Whats your point? They all have different nuances. I mean isis was a goddess herself? Mary was a human And from my understanding the hindu one was also godly. The similarity is virgin birth of the saviour. What the saviour did is very different. One has a far richer and far more detailed history supported by facts (not that all of it is factual) one of them gained no power, wealth or fame (in life) and was eventually killed (and resurrected) by humans. One of them never battled anyone or needed to harm anyone. One of them spent their life healing and potentially spends eternity dying on the cross to pay for our sins and forgives us them instead. Two of them sound like normal stories you would hear. One of them sounds like a very unique story. The point of all this isnt to make Christianity look better. It is to point out that surface level similarities mean nothing.
I understand bias, however you have let yours get in the way with the fact that all of those virgin stories have a connection to Mesopotamia. Its early tales and folklore which spread through early information systems that created these religions. All 3 of those faiths have stories directly influenced by those in the near east. Unfortunately your take on Christianity being unique in this aspect is unique only to you. Theres nothing unique about an ascetic miracle worker or flood story. Many historians have connected christian lore to the legends and mythos of Sumeria and its successors as they’ve done Egypt and India. You should engage in actual historical debate instead of just conveniently disregarding it in order to fit your worldview.
@che8866 I am not a Christian. It is just the one that I am familiar with. You have missed my point. Through reductionism, you can make anything sound copied from something else. It's the nuance that sets them apart. Or in the case of the bible it's historical evidence that supports (I'm not claiming its compelling evidence) Ps after reading my original comment back I can see how it comes across as though I am speaking from a Christians perspective, my bad. I do defend Christianity alot but that is just to play devil's advocate
Exactly. And you know why? Because they are all pointing out to one thing only: The Truth: We are pregnant. All of us. But this is the most misunderstood secret in human history... "Seek and you shall find."
Theres the connection to Mesopotamia, theres a connection between these people with cuneiform being the first. So its no surprise that many of the stories are similar, tales and folklore spread through these new information systems which had connected these 3 groups of people. Why do so many religions, including those 3, have some sort of story about a flood? I guess it could be coincidence but i doubt it.
Most people are atheists to some degree. Even people who believe in a religion are atheists in regards to the countless other religions that have existed throughout humanity. L
you can't be atheism towards one religion and theist to other. that's not how atheism is defined. Atheism means to believe in a god, this belief can be held independent of any religion
