I have always been a fan of Martin strings for acoustics. I think the tension depends mainly on the string gauge; thicker gauge = more tension. That really depends on what your fingers are used to. I have found that 10 and 11 gauge string sets work well with this particular guitar
Guitar Newbie thank you I wasn’t sure how many you may have had a chance to test and Although I like Martin strings I am a diehard elixir fan so I’ll probably try a 10 gauge elixir phosphor bronze set to see where it stands Thanks again!
Good review , thanks for that . My guitar shop are fronting up the APXT2 as a travel guitar and they say it might be suitable for a child / beginner ?. Apart from the pick ups and being a bit more expensive , is the APXT2 a realistic childs / starter guitar - especially in comparison to this one ? Thanks , Gordon .
Hello Gordon, so sorry for the delayed response. That sounds pretty interesting. I have actually never played that guitar so I cannot comment on it. I am always interested in learning about new equipment however, and if I can get my hands on one I'd love to compare. The JR2 is fully acoustic so it doesn't have any pickups, which does make it hard to play in a setting with several other instruments. I have however used this guitar with one of my 6 year old guitar students and he seemed to like it a lot. It fit very well with him physically. I'd say he is an "average" sized 6 year old.
Hello. Happy new year! Thank you for this video! I purchased the Yamaha F310 and its too huge to play on. Still trying to get my hands on something a lil smaller. Any suggestions please?
Happy New year! Glad you enjoyed the video! If you're looking for something smaller to play the Yamaha JR2 is a great guitar. I've had it for 3 years and love it. For a small guitar it still produces a pretty big sound. There's a link in the video description of you want to check it out! Good luck and let me know if you have any more questions
@@guitarnewbie6333 much thanks :)) just purchased the Jr2. Sounds loud enough. Now need to get started on playing it since i totally quit cos of the F310 being too big. So i always thought nahh the guitar aint for me lol. How wront i was.. but better late than never. Gonna learn it this time )))
3/4 is refering to scale length of the neck not the entire volume (the body itself is less than 75% of the standard volume)
Thanks for clearing that up. I did not know that. Always learning
Hi! Thinking of buying my first guitar and maybe sharing it with my brother to start a new hobby. Thanks for the video and the link!
Sorry for the delayed response Giselle. That sounds awesome! Let me know how it turned out if you ended up purchasing it. Good Luck!!
What strings have you found to work best on this guitar to keep the low tension and playability without too much tension on the guitar?

Hi guys. I am planning on buying a guitar and as a beginner which do you think will be better for me, F310 or JR2?
It would be nice to hear what you are trying to describe. A picture worth a 1000 words. Let's hear the guitar more than 1 % of the presentation.
