After finishing watching Kingdom, I feel so empty. This anime is truly a gem among the pebbles out there, and as ridiculous as it sounds, I did learn a few things from this show. Xin's positive outlook on everything has affected me. What he sees is a true eye opener in dealing with situations as a leader. If only this sort of optimism was taught more often, the world would be a better place. This is going down in my list of all-time favorites.

right? Kyoukai was supposed to cradle her sister's severed head, not her entire body. It has much more impact that way. Not to mention, even in the anime, it showed the scene where she finished her off by decapitation, yet when the sister finds the body... it makes no sense that way, not to mention breaks the immersion.
They also cut back grossly on the erotic content, such as sexual exchange between Ryo and the queen, and in essence, removed much of the story's depth. It seems the animation studio is targeting a younger audience than the mangaka, all but tossing out the seinen aspects.
The beginning of Kingdom kind of sucked because of the 3D models but they took it out later on in the first season, but overall the anime is really great !!!
The manga is 10,000% better than the anime IMO, in the vein of Slam Dunk. I never got through the crappy CGI section so I dunno about the second part but they've already skipped a few really important sections and even at least one fairly significant arc entirely. I also don't like how they turned it into a pure shounen kids' show for the anime, personally. The manga is one of the most brutal ones I've read. Just FYI if you like this series also check out "Vinland Saga". Another very cool manga with a similar (though maybe darker/grittier) feel to it and a lot of plot elements in common.
I also hated the 3D animation, it makes the characters look like stick puppets, bouncing up and down, and corrupts the beauty of the original art, which was designed with a 2D templit in mind, and thus does not transfer well to 3D. All weird and blinding effects aside, I suppose its also a matter of preference... in which, I admit, I prefer traditional anime.
I was one of those people. I didn't hate it, but I just thought it would suck. The animation was "different" and the first scene was 2 kids carrying baskets past a battlefield, so I thought it was weird. I actually dropped the anime at that point, but later decided to get a second look... then I saw Wang Qi and loved the show ever since.

+Su Nguyen only when they just move around. when it comes to battles, the poor quality CG strikes and fucks up everything. the CG was half descent in scenes that you can count in 1 hand. for epic manga like this is very disappointing. i'd prefer if this anime had the animation+art quality of One Punch Man, and One Punch Man had this low quality CG animation. i wouldn't give 2 fucks if One Punch Man had low quality CG animation. it's mediocre manga anyway

+MrSuperpoder sorry it was wrong info about season 3 coming. there is an American movie named kingdom too and it's getting a third season and I mistakenly thought that it was the Anime. however , it's not like it will get a third season. It takes time to cover 200 manga chapters to 30 episodes. it will get a third season by the end of this year , I believe. and what I said about the third season covering the greatest arc in the history of manga , that was no exaggeration. I've read the manga , and that arc is by far the best arc in kingdom.

He is supposed to be a simple person on the rise. From slave to foot soldier 300 man general, it's all about progress. I am a little disappointed that he's not wearing the armor he bought after the first war though.
foot fast True! the anime first season wasn't so well cuz it was so hard to sync the actions and dynamics of manga but the second season did it !! (not so parfectly but not bad at all )
+foot fast cause unfortunately it gets adaptated by a low budget studio. i know animes even before 2010 that have way better animation. it sucks that epic manga like this get adapted by low budget studio, and mediocre manga like One Punch Man(especially the original manga, not the redrawn one) get adapted by very good studios like Madouse
another bad thing is that a lot of things from the manga are missing from the anime. for example, when Shin is at the borders of Chu(last episodes of anime), they have small fights with some Chu soldiers and 2 young 1.000 man commanders, the battle of Yan vs Zhao is more detailed, and the one that Riboku meets in the meeting in the forest is teh prime minister of Chu. the anime only shows a part of him, but the manga shows him whole, and it says that he's prime minister of Chu, etc etc things missing. as a manga reader before anime came out, adaptation was bad imo. even the 60th something place it has on top anime on myanimelist is surprising. potential is way higher. with a spot on adaptation and nothing left from the manga, and a good quality 2d animation, both seasons have potential to enter in top 10 or 20. 3rd season that has a big war that is 3 times more intense and badass than Bayou where Ouki died, it can easily enter in top 10. i'm sure that those that read the manga agree with me

Ahmed Ibrahim i didn't expect anything better with Pierrot. someone has to burn that shitty building to the ground. they butcher any anime adaptation they do the animation was ok in season 2 when they were talking, but there are cases that it was beyond bad, and it was in fight scenes(for example when Xin and Ouhon were both fighting with Rinko. i wanted to gouge out my eyes). and the censor? fuck you Studio Pierrot. also they left out lots of things from the manga. Studio Pierrot: assassination arc? nah, skip it. fucking losers. i wish Wit Studio had picked this one instead of AoT. i don't want Madhouse cause they'd do 1 season and stop
i think back when they did it the people who do the 3d graphics scored a contract with the owners of the anime.sadly i dont think they will be going soon.
Graphics are great, music is great, story is great, characters are great, development is great, build up is great. Everything is great in this anime show, in other words this anime got spirit.
Knowing the history really ruines the series XD (I still love the Manga though) when Shin promises to the dying Mangoku that nothing like Chanping will ever happen under his watch, it's just the saddest thing, because in real life, Li Xin (Shin) and Ying Zheng (Ei Sei) were both monsters who would go on to commit many other atrocities just like it.

I liked season 1 which had the 3D art I did not like. I love season 2 now even more. + the ending by The Sketchbook(sket dance is one of my favorite anime ever) I just dam love it :D
I only wish I could talk to the subbers... regardless of whether historically the man is named "Bi" if it is written in the manga and spoken in the anime as "Heki" then the subs should reflect that, otherwise it makes no sense. I always find this anime so confusing, when reading along the names I hear and the people speaking don't match the subs at all.
I would like to add, that generally, I don't complain about sub quality, as I am not taking time out of my life to do it myself, but I believe even if you are doing something for the sake of others, you should at least get the most basic of characterization necessities, names, correct.
i think we should first grasp the fact that one of Japanese writing system kanji(or hanzi in chinese) is originally adopted from Chinese language... while the same kanji character is read as "Bi" in chinese language, it is read as "Heki" in japanese language.. even though im also cnfused at first,i think the subbers are just doing their job,translating from the japanese language
for historical accuracy, for authenticity the subbers did this. I think it isn't a bad idea. honestly, the people watching subs shouldn't really complain as long as it's consistent. japanese language consists of chinese characters called kanji. These characters are originally chinese, but in japanese they are read differently. Since the characters of the anime are chinese, they decided to use the chinese language to read the character's names.
NO1xANIMExFAN The subbers are not doing it correctly, because they are not translating a history text, they are translating a manga/anime; loosely based on history yes, but distinct and different none-the-less. The manga/anime says 'Heki', and because they are translating the manga/anime, and not a historical text, the subs should read as thus. This is neither the first nor the last time a fictitious story has been created on a historical event/person with the names of characters and places altered. For instance, 'Xin', the real life general from Qin, did not save his king from his brother's rebellion, but 'Shin' from the universe of "Kingdom" did. Thus if we are to be historically correct, we cannot use 'Xin' when describing this story's main character, because in history, 'Xin' did not pull off the same acts that 'Shin' does in the story.

I wish they would've kept the gore from the manga to the anime. Wayyyy more intense in the manga with heads flying and guys getting cut in half, damn.

Foreal the anime looks weak compared to the manga what a shame. They could've done it like hellsing with keeping the gore and stuff.

I was one of those people. I didn't hate it, but I just thought it would suck. I always find this anime so confusing, when reading along the names I hear and the people speaking don't match the subs at all.
I would like to add, that generally, I don't complain about sub quality, as I am not taking time out of my life to do it myself, but I believe even if you are doing something for the sake of others, you should at least get the most basic of characterization necessities, names, correct.
i think we should first grasp the fact that one of Japanese writing system kanji(or hanzi in chinese) is originally adopted from Chinese language... while the same kanji character is read as "Bi" in chinese language, it is read as "Heki" in japanese language.. even though im also cnfused at first,i think the subbers are just doing their job,translating from the japanese language
for historical accuracy, for authenticity the subbers did this. I think it isn't a bad idea. honestly, the people watching subs shouldn't really complain as long as it's consistent.
japanese language consists of chinese characters called kanji. These characters are originally chinese, but in japanese they are read differently. Since the characters of the anime are chinese, they decided to use the chinese language to read the character's names.
if you don't like the sub, then don't watch subs at all. OR, u can mute the volume. cause the subbers are doing this correctly.
NO1xANIMExFAN The subbers are not doing it correctly, because they are not translating a history text, they are translating a manga/anime; loosely based on history yes, but distinct and different none-the-less. The manga/anime says 'Heki', and because they are translating the manga/anime, and not a historical text, the subs should read as thus. This is neither the first nor the last time a fictitious story has been created on a historical event/person with the names of characters and places altered. For instance, 'Xin', the real life general from Qin, did not save his king from his brother's rebellion, but 'Shin' from the universe of "Kingdom" did. Thus if we are to be historically correct, we cannot use 'Xin' when describing this story's main character, because in history, 'Xin' did not pull off the same acts that 'Shin' does in the story.
