I hate to be that guy, but actually, atoms are made of composite particles which are made of elementary particles. You can also go further from there. Based on String Theory, elementary particles are actually made of a vibration of a quantum string. It may not be the real name but it serves our purposes. Even though these strings may not be smaller than the elementary particles themselves, they are still made of strings

Until you realize that the theories they present are biased views and don't even bother acknowledging the other theories and views even if it explains everything better but is hard to explain. (tho they explained leptons and bosons well in this vid so who am I to complain, maybe they could explain the harder concepts if they wanted to)

Let's try again - because I feel like it :P - Wipe out all that exists within the "empty space". So no particles, no radiation, no matter. What is left? Well, what is left is "space". They didn't told you in the video, but it has dimensions. That is, it has some size, or well... space, where things can exist. That's the other thing it has. It has the potential for things to exist. In each point of the empty space something may exist. --- Up to there it should be easy, let that sink in. --- Now, the things that exist in space have some magnitudes, such as electric charge, or mass, etc.. So you may ask is there a eletric charge in xys? and in the case of the empty space we would say the electric charge is 0 everywere. But we are also saying that electric charge is a concept that exists and may have a value other than 0. And to that concept of having a value everywhere in the universe we call field. And since all fields are everywhere, they are all ontop of each other. You can imagine the field as a calm infinite pond, and you could imagine that this pond could be disturbed causing a wave that - with nothing stoping it - would carry on forever. That wave is a particle, of that "particuler" field. It is worth to remind that thesewould exibit wave-particule duality, to review the Uncertainty principle if you are not familiar with it, may come in handy. Dig more about void: spontaneus particle creations, virtual particles, hawking radiation. Dig more about uncertainty: Quantum decoherence, double slit experiment, Many-worlds interpretation. --- Now, ideally there would be some particle for each possible magnitude - so there would be a particle for electric charge, for example - but in our universe - as far as we know - many of the fundamental particles have various magnitudes. You may understand this by thinking that waves in one field may cause waves that travel toghether in others. And also, that the interaction of two waves may cause disruptions in other fields. The particular rules of how and when this happens are dictated by the fundamental forces. --- Ok, now... there are two types of particles: Fermions and Bosons. Fermions follow the exclusion principle: there can't be two in the same place at the same time. That is, they "occupy" space (they don't only have a position, that position is occupied by them). So they may block the movement of each other. They are what we would call matter (regardless if it is "anti" or otherwise). Bosons don't follow the exclusion principle: they can pass each other without interaction. They are the main component of what people may call "(pure) energy"^1 or "radiation"^2. ^1: Energy is just something particles have, there is no such thing as "pure energy". ^2: matter can be irradiated, so not all radiation are bosons. Now, there are two kinds of Fermions: Leptons and Quarks. Glossing over the details, Quarks stay togheter by means of the strong force to create Hadrons of which Protons and Neutrons are the best well known. Among Leptons you can find the Electrons and Neutrinos. You may be interested in learning about orbitals and quantum numbers. On the other hand, Bosons may or not be carriers of the different forces... for instance the Photon is a Boson that carries the electromagnetic force (a virtual photon is exchanged during electric atractiction). It is worth noting that there is an hypotetical Graviton that would carry gravity, but since it could only interact with gravity there is no way to detect it... it should not be confused with the higgs boson which is not a force carrier, but it is said to give mass other particles (An easy way to understand it is this: so the higgs boson would interact with other particles and also with the hypoteticla gravitons, and so other particles can be affected by gravity - and the more "mass" a particle "has" the more higg bosons crowd it). --- Hopefully the videos about the different forces complete the picture... because it is a lot to cover and I struggle with some parts myself. Actually I would rather Crash Course to cover this than Kurzgesagt.

Isn't it fucked up how when we study the universe, we notice this logic in everything, everything happens like it should, these rules mould the development of everything that happens, and in this everything, this is how it turns out to be. This, us here in front of some screen watching a video about the universe, humans doing their stuff, building their stories, petty conflicts over who lost the tv remote, someone getting angry because he missed the bus, someone asking a woman to spend her life with him by giving her a donut-shaped piece of metal particles, people ending each others existence over some piece of matter, two humans falling in love, all this on a wet rock floating through space, held in place around a gigantic glowing sphere by the same forces keeping us bound to this rock. All this, while stuff is happening everywhere simultaneously, volcanic eruptions on Mercury, storms on Jupiter, asteroids slamming into some distant planet, shit maybe even some alien discovering that their planet is not the center of the universe. And here we are reading this. Life is weird

The elementary particles aren't made of quarks. Quarks ARE elementary particles. An electron isn't made of quarks, and yet it too is an elementary particle which orbits the quarks that make up atoms.

Now, the things that exist in space have some magnitudes, such as electric charge, or mass, etc.. So you may ask is there a eletric charge in xys? and in the case of the empty space we would say the electric charge is 0 everywere. It is worth to remind that thesewould exibit wave-particule duality, to review the Uncertainty principle if you are not familiar with it, may come in handy.

Now, ideally there would be some particle for each possible magnitude - so there would be a particle for electric charge, for example - but in our universe - as far as we know - many of the fundamental particles have various magnitudes. You may understand this by thinking that waves in one field may cause waves that travel toghether in others. And also, that the interaction of two waves may cause disruptions in other fields. The particular rules of how and when this happens are dictated by the fundamental forces.

Ok, now... there are two types of particles: Fermions and Bosons.
Fermions follow the exclusion principle: there can't be two in the same place at the same time. That is, they "occupy" space (they don't only have a position, that position is occupied by them). So they may block the movement of each other. They are what we would call matter (regardless if it is "anti" or otherwise).
Bosons don't follow the exclusion principle: they can pass each other without interaction. They are the main component of what people may call "(pure) energy"^1 or "radiation"^2.
^1: Energy is just something particles have, there is no such thing as "pure energy".
^2: matter can be irradiated, so not all radiation are bosons.
Now, there are two kinds of Fermions: Leptons and Quarks. Glossing over the details, Quarks stay togheter by means of the strong force to create Hadrons of which Protons and Neutrons are the best well known. Among Leptons you can find the Electrons and Neutrinos. You may be interested in learning about orbitals and quantum numbers.
On the other hand, Bosons may or not be carriers of the different forces... for instance the Photon is a Boson that carries the electromagnetic force (a virtual photon is exchanged during electric atractiction). It is worth noting that there is an hypotetical Graviton that would carry gravity, but since it could only interact with gravity there is no way to detect it... it should not be confused with the higgs boson which is not a force carrier, but it is said to give mass other particles (An easy way to understand it is this: so the higgs boson would interact with other particles and also with the hypoteticla gravitons, and so other particles can be affected by gravity - and the more "mass" a particle "has" the more higg bosons crowd it).

This is part of that everything that has happened. This, us here in front of some screen watching a video about the universe, humans doing their stuff, building their stories, petty conflicts over who lost the tv remote, someone getting angry because he missed the bus, someone asking a woman to spend her life with him by giving her a donut-shaped piece of metal particles, people ending each others existence over some piece of matter, two humans falling in love, all this on a wet rock floating through space, held in place around a gigantic glowing sphere by the same forces keeping us bound to this rock. All this, while stuff is happening everywhere simultaneously, volcanic eruptions on Mercury, storms on Jupiter, asteroids slamming into some distant planet, shit maybe even some alien discovering that their planet is not the center of the universe. The elementary particles aren't made of quarks. Quarks ARE elementary particles. An electron isn't made of quarks, and yet it too is an elementary particle which orbits the quarks that make up atoms.
