I am really enjoying these tutorials. I have been claying for quite a few years, but it's always nice to see alternative ways with clay or new ideas!! thank you so much for sharing 🙂
I think the woodgrain is lovely!! Using an ecru or sand colored clay along with the translucent should give a very woody look. I can't wait to try it! Thank you for inspiring me!
I just love this wood grain look. It is so beautiful. I am curious though why you use Guilder's Paste instead of some other colorant? I looked it up and it is nine dollars per ounce, requiring several colors and therefore, several ounces. I don't know what else I would use it for. Thank you.
I'm not sure. I don't think so, because the gilders paste gives that grained look. It would look different with powder, but it could look pretty cool, so try it out if you want.
hi SSamantha could you use pearl white translucent and mica powders or oil paints? I don't have the guilders paste so thinking of other options.... thanks
I’m confused how it’s possible that there are literal dots and circles that look like wood knots that have formed.. how is it possible that that happens just by pushing the clay with fingers? Can you explain that more please?
By pressing on the layers you are distorting them. So in an area where you push down with your finger you are pressing the layers down. When you slice that area you get the effect of a wood know.
Thank you so much. Could i also use pigmets instead of the gliding Color you used.
I was gonna ask the same thing
Yes. You can.
I love wood grain techniques for making fairy house doors and such! Interesting new way to make it!
Samantha, thank you for another great video. It was so exciting to see you make the first cut and see what surprises waited inside.
Can you use alcohol ink instead of gilders paste? Thank you.

I love this! And the colors you've chosen actually give this a paua shell look. Fascinating!!🌼

Very interesting use of different materials.
this is definitely one I'll be trying

It's the gilders paste that creates a cool scratchy look that imitates the wood grain. I've found that's the only way to get that scratchy look.
Just beautiful.
Excellent instructions. Thank you!
Will try this today 👍🏻
bonjour samantha, pourrais tu réaliser un tutoriel pour faire un bois flotté? un bois blanc merci
Hi there, I love all your videos! Would the effect still be there if you used powder pigments instead of guilders paste?.. Michelle S.
I'm not sure. I don't think so, because the gilders paste gives that grained look. It would look different with powder, but it could look pretty cool, so try it out if you want.
Thank you:) I will give it a go! Fingers crossed ... michelle
Very cool!! Love it! 😁
Another great tutorial. Thank you! Do you need to seal it because of the gilder's paste?
Yes. It is best to seal this technique as there are some areas were the gilders paste is exposed.
Jessama Tutorials Thank you.
Beautiful
Lovely!

You can give it a try. It will work, but will come out with a very different effect.
Jessama Tutorials thanks Samantha 😊
Where can I get the paste?

Now what would you make with something like that?
I was thinking along the lines of something tribal.
C'est superbe !
Excellence, pure and simple. Thanks for the share...
