Trayce Jackson-Davis Is Who The Warriors Drafted Wiseman To Be

  • After one of the most embarrassing losses in franchise history, the Warriors came home to face a streaking Bucks team led by Giannis. With a solid team outing, it was the rookie Trayce Jackson-Davis who came off the bench to finish pick and rolls and protected the rim. This impressive showing is who I imagined Wiseman should’ve been, so let’s break down his performance.

Another huge difference between Jackson-Davis and Wiseman: Wiseman played less than a season of college basketball, Jackson-Davis played four years. Being able to mature through college ball is Jackson-Davis's advantage.

I want to be fair to Wiseman here because he's a good kid. TJD has played WAY more basketball than Wiseman AND his father was an NBA player. Those are two huge advantages. Also that 2020 draft class was almost impossible to scout due to the pandemic. Proper evaluation may have shown that Wiseman wasn't fit for what the Warriors needed. I feel bad for the kid because being a #2 pick comes with a lot of scrutiny and he clearly wasn't the second best player in that draft.

but nah, seriously I think Giannis really expected the warriors to be the kind of team he could get whatever he wanted against from a bully perspective. And TJD was right there ready to meet him at the rim every time. Awesome stuff from the rookie in a much needed game. Giannis will remember this for next time, but it showed how he can get lost in a bully mentality pretty often and not adjust when someone is just as athletic as him.

Wiseman would of been better off had he stayed another two years in college. This is what scares me for LeBron's son. The kid isn't ready yet he's going to need at least 3 to 4 years of college but it won't happen because he's pressured to play with his dad.
