- in this video Stefan talks to a group about Baumann's 12 Insights on Painting Plein Air and Studio. covering composition drawing, and brushstrokes that will improve your landscape, still life and Plein Air painting. Inspiring Millions to paint outdoors This video is about Touch Move and Inspire. Get a free Book at his website www.StefanBaumann.com. The paintings of Stefan Baumann reveal the true spirit of nature by transporting the viewer to distant lands that have gone unseen and undisturbed. With the huge success of Baumann’s weekly PBS television series “The Grand View: America’s National Parks through the Eyes of an Artist,” millions of people witness for themselves the magic Stefan portrays on canvas, his passion for nature and the American landscape. By distilling his love of nature into a luminous painting of brilliant, saturated color that transcends conventional landscape and wildlife art, Baumann has captured the hearts and imaginations of a generation. Each painting becomes an experience rather than merely a picture - a vivid manifestation of his special and personal union with nature and the outdoor world. Through his mastery of light, color and artful composition, Baumann invites you to experience nature in its purity. It is no wonder that for many years distinguished American collectors, including former presidents and financial icons, have sought out his work.

I wish the camera would find the focal point, lol. Great stuff, Stephan.

Yes, it will be my first convention. Your video about the last one convinced me I needed to attend. And I will see you for the paint out. i have a pith helmet I paint in, can't miss it. Thanks again for all your encouragement and knowledgeable lessons, can't get enough of them
Thank you Stefan for all the amazing tips! Your teachings are just what I needed to take my art to the next level.
thanks if you think your art is improving you should try my coaching class
Stefan Baumann coaching classes! I may be able to do that sometime.
thank you for posting
Your So welcome
Wow! Overwhelming lecture with lots to absorb. Thanks so much for this lesson. I'd love a video discussing just transitions.
I had to re-watch this and write down the 12 points. I plan on typing it up, printing it out small, trimming it to a size that's easy to carry like a business card size, and laminating it. It'll be a great refresher while I'm out plain air painting. Thanks, Stefan!
I'm always interested in your observations , keep on watching
Listening to him speak about values, and all I can see is the bark on the tree at the right side...thinking of pencil sketching...
Thanks
excellent lecture , many thanks.....
Thanks
My husband said my 'trees' looked more like broccoli...perspective was off. LOL.
@Rollo Larson Salad landscapes... I have gotten better but a work in progress no doubt. Note to self: must practice drawing.
@Rollo Larson Proko and Aaron Blaise are excellent channels lots of material to learn from. I know there are other channels out there sorry to not list them all.
Thank you so much for your reply, last point taken. Lol.
Your welcome
If I want to paint using all these concepts how would I start? Would I start doing a few paintings that focus on just one concept and then gradually build up to incorporating them all in following paintings? Would that give me the practice to paint using these concepts almost as second nature?
Stefan, If I paint most of my painting outside and put finishing touches on in my studio/ laundry room lol, is that cheating? Can I still call it Plein Air. I wanted to put my painting in an online Plein Air competition but the rules said it had to be completed in the field. So I couldn't enter it. I like to take pictures and finish at home.
Yes you can, almost every artist touches them up in the studio, the goal is to do it done on location but once the painting is home it is hard not to resist touching it up or in many cases F&%king them up! lol
Ironic he talks about focal point and goes out of focus
