In the first one, I was defeated after his friend showed up.... Ugh. It made me feel AWFUL! 😂

The hype for the original was just a very slow, dry, creepy movie. This was a rip off of that only horrible. The 2nd was the most fun.

I liked Prey at Night, the music was great
I went into the theater thinking this was supposed to be a prequel. I was pretty bummed when i realized it was basically a shot for shot remake of the original with a longer intro. Hopefully the next ones will be better but now that i know they shot all 3 movies within a couple months I wouldn't bet on it. Seems rushed.
Same same same! Just left the theater ,I thought the acting was good but the dialogue was cringey and lazy. I remember when they first used an iPhone or something in the movie I was like …oh….its not a prequel. Madeline was so good I’d love to see her as a final girl in something else but this movie was not great. I’ll still see the sequels cause I’m invested at this point. 😂

The fact that they think they can make a super cut and release all three as a super long movie is so funny considering this movie is total crap. Even if the next two somehow make up for this garbage, people either won’t pay to watch them all or will show up an hour and a half late to miss the first

I didn't think it was awful either, just a little anti-climactic.
What makes the strangers scary is also what makes any sequels automatically fail: you can’t tell the audience any background of the strangers so there’s no reason to check out any of the sequels cause the narrative is never pushed forward.
They need to leave this triolgy alone

Oof… mistakes were made. My daughter and I went to see it and we laughed the majority of it. The original was good because of Liv Tyler. Her face in a constant state of fear is what makes it horrifying and so good.
Yeah its basically the first movie. I thought it was a prequel about how the killers became who they are. That would be more interesting.
They will explain that in the 3rd film of this new remake.

I didn't mind this film, wasn't the best horror film but I thought it was solid saying that though I have known of The Strangers films but haven't seen one before plus I had lower expectations for it which I think accounts for my view on it.

@@SpareGiraffeNO! Just rewatch the original and save your money. Everything about this remake is legit worse in every aspect compared to the OG. The main characters are some of the dumbest and incompetent characters in movie history. So so bad.

This movie was torture to watch. The audience will commit self exit from boardroom if you force them to watch a 4hr movie of this. It was literally so horrifically boring. Like I’m not joking, I’ve recently felt like movies are super short. This movie made 90 minutes feel like 30 days

I think the only difference between this and the original is that the original what’s good and it wasn’t a film series. Honestly, they didn’t even have to make a remake let alone another remake couple years later. Prey at night was decent. The only good thing about this movie is the actors were already known actors.
Keeping my critiques to myself until I see all the chapters… really hoping the next two films are as good as the rumors are saying. This definitely was just a launch pad for the trilogy for sure, it was basically beat for beat like the og film just updated…
I enjoyed the film. I never saw the original. But it had some scary moments and good scares. We also got to know the characters. The killers liked the game and the chase. It made some sense.

If they’re gonna turn it into a franchise at this point, they might as well create different home intrusion scenarios in different locations rather than have the same killers and ruin the anonymity that they had in the first movie.
Just went and seen this last night with my fiancé and some friends, I have not previously seen the other films and did not have knowledge of previous installments until this video. The survival instincts of the couple is absolutely dreadful, just making all of the opposite choices of what I would do. But, the ambience and feel of the movie itself though was very good to me. I think the “strangers” are what carried this movie. Maybe a 6-6.5/10 in my opinion. Final note: why the heck did Ryan not hop out of his car when he got his leg free and just hop in the ford pick up??? It was the bet option being that it was still on and was a viable running vehicle, and he decided to walk through the foggy woods leaving all sides vulnerable… other than that, decent movie!
Well at least all three are coming out meaning no unfinished stories.

This might be a WILD theory and may not even be true but when i was watching it I just could not help but wonder what if these set of strangers AREN'T the real strangers and instead are a bunch of copy cats who are just mimicking the real ones..... Something about their strategies and way of hunting their victims seems way off compared to the original. I know the original aren't connected to this and more or less its a retcon but I help but wonder.
