It's as awesome as I thought it was going to be! I love the tip with the copper tape. I use it often and it is really uncooperative. I never thought about taping the ends down like that. Thanks!
I am glad to hear you like it! When I was about halfway through, I got really frustrated and kinda scrapped a bunch of it and restarted, and I am glad that I did, I like it much better now🙂
Watching this while I work on your ‘mini top hat.’ Fingers crossed in the future I have the confidence to tackle a big project like this. For now I’ll work my way up with the smaller projects ❤
Speaking as a cosplay/convention neophyte, this might be a silly question but why go through all that with metallic tape? Is there a reason you don't just use copper pipe?
Hey Wax! I got your pattern and making preparations to make this awesome gun. Unfortunately, none of my second hand stores have an electric knife and all the utility blades I can find have the short blades that look way too short to mold the stock. I looked through your list of tools and didn't find any mention of a utility knife. What do you use?
Hi there, I use the style of utility knife that has a blade you can extend out from the knife. I have a bunch of different kinds, but even the really cheap ones will work alright, just make sure it can lock in place. Something like these: amzn.to/32uAr1m (affiliate link) The thing that is more important than the knife handle, is the blades you use. The ones that come with a cheap knife can be alright, but they can also be not super great, I like to buy Olfa Ultra sharp blades: amzn.to/3hoscby (affiliate link) They cut foam really well, better than any cheap blades I have tried. Hope that helps a bit!
@@LostWax2 Thanks for the reply! Maybe Im just looking in the wrong areas because the only extendable blades I've found are meant to snap off at intervals.
@@Aprilisms Yep, the ones that snap off at intervals are the right ones, you just don't snap them off. Also, if you are going to be doing a lot of foam work, a good sharpening stone can save you lots of money in blades.
@@LostWax Oh okay! Thank you so much for your help! Also, thanks for the sharpening stone tip. I'm fairly new with foam but not new to the crafting world so thankfully I already have one! Have an awesome day!
@@LostWax They agree to get their guacamole wasted for the sake of your (great, btw) videos ? ^^ Yeah, sounds like very good friends ! Please keep on making these tutorials, they're super interesting to watch and your silly humour is on point.
It's important to remember...don't get Steampunk mixed up with Cyberpunk. Cyberpunk is based on the 'internet', and as such would be 'the future of 1980'. Steampunk is considered 'the future of 1890'. ;)
Don't cut off your fingers! 🤣 The hat bowl part was unexpected and made me laugh really hard.
This looks incredible!!
Thanks. I just saw the bowl in the thrift store, and knew it needed to have it's time in the spotlight! Thanks for watching and commenting:)
@@LostWax a great choice 🤣 Of course! I love your videos 👍 keep it up!

It's definitely a good idea to start with an easy project, and get some techniques figured out, saves a bit of frustration later on:)
Just the pattern I was waiting for. After great success with some of the others, I can’t wait to give this one a go.
I hope it turns out great for you!
I love this!!! already got my pattern and can't wait to give it a go!
Awesome, thanks for watching!
I turned off my adblock and watched all the ads. I love this! Onto part two!
Awww, what commitment!! Thank you!
You've really nailed the steampunk look
Thanks!
Lovely build. Love things made from scratch. Cracking job mate .
Thank you! Cheers!
Chris awesome idea in wetting the copy to transform it onto the foam. 😜👍
Thanks. I use it quite often, as long as I am not working with black foam:)
@@LostWax 😆...lol I hear you!
Great tip though.
oh, love this, cant wait to try it!!

I think I did it that way just as a cost saving. You could definitely use copper pipe, though bending it can sometimes be a bit tricky.
hay, one question how is the diameter of the golf club thing. Greetings from Germany, I'm already looking forward to starting 😄
Can't wait to make it.
Slt sa serais bien que tu nous donnes les plans et la liste des fournitures pour le fabriquer stp🙏🙏
Congratulations! Can I suggest doing a steampunk blunderbuss?
Yeah, that would be great!
we do the same thing with our scraps for the doggie bed lol we are buying all of your patterns this week!~!!
Yay!!
This gun just look awesome!! 👍👍👍
For some reason RUclips suggested I watch one of your videos.
Subbed at festive hat bowl.
Awesome channel. Makes me want to make.
Does the foam also come with the purchase cause I'm thinking of buting this
No, this is just a digital pattern that you can download after purchase, there is nothing physically sent to you.
Nice job!
I'd love to make a steampunk double barreled shotgun using that stock.
Awesome. Great video!
Is there a list or something like that when i buy the pattern. which foam thickness i need ? Just saw only 2mm 10mm and 12mm. and btw awesome work ^^
Yes, the pattern lists the different foam thicknesses needed. If I remember correctly, you only need 12mm and 2mm.
@@LostWax Thank you for quick response

Man, your tutorials are awesome and you're funny as hell but I wouldn't like to be your friend XD Poor friends with their guacamole in a mess !

Hello. What foam do you use?
I just used some square interlocking EVA foam exercise mats for the thick foam, and 2mm thick craft foam fro the thin parts.
Will hot wire tools work on this type of foam?
I wouldn't use hot wire.
awesome as always!
Thank you very much!!
Funny as hell🤣🤣🤣
Awesome
Amazing 😮😮
Thank you!!
Hey I received an email saying you updated the steampunk plague mask, what did you update after all those years?
It had some safety updates as well as an alternative to the solid lenses for more ventilation.
This amazing.... Omg dude you realy cool
Thank you!
Love your videos and can also recommend the Ultimate everything super value pack.
Thanks for the kind words, and glad you are finding that the Ultimate Bundle is worth it for you!
Thats awsom
Imma say it...
Isnt this the gun preston gravey gives you in fallout 4?
You're just awesome man...can u pls replicate a Kar98k rifle..there are already a few videos in YT but m sure you'll rock
Awesome as always but dont use floormat! They can be toxic if yout heat them up
Yes, if you heat EVA foam, always do it outside.
Is it in the bundle? I don't see it :(
Yep, it is, it's called "steampunk gun" though I haven't added it yet to the description on the sales page. I'll update that right away!

Damn, I don't have a festive hat bowl. Guess I can't make the gun
Maybe you could learn pottery, make a festive hat bowl, and then make the gun?? I think it would be worth it:)
i gave you props in my video :)
Thanks!!
I’m thinking about adapting your pattern to a Nerf rifle I have. Off to purchase your pattern.
Cool, I'd love to see how it turns out!

This is how you dont make someone call the police : spray paint NOT A GUN on it. It wont work!

Why don’t you just use real copper piping ???
you definitely could, just might get a bit heavy.
