- Day 3 at IDET 2017 the International Defence & Security Technologies fair and Exhibition for Army Recognition editorial team with its Online Defence and Security Web TV. At IDET 2017, a total of 390 national and international companies present latest products for military and security forces. The IDET event is very important for the domestic defence and security industries, a traditionally very strong sector that exports around 40 to 50 % of their productions.

@IJN Yamato Check out Leopard 2PL from Rheinmetall "MBT Revolution" program. This one is for Poland.
@IJN Yamato Nope. We have our own program for modernization PT-91 Twardy tank which is now in progress. New FCS with 3rd gen thermal vision (KLW-1 Asteria) and new latest ERA and CERA types of armor - now. Later on:
- new main gun and its stabilization - from Slovakia 2A46MS or Ukrainian KBA3 (both?), with digital-driven AZ-1.
- new powerpack - Serbian PP1200 I guess
- APU, modernized laser detection system and more.
As for old T-72M1, about 500 of those will be equipped with similar systems. Somehow PT-91 will be fitted with a better upgrade setup.
T-72 family mod and Leopard 2PL Rheinmetall MBTs are only a temporary solution since the Polish Ministry of Defense is focused on obtaining the next-gen MBT in the amount of 1000+ units.

BTW this setup far more capable than the Kontakt-5. The closest thing would be ERA made by IBD Deisenroth (Rheinmetall Protection Systems) and used on the Puma IFVs.

all cool and neat but that tech is never going to be in their own millitary, like russia, they have some very nice and neat new tech but its not going to be a part of the millitary, costs too much, they rather stick to the old stuff, and if the buy it they use it in very smal amount for special ops use only

Good point there. T-72B3 has a few such issues which could be addressed very easy without pouring a huge loads of money into the project.

Czech weapons are very effective but the least cool looking weapons in the world. They still have the look of something out of 1965. I wonder if generals buy weapons because they look cool, like we do cars.

the Polish have a way nicer looking and probably better T-72 modernization program then the Czechs.
DerAnus no yeah of course but when your on a budget best to update if u need to. T-72 modernization is more for other countries using that weapons system. If you look at Poland they are trying to get leopard 2a4 so they can upgrade them to the leopard 2pl for their army. pretty hard to get now since there aren't that many. France and Germany are working on a new mbt program that can counter the threat of the T-14 aramata.
the modernization of the t-72 you have seen isn´t in czech armored forces but it is the demonstration model of the excalibour army, which isnt a goverment company. t-72M4 CZ are the actual tanks we are using and its said to be the best upgrade of the t-72 actually, so you might wanna google that :)

Production and research of heavy military industry was canceled in the 90-2000.Tanks factories an howitzer factories werehalf removed from cz to svk after ww2 this proces of industrialisation continues some decades.This was stupid, just my opinion.Slovaks have shit, almost all industry mainly military were by cz before ww2.Maybe sometimes come new era of this industry.Design of new tank or AA is much more expensive than buy it.
