One doesn't need to go to orphanages to find fragmented care of children. This is standard among parents worried about sustenance. Most children have parents who both work full time - some have two jobs to keep afloat. Many have insecurities around housing and basic health care, long commutes, etc. Welcome to the making of a sick society.

interesting speech, thanks for posting it. Would be nice to get a little more info on the control group i.e. whether they were from upper, middle or lower income families. I guess the amygdala reaction is different in those groups, which I suppose is another topic for research, but anyway...
The research that I've seen tends to say that patterns of abuse toward children are not any more prevalent in one social economic group than another. That being said, everyone knows the "power" of money and how the wealthy (upper class) can seemingly make their "unfortunate events" disappear by simply shaking the money tree.
