I screamed .... PICKPOCKET ... and they vanished into thin air. Everyone on that car apologized to me! I was their target because I was wearing sunglasses and they thought that I could not see well underground... but my sunglasses were prescription and I saw it all clearly.
we had a similar thing happen, in Madrid, I had my backpack on and felt a tug, someone trying to open the zippers, I turned right around and said, can I help you...we stopped and I put locks on my zippers

I was on a Princess Cruise before Covid and in Mexico buying a silver bracelet. The shop keeper told me the credit transaction was in pesos. He tried billing it in US dollars. My credit card company gave me full credit for the overcharge.
Don, You are right about Incogni. I signed up after listening to Kim Komando. The volume of garbage email dropped quickly. My inbox is so empty, I may start getting lonely. 😊
These scammers make us so wary of honest people. We want to believe that everyone is honest, and they play on those "wants". Even though some of your reminders are "common sense", or should be, being reminded is a good thing, especially for those on vacation, who want to enjoy the sights, and are not "thinking". A reminder doesn't cost, but could save much. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
There is only one Don!!! It is sad that you can't be nice to someone without them thinking you are trying to Scam them, but that's how most scam artists get trust by pretending to help.....
Thanks Don - I got the giveaway email. The person attempted to call me with your video running in the background. They also asked me how long I have been watching your channel. I responded to their message asking them questions. They gave up.
I ran a marathon in New Orleans in 2019 and took the trip down there by myself. Spent some time on Bourbon St and got scammed by a shoe-shiner. Found out later that this is a really common one down there. He said he liked my shoes and “bet I know where you got them.” He said if he guessed wrong that I would get a free shoe shine. I let him shine my shoes and then when I asked him where I got them, he said “on your feet on Bourbon St.” And then he said “that will be $20 for the lesson and $20 for the shine.” What was I supposed to do at that point, especially being alone. He said “if anyone else approaches you, tell them I already got you.” I learned my lesson that day for sure!
I got one in my RUclips notifications. I thought it was notifying me that I was the winning comment for the day. I thought it was strange that the video hadn't been up for 24 hours yet.
One time in Vegas there were sawhorse signs on the sidewalk saying "Pickpocket Area". What do most men do - touch their pocket to feel their wallet. YOU just showed the pickpocket where your wallet is! Always enjoy your informative videos.
Never hurts to put out reminders of this stuff. We get comfortable and complacent and the next thing you know we have fallen into the trap. Luckily I have learned from many folks sharing their misfortune and like to try to pass it along as well when I can.
Thank you for the information. I get numerous scam calls every day from the scammers in Sector 5. The saddest part about this is the fact that their government brags about the billions of dollars that the scammers bring in each year.

Another scam I personally witnessed was a guy asking a lady in a parking lot if she had change for a $5 dollar bill. While she was looking for the change, a 2nd guy went up to her and snatched her purse.
Thank goodness we are going to Italy with our friends who live in Europe and speak as well as know how to navigate thru the country! Best if not, go on a tour and check with your tour guide on where to shop and trust! I’m always the sceptic!! Good information for those too naive to scams!!
I had a situation in St. Martin, used a taxi to go somewhere I didn't have change and she the driver starts wandering around, she was also trying to find someone to off load a couple who spoke zero English (felt bad for them) to go see the Planes come in and she didn't want to take that long drive. I followed that crazy taxi driver till she gave me my change, lesson learned go with lots of small bills.
I thought I was fairly savvy with scams, but there's a few that you mentioned that surprised me. The moral is, just be very aware and watch out, don't go dressed as a target especially in areas that are more deprived.

I went to a port in the bahammas, and the tourbus driver was warning everyone not to use the cabs for an Island tour because the drivers was robbing people by gunpoint a few blocks after they start the tour and dumping the people out to walk back to the ship/dock area...some of the times/places the police are in on it and dont do nothing, but pretend to be trying to find the theif/robber
It is really getting hard to Trust ANYONE. There are so, so many scammers now days. I don't even answer my phone anymore, if there is not available, no name and if they do not leave a message. The way things are today, I would only go on the cruise tours. I am glad you aren't asking me for money. I had a call, twice, from someone saying they were calling from Publisher Clearing House telling me I was the big winner, I just had to go to the Dollar Store and buy some gift cards, then call back with the numbers. I didn't fall for it. Thanks for the warnings
That currency issue is real. We’ve run into it multiple times. Fortunately we had phone access to exchange rates. Good cautionary info on high end purchases … and scam situations where we expose where we keep our wallet!
When I go on vacation I have smaller bills for that very reason. So I have exact change. I tip accordingly. Good to know do stuff through the cruise. Good advice taking pictures before and after you rent something. Wow good to know don't let them wrap excuse them say no thank you. Don't take pictures we were warned about that them on our last cruise. Goodness, wow also good to know about the flower scam.

When I went to Mexico, there were kids selling cigarettes, not by the pack but a single cigarette. I not smoke and told them that but they said how about just helping me and give me a dollar. I didn't give and told them no. I kept an eye around us just in case an adult was trying something while distracted by the kid. Always know your surroundings and who is around.
We prepaid for a taxi pick up in Cartagena … they were 45 minutes late but they showed up fortunately as there weren’t any other drivers around - and we made it back on time. We always head back early fortunately

In Paris, a lady came up to us when we were on a cruise and said she found the wedding ring probably from somebody from the ship. When I asked if I can take it back to the ship they said oh no no you have to give me money. On the shift, ran into a couple who was walking down. Basically the same street on the same tour in Paris and somebody fell and when they bend down to help pick them up somebody pickpocketed their wallet. It was all a scam.

When traveling outside of the US and Canada, renting a vehicle becomes RISKY business. I wouldn't do it. Too much liability.
