No #37 decals on their helmets? Did they ever pay tribute to him for the season?

This was my first year watching, and being a fan of the Chiefs. I remember the Cowboys game and the MNF game with the Chargers. MNF wouldn’t return till 1991

If the Joe Delaney tragedy didn't happen the Chiefs would've been a playoff team in the 80s.

As I'm watching this, I can't help but notice how empty the stadium was in all the clips showing K.C. at home versus Denver, like @ 0:55 + 13:24 . Then I got to the @19:30 mark, and that explains everything. Those are your die hard fans there.

+TheAlfrulz Kansas City's attendance was dreadful back in the 70s and 80s when they first moved into Arrowhead it finally got turned around during the Marty Schottenheimer era in the 90s where they started to become a more competitive team consistently in the AFC West and had a long streak of sellouts going. The attendance was usually better in the beginning of the season or when the Raiders or other marquee teams came into town. That Denver game you mentioned only had 11,000 people show up one of the lowest attended games in NFL history.

Right on. I remember reading a story from Bill Maas during the eighties about when he stopped at a gas station. He had four chiefs tickets sitting on the dashboard in clear view and went to the store with the door unlocked and the window rolled down. When he came back he was surprised to see he now had eight tickets sitting on his dashboard. lol

If I remember correctly, the Denver game was one of the coldest in Chiefs history and it was the final game of the season. People had really given up on the team at that point. You were truly one of the remnants if you made it out to the stadium that day; it was not a popular thing to do,
