OTT is right, people are gonna be playing even less now. They know there's basically nothing big to look forward to in the current server. Happens every time an announcement like this is made.
Tbf, people didn't need this announcement to know that there is basically nothing worth looking forward to with 4.0 any longer.

I agree with him when he said that he thinks they just had placeholder stuff in for certain unlocks, at least that's how it felt. I get gating certain things so people just don't grind through everything, but there certainly seemed like a handful of placeholder mechanics and/or dead ends until an update released the rest of it - which usually reworked certain parts of the initial mechanic

didn't some high up devs at the con say they working on something really big that would push 4.0 or am i wrong?? if it happens im sure people will come back bc its something new. thousands of gta servers as long as they find a place all that matters.

I have been out of the loop for a while but has there been any big heists/robberies. I remember at the beginning they were all trying to get dongles from the Laundromat but did anything else come down the line. I thought Koil said there was a dev just doing heist stuff but I haven't seen any. Again I haven't been watching much so sorry if i'm just out of the loop
My guess, and it's only a guess, is they are developing 5.0 without any of DW's code involved in it. Removing all of his coding from 4.0 while updating with new content would have been a lot more work.

4.0 has never been the same since the first three weeks of it coming out. Unlike 3.0, the mentality has completely changed, and the roleplay is suffering as a result. I hope they manage 5.0 better

I feel like it's not the servers fault really. I think that RP has been around for years now and it will never be as "fresh" and "engaging" as it was years ago. There were not too much mechanics, jobs, activities etc. years ago but people still watched for the RP itself. Remember the 32pop gta online servers without shit. But now when there is like a full game built within a game it's not enough and people whine more than ever. The mentality has changed for sure

@@Valters3006 It won't be as fresh or as engaging, but I still feel at the core of it a lot of decisions management made were strictly speaking anti-RP for example:
-10 months in and still pretty much no business RP
- HQ restrictions on who you can do jobs with & gutting the collaborative weed selling hubs
- Debtor's law (stifling The Clowns, BBMC, and James Randall style RP)
- No whitelisted things so less reason to interact, every group is more or less it's own self sufficient island.

Nothing is gonna change in 5.0 without koils intervention and new people in charge. 4.0 proved how shit it is without koil around
Prodigy also shows how bad NP is without the owner with a sound image of what the server environment should be like is. Ravage is there all the time guiding what Prodigy should be like. Koil not being there is a big issue.
Look I say this. I will always have faith in koil on building a server but it’s the culture issues that no pixel got to fix. I am pretty sure everyone can agree on koil will always bring an amazing and good looking server but if you can’t fix all the current issues 5.0 will just be another 4.0
nah it was all because of the expectation of it being the same as 3.0 but that will never happen, 3.0 was unique or once in a lifetime because it introduce GTA RP to new big streamers and tothe whole twitch

but during 3.0 because not just Twitch streamers but youtube streamers joined in the hype, people dropping their main games to play GTARP
while in 2.0 they cant because there's a lot of new great games during 2.0 like Fortnite, PUBG etc

Shut down the server like they did in between 2.0 and 3.0 make everyone take a proper break not just a weekend. Even if its a different server for 2 weeks I think it would do wonders for the people who are clearly living a 2nd life since 3.0

Looks like 4.0 was just that bad expansion pack every game has when in reality 5.0 was happening behind the scenes. I think someone else in the comments was right I think 4.0 was dropped as a pissing contest between them and ONYX so everything was rushed to oblivion
buddha was very careful with his words when Rockstar bought fivem. so maybe something big is coming and nopixel had to choose whether to drag out 3.0 or drop 4.0 and make it short.

That's a good point, it was really hype when it first released, but the rewards structure was ass, I.E. people who did Towing got the lockpick and it was done...

4.0 has way too many issues, issues where the Dev's has no idea how to fix, so its better to start all over than to look and fix all the issues.
I imagine they're just going to roll their bigger development and plans forward to the 5.0 update, economy reset, and scratch some of the more deeply ingrained components of 4.0 that aren't working out as hoped. Ramee made the good point that any big group is so up good they can steamroll through new heists etc so why burn them on 4.0. Use 4.0 as a testing ground for stuff with the new updates and build toward 5.0
buddahs comments lead me to believe this is probably launching by christmas time of this year. if its only starting development and wont be out for a long time you would throw a date on it to show its not coming out anytime soon

4.0 has been crap from the rip. The city feels empty with nothing to do. Prodigy is way more fun.

buddha has been talking about huge map mods with new locations so my guess it, they are scrapping 4.0 at it stands and reintroduce it with better mechanics.
They need to have new places in LS, like all the other relevant servers are doing, (straight up new sandy shores town, fun features like skating etc) because for the most part, 4.0 has just been rehashed 3.0 and it's all over the place whenever they introduce mechanics and then debuff them .

Pretty sure GTA6 is confirmed to be coming sometime fall 2025 so if they’re just now starting development then what’s even the point unless they got access to GTA6 early. Otherwise they’re just making a server that’ll fall off just as quickly as 4.0.
pc version wont be out for gta6 for like a year after console launch so NP 5.0 will have like 2 years of play if they release anytime soon

I do agree that console will drop first but I can see the pc version dropping a few months after that. Although I could easily be wrong tho so I guess we’ll see

@@SPACECOWBOY242 I promise you, no streamers or viewers will be streaming/watching GTA5 RP when GTA 6 is out. You can easily make a private online server for everyone to RP on. Even if it has to be on console. A scuffed GTA 6 console RP server is going to be far better than anything FiveM can do.
Koil will release 5.0 within 6-7 months.

4.0 had to much MMO design with SIM elements. Basically design in opposition of NoPixel RP which exploded with the wired and whacky GTA style content like James Randal and Mr K. GTA might come next year, however the PC version could be even a year or 2 later, with RP severs taking even longer. Right now if there is a wipe, with the amount of grind it has, 4.0 is gonna straight die. Civs got basically nothing, crims got millions, PD got a roller-coaster of mismanagement (This includes the Public server) and RPers got to happy with shooting over talking due to basically zero oversight, unlike Prodigy. Not to mention the Public servers, the big time prio money generation for NoPixel, is not even close to the whitelisted server. They said on discord it's the same, is a complete lie. Public don't have a government. No mayor, only private behind the scenes cliches. Sure it had Lawyers, Judges and PD, but zero accountability for any high standing positions, especially when one of the first big court cases they have goes to show both are corrupt in the publics view (Blue trial between Chief of PD and Rob Banks over illegal parking) overseen by a Chief Justice. I can count on my fingers how many RPers stuck around on a single hand after that 8 months later, and I'm one of them. 4.0 is simply a failure, but it ain't at all only server/gameplay design. It's 50/50 between that and the people in charge within these positions with an utter failure to look 2 steps ahead at how their actions would effect the sever meant to generate revenue, thus needing players to purchase prio and whitelist apps

The big 4.0 reveal was mainly focused on graphics. Which failed horribly bc server kept crashing and it didnt work. The trailer looked amazing but i feel the same might happen with 5.0
4.0 was a failure, besides teaming up with graphics conpamy team, doors and buildings you can edit, sewers, building things from the ground up so other servers can copy theirs was there anything else huge that was brought in? I stopped watch half way in.
They were constantly hiring more devs, what exactly got done?
I cannot help to think that if this is accurate that it has something to do with the lawsuit. As in there is still bits of code being used in 4.0 that goes against the cease and desist. Or that there are some development that was intended for 4.0 that they now cannot use.

the casino is still not open, only 2 drugs are in the server, fentanyl runs/events and crates should be reworked imo, no class 2s, no way to get armor other than a battle royale, but they’re announcing 5.0 😂
My prayers have been answered. While I love the content that Prodigy is bringing, I miss what NP once was. Or tried to be again. There is no saving the server in its current state. Everyone needs to just go. Wipe that shit. Get rid of the people in power and leave that shit in 4.0 where they belong.

With nopixels track record it never learns from mistakes and has let problems fester.

agreed 4.0 felt rushed and not finished it was all over the place and no system felt like it was running properly. i can see why some streamers hated it because they invested so much time into it but lets be real 4.0 was severely unbalanced for one side, hopefully its truly balanced in 5.0 i'm also betting this is probably to change their IP as well due to the lawsuits along with other things probably happening behind the scenes that we're not aware of

@@yato_juju8283Assume GTA 6 is released in 2025; this does not imply that FiveM or No-pixel will get it the next day. GTA 5 was released for consoles in 2013, however, it did not come out on PC until 2015.
I'll say while both the sewers and the walk in highly renovated homes were cool, I don't think they added a ton to the server experience and were too taxing on resources for the comparative benefit, for that reason alone I think switching to 5.0 makes sense.
The lessons I hope they learn from 4.0 is facilitate RP, NP is the melting pot of RP servers it should cater to a variety of RP styles, 4.0 skewed too much towards serious crim/serious cop RP and heavy grinding. Make fun and content a priority, 4.0 was too oriented on location and 3d asset updates there was very few things to do and even super simple to implement recreational things like parachutes weren't added. Whitelisting is a good thing, the have nots will complain, but getting the right businesses in the right people's hands creates a ton of RP that really helps drive the overall server experience.

Onyx is complete dogwater, Prodigy and PurpleRP gained alot of traction though, this sounds like a desperate attempt by NP to get the big streamers come back.
I wish they bring back the devs that did a good job in 3.0.

Not trying to be negative about it already. A wipe of server without the wipe of whitelist player it aint gonna make much different because its just gonna be new mechanics and still the same ppl in the server they aint gonna actual roleplay its gonna be the same bs with some new mechanics.
Also a good way to create some hype for NP in general with all the people leaving for Purple and Prodigy

Ah, another cash grab announcement that will cause people to spam buy Prio memberships just to sit in a queue still. Interesting. You know, they could just open more servers to help with the queue times, but no they care only about making money off a game they are not supposed to charge entry for. It's literally in Rockstars ToS that you can't charge people to play on your server, which NoPixel and many other servers do.
Onx started the groundwork for NP downfall Purple laid the foundation Prodigy landed the final blow
So NP will be even more dead in the upcoming months. Expect more people to hop on variety or other servers.
This is when servers like Prodigy, Purple and ONX need to step it up

@smok3y554 They can't, with FiveM/CFX being bought by rockstar the changes in the TOS are no Real Life vehicles, clothing or weapons. Main reason a lot of people played FiveM over other clients like RageMP is due to the real life stuff

From a viewer pov, 4.0 has been shit. Immediately started off with a Dog Eat Dog meta which is aids, everything was rushed no slow burn RP, HOA disbanded…it all sucked.

NoPixel 4.0 was big when it launched. There has been some amazing roleplay, but it seems like after six months the server took a downward turn. Why is that so? There are some instances, issues, roleplay, big names, and decisions that come to mind, but what do you think? ⬇
I really miss seeing rp with people like Squeaks, Burn, Cyr, like where are all the people who create and add to the content? All the content right now is unironically based on in game currency in some way or another, everything comes down to the fact that it takes so long to get money whether you are a cop, crim, or civ. Like cop rp is based around budget, crims are based on crypto and how to deal with fines, and civs RP is just based around clicking E in order to help the cops or crims. It just seems like the system is bad and that really sucks because fanbases end up attacking individual streamers when it really isn't their fault.
So no major heist in the end lmao, mfs built a whole new casino just to not use it 😂😂
5.0 should force everyone to make new characters. 3.0 was so so so good the first few months and also the casino era. 4.0 was good only the first couple weeks.

4.0 was rushed out so nopixel could hype something fresh to get that rockstar gift sub money last December
I love the company, rayc and lysium but what happened to ott was pretty ridiculous, he did a lot of the grinding which was the hardest part of getting what they got and yet they wanted to split everything evenly while the other board member were just middle managers and when he called them out on it they made it seem like he was crazy and they did equal work on it when the job he was doing literally caused so many people to quit while he powered through for the company, it's like being a brick layer building the house while the rest were designers and yet wanted to split the house evenly
There may be a few reasons why it is in development:
1. Rockstar proposed something since buying FiveM and Rockstar wants to help with the dev work for a "proper" GTA RP server.
2. Koil has been losing the court case with DW (you can look at the public files yourself) and perhaps 4.0 has some coding DW worked on in the past so to completely remove anything to do with DW, it has to be built back from scratch.
3. 4.0 was an answer to competition and released too soon. Mechanics and Systems that were supposed to be released had development hiccups (expected in the dev world) and rather than piece meal them together, the team decided to just combine all the new stuff into a major update, hence 5.0
4. 4.0 by far has been the most streamer focused, yet slow burn RP NoPixel server to date. Slow burn RP and content creation for streaming does not go well together usually unless the server is built for that (see WildRP). Too many streamers left for the competition and the streamers that stayed are giving criticism. So they need to restart to incorporate the feedback gained through 4.0
All or none of these could be the reason. We need to just wait and see both as viewers and players.

Would be interesting if it has anything to do with Rockstar buying fivem. Koil has talked about meeting with Rockstar in the past. Maybe "NoPixel" will become the official RockStar RP server or something.
