    Enjoy this video today. I saw your newest video where you are explaining why you cannot continue to make them. Very sorry to hear that your videos will be missed.

      Thanks, hopefully I will still make the odd video over summer and maybe a bit of saltwater fly close to home.

      Thanks, I certainly will do and will be doing some more focussed filming when I do film and get some nicer stuff out. Well, hopefully, at least. Looks like opening will be a washout again...hopefully clear up before my first planned trip later in October. I was smart this time and didn't even plan anything for opening 🤣🤣. Hope you get a better start to the season.

      @@CrazyAboutFlyFishing the weather is a little suspect here in the top of the south, mostly windy - but should be able to find a small stream with a few fish 🤞

    Thanks Johan, I enjoyed that, looks like some of the fish had been in the river for a while but good fun none the less, Pawell made good use of his down time hahaha, so wish I was able to get up there, tight lines Neil

      Thanks Neil, yes those fish must have done their thing and will be dropping back to the lake I guess. Hope you are doing well and will get a chance to get on the river soon. All the best.

    Nice video Johan , what line and rod were you using ?

    • @CrazyAboutFlyFishing
      @CrazyAboutFlyFishing  Год назад +1

      Thanks Kevin. It's and 8wt Primal Mega with an Airflo TRC (Tongariro Roll Cast) line, which is also the cast I was using most of the time. You can use the line on a fast 6 or 7wt as well. It makes a huge difference to roll casting and specifically the TRC but also casts well overhead. It's been a game-changer for nymphing on the Tongariro for me.

      @kevinihintz Год назад +1

      @@CrazyAboutFlyFishing thanks Johan , I purchased a TRC line and it casts ok on my 9 '6" 6 weight Primal zone rod but going to an 8 weight sounds like a perfect solution. Cheers , keep up with your good work 👍👍👍

    Hi Johan, looks like you had a good days winter fishing. On that first strike I was surprised to see an indicator! It’s just that particular stretch that always produced some great fish for me using a Yellow Rabbit on a fast sinking line, what they call “on the swing”. Looks like a cold day but when the fish bite who cares? Should be down there in a couple of weeks and am tying wet flies because I am bound to loose heaps. Cheers mate. Harera

      I've done well in there with a rabbit on the swing as well earlier this winter. Especially that area where I caught the last couple of fish. Was a nice day out in the end and started with a good breakfast.

    Saw your newest video ... I think this happen because most of your subscriber comes from your popular short video ... Your video itself is very high quality and suposed to be able to help you afford the hobby itself ... But short video attract too random audiance and not specified audience who actually enjoy your stuff ... The thing is people who watch short video cant stand watching longform video so it will lead to low retention and stuff ... But its been nice your video will be missed ... What about trying to reupload your vid to new channel when you have time as a little project maybe it will do better ... Love from Indonesia

      You are right about the short videos. Messed up my channel. I made them private a while back and things recovered. I made a few public again recently just to see what would happen but they didn't get views anymore so I made them private again. Regardless I have never had enough views to make any significant $$ from ads. The only real option is selling stuff or sponsorships. I'll see what summer brings. I'll probably just make videos when I can over summer when I am doing trips anyway. I still like making videos.

      @@CrazyAboutFlyFishing yes .. switching to longform vid from popular short is very hard .... Even some popular short creator with 4m subs barely able to get 30k views consistently on their longform videos ... Once those subscriber from short became your subscriber they normally will get notified about your longform vid ... But their retention is very low if they watched it ... And < 60 s short video is designed to be kept in our short term memory that's why maybe most of your subscriber ... Possibly forget they even subscribed to you ... those stuff accumulated and youtube Ai decided that your channel in whole is bad ... The sudden impulse to subscribe when they found a good short and misclicking subscribe button when they try to scroll down ... I don't want to say this but channel with a lot of inactive subscriber is pretty much doomed if they want to rely on ad revenue ... in this time with massive amount of new creator everyday ... This is the conclusion that I made ... It could be wrong but seems logical to me ..
      no one know how RUclips works anyway ... Take your time on these stuff after sometimes maybe .. maybe one of your longform video will gain some traction ... when that happen I recommend to make some vid again and ride that wave .. hopefully it will recover ... anyway Will watch summer vid if they get to my dashboard ... have a wonderful day .. stay healthy and be strong 🙏
