During the 0-60 mph trial, anyone who drives a manual gearbox can easily get that Mat has been releasing the clutch quicker than it is supposed to. So the time was getting better not because the rear tires were warming up but Mat was getting used to the clutch. There is no shame in that though. We all have converted to automatic cars over the past years and it is sort of confusing for all of us from time to time. So Mustang being Mustang, a great-looking car with a naturally aspirated engine. Yes, there are better-performing cars but Mustang will always be the dream car for most of us.
These circles at the front grille are spots to install round fog lights of your choice (as an homage to the original Mustang Mach 1 from 1969). Greetings✌️
The reason for the mode switches only toggling upwards is a safety feature. You could easily either by your hand or dropping something during driving accidently land on the toggle and push it down changing modes which is not helpful or safe when in mid drive. Therefore they only toggle upwards. There could be better ways of doing it (lock mode when car is not idle) but still, it's fine.

A classic Mustang, the real "Pony" car. I was 9 years old when the original Mustang was introduced, so it's been around my whole life and I'm glad to see it still produced (unlike the sad demise of another Ford, the Thunderbird). Just a comment, while Ford spent some time and money to produce attractive rear seats on the Mustang, they have NEVER provided practical seating for adult passengers. I had a Mustang for a while in college and used the backseat mainly for carrying luggage and packages. It's really meant to function as a two-seater personal sports car (though the closest most here in the States come to a raceway is an Interstate Highway); most only see use around town or on state highways.
Great review. For the money the Mustang is an amazing performance vs value proposition. The fact a 6 speed manual is available is a big plus for me. It is definitely on the short list for my next RWD car with a manual. BTW this Mach 1 definitely needed a hood scoop or shaker hood.

'VW group' includes too many brands. This Mustang won't hold a candle to something like an A5, but will compete with Skoda or VW especially the newest iterations (looking at you, Golf). Actually sat in a Mustang at the dealership and was pretty surprised by how soft the materials were overall. That being said, the pre-facelift model was worse for sure especially without the premium package. I suspect that's the one most people heard about.
@@xIcarus227 this this mustang will devoid its biles of fecal matter on an A5. The RS5 would be a different story only from a dig. But with the 10 speed auto it's anyone's game. Also a 2020 RS5 is anywhere between 75-90k right now😂. There's people making 800-1k HP in mustang GT's for that money. Mustangs aren't luxury vehicles. They were meant to give the average working person great performance for dirt cheap. Now society is turning the dang car into a European POS. Porsche will strip a car and charge people more for it. BMW lies about the engines. Audi only has its quattro. Mercedes is just too expensive. The mustang wasn't meant to compete with these vehicles. The fact that it can keep up with these brands on a track is what makes it able to be mentioned. That's one thing about European, "car enthusiast" when one aspect gets taking off the table, another magically appears. I.e you take performance off the table and European, "car enthusiast" will start in on the interior. 🤣
I am getting 19.5 MPG in the US. The slot to the left of the steering wheel is for your sunglasses. In US. The Mach 1 is 480HP/420TQ. Bummer on the cup holders over there, from the left hand drive it works good for a drink and not getting in the way of the fantastic transmission. Love this car, total blast to drive and has room for us fuller fingered folks.
Love how Ford didn’t bother moving the parking brake or the Column adjuster release lever to the drivers side for UK models, just took the left-hand-driver steering columns to the right of the vehicle 😭
I saw that too and I was thinking, I don’t have that issue in my car… HA! It’s a small price to pay. I’m sure they are thrilled to have the Mustang available now in UK. The Mustang is the #1 selling imported coupe in Germany. The Germans love the Mustang. Coming from a country that produces the cars they do, that’s as high a compliment the Mustang could ever receive from the international community…
My favorite modernish mustang is the Ford Mustang RTR, they should make a 2022 RTR. Seen it in person and it’s VERY fast and sounds beautiful, and the front grill looks amazing. This Mach 1 is…ok…
@@ChantalAnn-Marie Same in the Netherlands :'(. Currently looking to import one from the US. Even more. I work at a Ford dealership, we sold one a couple months ago for about 125k. And a normal convertible automatic with options for 117..... crazy
I have the standard 5.0 V8 GT. 30/32 mpg all day long driving normally. Comparable with most German bruisers. Auto is best, no doubt about it. These are generally Sunday / funday cars but perfectly useable as a daily. Buy one, you won't regret it, makes you and others smile!
Interesting, a stock Mustang used to have 460hp and the first year Mach 1 had 480hp. The US version had 460hp. Sad. The 10 auto is quite a bit faster. I like the fact you attempted the 0-60 with the manual.
At the press conference for the Mach 1, one of the workers said the blank circular bits is an option for the fog lights but also can be used for a intake tunnel for owners who are willing to upgrade the engine. They also said it’s basically a kit car for Ford owners to have an easier access and ways to modify the Mustang with already upgraded bits from factory.
Those two plastic circles are cutout blanks for the addition of the retro fog lights as were on the 69 mach. They can also be modified the create ducting to direct additional cooling for the engine albeit this car does come equipped with a remote engine oil cooler. The gearbox is also a Tremec not the MT-82 piece of junk that's in the regular GT.
21 is excellent for that beast. I averaged 15.1 in mine and that was with considerable amount of freeway miles. 21 MPG tells me the tach never climbed over 4k! That’s excellent!
27 is poor. I had 26 mpg in a Ford focus 1.6 2007 last year. (was supposed to be better but I guess it was older and spark plugs may have needed to be replaced). I had 33 mpg on a 2017 Nissan qashqai 1.2 litre turbo. Again real world was a lot less than what you read on. I've now jumped onto a 2009 Toyota prius since December and get 55/56 mpg. That's what I think is good. I drive 39 miles to work and then 39 back so a Prius has been great for saving money!
I don’t feel like reading 1700 comments to see if it was brought up, but the Mach1 uses the Tremec from the Shelbys, and not the Getrag of the regular 5.0
Can you finally include the consumption in liter per 100 km? You already do the conversion for brake tests in meters, why not use a proper, metric measure that most people use?
Great car and a nice review as always. I think the only problem with the Mach 1 is the waiting list to order a new one. I believe it's around 1 year at the moment! At least it was when I went to a Ford garage to enquire about one last month.
My dealership has one, been sitting since last fall, reduced a couple thousand from the sticker price, they're too busy selling everything else at markup prices. Edit, actually just checked they are now selling it for a couple thousand over, it was previously reduced.$76,000 Cdn.
Mustang GT is such a unique car in a Florida , just like a uniform looks unique in an army. You can spit in any direction and can be sure you gone hit right on a mustang
I like the Mustang, but I think the Mach 1 is overpriced. It sounds fantastic, and there's no rev limiter. I wish the standard Mustang GT had a Tremec 6 speed manual transmission instead of the garbage Getrag manual transmission that shouldn't be on any car.
The Tremec 3160 is a better driving transmission but it isn’t any more durable than the Getrag MT82. The internet over blows the MT82 problems. My 17 GT makes 611 wheel and I can bang gears at 7700 rpm without issue. My MT82 is doing great.
Love the mustang, it’s good value for money for a V8 powered car if you want a bmw with a V8 it’s gonna cost 100k at least, the C63 is 76k so compared to the Germans it’s great value for money and you can rev it all the way out, thank you Ford
To be fair, BMW's bread and butter is the in-line 6. All of their current track-focused M-cars are 6 cylinders. They really only use v8's for the high-end "look at me" models that most of their customers don't buy. Whenever I think Mustang, I think V-8. Whenever I think M3/4, I think I-6, except for the e92.
@@TheLegend-xh1mmThe hell are you on about. The handling package I have comes on sport cup 2's. I have a spare set with PS4S and even then, you can floor it at the beginning of a corner and it won't lose traction. I quite literally outrun GT3RS's in the mountains.

@@xIcarus227 hi S 🙏
@@smackledorfmcsween The Mustang still has all the power than A5.
Those front circles in the front of the grill are there to create a wall to slow the car down besides it being an option for lights i guess.
I'm such a mustang fan girl 😭😭😭❤ this is my ultimate dream car I got so excited seeing this review lol
cute
Same, except I am mostly fond of the S197, that's what I'm looking to get now. Can't wait
@@_-Anthony-_ tbh I think the 5th gen stang is the best one but they're not sold in the UK, only import 😩
@@ChantalAnn-Marie Same in the Netherlands :'(.
Currently looking to import one from the US. If I find one that costs about 10k euros in the US I'll end up costing me about 5k extra to ship it here and do import taxes etc.
But here in the Netherlands it's impossible to find one for that price basically, so it's still the best option.
@@_-Anthony-_ the price isn't terrible i suppose but could be alot cheaper if it wasn't for the fact that you meed to import, specially with the way the car market is atm 😬 6th gen mustangs are sold here though luckily
Matt the two round holes you talked about are then for a couple of extra headlights you have seen models before this with extra headlights but well be that the extra headlights have been extra equipment on this monster of a fast Ford Mustang Mark 1
4:55mi wtf ? :P crazy boy :D
Hey Mat, can you review the Toyota GR86?
1:35 they must be for additional lights, like shelby
The covers are removable for extra cooling when running laps on a track👍🏽👍🏽
For me best classic ever and one of best sound engine ever. I Love "Old school", cars that evolve but maintain the charisma and soul that always characterized them. I Love all muscle car, for me, muscle cars from the 60's and 70's are my all-time favorites, most mediatic cars that can exist
The blanked out circles in the front grill are for upgrading to twin turbos. You can mount them behind the cutouts and plumb them in under the hood.
In Holland this car would be double the price, but at
Even more. I work at a Ford dealership, we sold one a couple months ago for about 125k.
And a normal convertible automatic with options for 117..... crazy
@@_-Anthony-_ In Holland?
@@AllAhabNoMoby Yep

De Nederlandse automarkt is helemaal verpest door de waanzinnige BPM bedragen. MRB is ook erg duur, al helemaal als je diesel rijdt 😢
Love this car...nicely sculpted..sounds thunderous
I have the standard 5.0 V8 GT. 30/32 mpg all day long driving normally. Comparable with most German bruisers. Auto is best, no doubt about it. These are generally Sunday / funday cars but perfectly useable as a daily. Buy one, you won't regret it, makes you and others smile!
Can confirm 3rd party smiles. Not sure if elation or sympathetic smile 🙂
Holy crap 30/32 on gt? My ecoboost gets 25 at best lol
9:10 Matt rubbing the metal knobs of his jacket on the fenders made me crinche.
4:52 that lil realization look just cracked me up!!
Interesting, a stock Mustang used to have 460hp and the first year Mach 1 had 480hp. The US version had 460hp. Sad. The 10 auto is quite a bit faster. I like the fact you attempted the 0-60 with the manual.
Uk spec lose power due to different headers being used to give clearance for the steering column.
US spec GT still has 460 hrsprs for 2022. I have a 2021 GT. Also the US Mach 1 still has 480 hrsprs.
20HP more than a GT, for the price I'd rather get a 3 or 4yr old GT350. Still it's good to see Ford keeping the V8 alive.🐎
Was there an oil leak after that rear seats test?
🤣🔥
No, an oil spill... xD
It's not, in any way, shape or form, a "kit car" for Ford owners. Stop listening to marketing morons at pressers.
The 2017 one is my all time favourite aka looks so classy
Those two plastic circles are cutout blanks for the addition of the retro fog lights as were on the 69 mach. They can also be modified the create ducting to direct additional cooling for the engine albeit this car does come equipped with a remote engine oil cooler. The gearbox is also a Tremec not the MT-82 piece of junk that's in the regular GT.
I wonder how 21mpg is considered poor, when my 1.4 is doing 27! Anyway great review as always.
Perhaps because a M278 with similar power would do around 30?
Mondeo diesel 60 plus
An englishman making a better review on an American icon than most American journalists. 👍🏻👍🏻
Also, that Chappelle metaphor was spot on! 😂
Its actually a proper Mustang This time, really good looking and it has that proper mustang feel😀
I don’t feel like reading 1700 comments to see if it was brought up, but the Mach1 uses the Tremec from the Shelbys, and not the Getrag of the regular 5.0
Ford absolutely nailed it with the looks . It's stunning
Can you finally include the consumption in liter per 100 km? You already do the conversion for brake tests in meters, why not use a proper, metric measure that most people use?
ruclips.net/video/rDdkqzJzxww/видео.html
21 imperial mpg is about 13 L/100km.
I agree though, would be cool to not need to google it every time.
When you review an American car, you've gotta use freedom units.
@@CaseyCollier Actually, they are not "freedom", they are imperial....

Yes, I know. It was just a joke.
Great car and a nice review as always. I think the only problem with the Mach 1 is the waiting list to order a new one. I believe it's around 1 year at the moment! At least it was when I went to a Ford garage to enquire about one last month.
Shorter than the waiting list for me w/ the Lightning. Because I didn’t get on the wait list early last year I was told 2024 was most likely 🤦🏻♂️
My dealership has one, been sitting since last fall, reduced a couple thousand from the sticker price, they're too busy selling everything else at markup prices.
Edit, actually just checked they are now selling it for a couple thousand over, it was previously reduced.$76,000 Cdn.
Almost every Ford dealership within a 50 mile radius of my home has 1 or more new Mach 1's on their lots.
@@sirfriendzone1228 Shame they didn't have any a year ago when I was looking :(
They've absolutely nailed that 5L V8 and exterior once again. Great redemption after the Mach-e's bloated horror show (IMO).
6:35 - manual reach around :))))
Those black circular caps in the grille open up to allow more air into engine bay
Finally someone who understands. They're to keep engine temps down on the race track.
*This is not an American mustang this is a beautiful beast* 🔥
It’s funny hearing him call this large, here in the states it’s a small sports coupe.
It's a muscle car
this is THE car. Real engine, real sound, manual transmission
I love how Mat does his car reviews❤
Always funny in all his videos 😂
Whenever I think M3/4, I think I-6, except for the e92.
every time I see a mustang I scream like a Beatles girl.
Why?
The circular bits are where the plastic would be cut away for extra lights. Look at the Mustang GT race cars. You’ll see it.
The way you stuck 2 fingers in there and looked at it afterwards is chuckle enducing.
If mustang is upgraded with v10 supercharger 775 bhp , 900 nm then it is clear winner 🏆 🥇 🤔
it cant even put the 460 to the ground, adding hp really doesnt help here
@@TheLegend-xh1mmThe hell are you on about. The handling package I have comes on sport cup 2's. I have a spare set with PS4S and even then, you can floor it at the beginning of a corner and it won't lose traction. I quite literally outrun GT3RS's in the mountains.
