This one has been fun to do over the last few weeks. To celebrate Williams F1's eSport team's involvement with @racing_prodigy I thought I'd blend it with my extreme level of geekiness, love of Formula 1 and retro racing gaming.
So here is a selection of F1 games, 14 of them, through the generations. 10 different consoles, 1 8-bit home computer, 1 MS DOS PC, 1 Windows XP PC and 1 Windows 11 PC. All original games played on the original hardware using the controllers I would have used at the time. The only exceptions to that is the PS2 had way too much lag through the capture card so played it on PS3 with a DualShock 3 controller, and my MS DOS computer can't capture sound so I played Grand Prix 2 via DOSBox. As a basis for comparison I've used the Monaco circuit in time trial mode on each game as that track has barely changed across all of these games. The video shows the captured gameplay, plus POV showing me playing using the controllers of the time.

As a lifelong gamer, motorsport fan and occasional karter my gaming history is heavily biased towards racing games. From Chequered Flag on the ZX Spectrum through every major home computer and console since I've played and still own most racing games you care to mention. This love of arcade, simcade and fully simulated racer led me all the way to winning a real world racing driver contract with Racing Prodigy and their incredible e2Real competition. They are on a mission to remove the barriers into motorsport and show that money and age should not stand in the way of the dreams of talented young....and old racers! I'm looking back at some of the games that were part of my journey leading to winning my pass at Prodigy Week via Street Kart Racing. If you want to see my story then check out this video • Racing Prodigy - How y... and if you want to take advantage of the opportunity for yourself then head over to racingprodigy.... now or download Street Kart Racing on your local iOS App Store.
