NEW subscriber incoming! Enjoyed that tour of the stoves Thom and looking forward to watching more of your videos. 👍 I made a review video of the Trangia Mini for my channel a year or two ago and did a nice breakfast fry-up in it. Would be great to see how your rosti fairs in the Mini. ATB - Ben
I remember that video. They make amazing fry ups! That’s how I tested mine but if I’m honest I was sold on it long before it turned up. Thanks so much for the sub and as ever I look forward to your next video. Although I’m silent on your channel, I do enjoy catching up with what you’re up to. I should engage more!
It's not minimalist but Trangia do a "Billy" that's designed for the 27 to fit perfectly inside. It has a good capacity and sits high up on the frying pan holders...which means you can simmer endlessly and nothing burns! (Stew from scratch for at least 3 (or whatever)..Beautiful!).
Too similar for me to choose on my own! And your choice brings it even again. I have a couple of days to decide. Can’t wait to get out and make an actual cooking video!
Me personally...I'd go with the "off the beaten.." but I'd use a smaller stove..the small alcohol stove is awesome. I have the BRS-3000.. I love that thing. Tiny, light and reliable.
Haha. I’ll never live that down. In this case. They will both be as easy in slightly different ways. The trangia mini is not a flat pan as it has a ridge. However it has better heat distribution. My own set up has a flat pan that is prone to hotspots.
Hi Thom, thanks for sharing, I do have an unhealthy addiction to camping cookware and stoves! I'm loving your own cookset with the Trangia triangle, but the mini is a great option too. Have you seen how much people are trying to sell the Trangia Triangle for these days (aycarumba, it's eye watering!), I've no idea why Trangia have stopped making it. I've been using the Trangia burner with a little Evernew trivet recently. Add a windshield and a titanium pot and it makes for a nice light cookset. Worked well on a recent camp on the moor. All the best 👍
Evernew are a great and often overlooked brand. And yes. The trangia triangle and mini are both as rare as rocking horse s**t and they’re selling for silly money. I’m grateful to have them already. Mind you. There’s still a million other sets I’d like to own that cost a fair bit more. And who said it’s an ‘unhealthy’ habit?!!
Trangia is the best! Take the mini and maybe get a Firebox nano, all very compact and the nano supports a Trangia burner or you can use twigs. You have a stove/ cooking set addiction like me.😂
I’ve stayed away from the firebox purely because most of my cooking is usually away from twigs! Intrigued by using it with the trangia though I think my Trangia Triangle would be the same? Yes. I have a stove/ cookset addiction. I’m pleased I’m not the only one! We should start a support group.
It would be great to see you use the Trangia 25. I've got a set myself but just can't find the love for it. I guess it's down to the weight. I bought a Claus Olsen set many moons ago and swapped out the burner for a Trangia one - it's just so much lighter and less fiddly with cold hands. It pretty much does the same as the 25 as well. Most of the kit you are rolling with I've got same or similar having been into Bushcraft for over the last 15 years. Just can't seem to settle on a "go to" set up. Anyway good luck with the up and coming adventure what ever you choose to take. Another great video cheers
David. I understand what you’re saying. When I say ‘go to’ I mean that’s the one I’m best at using. But it never stops me taking the other ones out! Re: the trangia 27. I shall do some on that in the future. I generally save that if there are 3 of us to cook for. Before I had that one it was pot noodles in a cheap Coleman stove. Then my dad got me a trangia 27 and I was like ‘ooooh. It’s a kitchen!’ Claus Olsen are lovely things. Good work! Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment.
Your ''Swedish Army cookset'' is not quite that, it's a hybrid. The stand and burner are Swedish Army, the original Swedish Army pots of a similar configuration (deep pot and lid/frying pan) were however oval in shape rather than the kidney shaped ones you have which are probably Hungarian or Polish, not sure which and may be different but anyway of a very common European design based on German Army mess kits. The Swedish Army mess kit is made both in aluminium and stainless steel, the stainless kits together with windshield/stand and Trangia/Svea spirit burner are pretty much sought after as they are bombproof albeit on the heavy side.
That’s great info to have thank you! When it arrived I did wonder why the kidney shaped cookset had some difficulty in nesting in the stand. I just put it down to the army liking to make things a little awkward for themselves. Thanks so much for enlightening me
Hi Thom. The Trangia mini gets my vote. A little bit of constructive criticism, please can you stop using jump cuts in the editing, or try to reduce the number of them, it makes the videos difficult to watch. Thanks.
Absolutely. The only reason I edit like this is because usually I’m saying ‘ummmmmmmmm’ or swearing or tripping over my words. As I make more videos i get more succinct and there will be fewer jump cuts (I dont like them either) Thanks for the vote!
Which stove should I take?
The Trangia Mini, love it!
Thanks for the vote.
And yes it’s an incredible stove. Hard to beat it really
Take your own pot, would be interesting to see 😁
@@Tiger-789 thanks for the vote Tiger!
Trangia mini of course. You know you love it.
It’s a wonderful thing. And spoiler alert. That’s exactly what I used.
KK all the way with the hobo stove

I’ve wanted to try their ‘billy’ for some time now.
I would love to see the Trangia mini in use.
Thanks Pamela. It staring to pull ahead in the votes now.
Trangia Mini all the way. Mainly because I'm a Trangia fanboi.
Me too. I probably should have mentioned my own set uses the trangia triangle.
Cool show of Your sets! I want to see the Off The Beaten Pot! Looks like both yhst and the T Mini could perform in a similar way.
Too similar for me to choose on my own!

Trangia.
It just works.
Can’t argue with that!
My own set is a trangia triangle.
But the pots and pans aren’t.
Seems the trangia mini might take it!
Good variety of cooking systems I was hope for the Trangia Mini. I absolutely love mine.
And I adore mine too. I hope the trangia micro lives up to it. Though I’ll always have my trusty mini.
