    It's too bad that Barry Berkus died. Nevertheless he left behind a legacy to all mankind, to profit from it. He was a great architect!

    Walking with the eye is a very interesting idea. When I looked up to that massive void in a cathedral, its like you inhabit that massive space with your eyes and imagination instead of with your body. Like how your brain simulates how you could move through a space or perch on a ledge, and architecture can guide your eyes to journeys beyond your own bodily limit... unless you do parkour of course

    I love how he doesnt fill the whole paper with the blue of the sky. Because what matters is the relationship between the blue colour and the outline of the drawing, thats all you need to make out that there is a blue sky behind it.

    It is interesting that most of old people recommend drawing hand free more than on the computer, I have old teachers who say that very often, and I just wonder if they are actually right or they just went like this all their life so now is more natural for them to be able to design this way.

    • @dangergranger1
      @dangergranger1 10 лет назад +10

      Drawing by hand allows for non-linear thinking, in a nutshell provides far more scope to think outside the box and develop your design more creatively and naturally than using a computer which is far quicker - but also far more logical and results in a usually far less interesting and effective design. That said I find computers a great way to test ideas when there is no time or resources for hand modelling, and also for creating workbooks, layouts and computer rendered images when the project is nearing completion.

      I think it depends on how you master the art of representing what is in your mind flow, because as fast and fluid your ideas and imagination develops and "pops out " in your head, the more is needed to have a practical and prompted art skill.
      Most of Old people professionals masters other type of tools than new ones. There´s no better tool in absolute, its just a kind of having the right practice with it.

      ***** What if I draw in paint on a computer with touchscreen? I find it to be the exact same but better because you don't make any mess when you erase, you have access to all different colors without spending money on markers, and you don't waste paper but my teacher said it wasn't the same.

    • @dangergranger1
      @dangergranger1 9 лет назад +1

      ***** To be fair digital art programs offer a far more similar experience - I was referring mainly to digital design programs ie. sketch up , revit etc- Sketching is a far more free and natural experience allowing less straightforward thinking - have also had many ideas arise from overlapping sketches on a page by accident or from overlapping trace

    The problem is that the international style is so prominent. Most skyscrapers and other buildings are just boxes. Try to compare Shanghai with Tokio, New York City with Chicago, and you'll find out that the skyline of all the cities is identic.
