What I would like explained in detail is the generations difference. Lots of confusion about what that number is and what it means and how it applies, how you use it, etc.

Thank you for this video, Andy. Maybe comparing my mother to one of her maternal cousins through her grandpa will help me to find other matches that are through her grandma. I sure hope so. I'm not giving up hope!

Sharing 15cM in a single piece can be considered reliable match? What about over 20cM?

Above 7 cM could be considered reliable. It will now be the difficult task of building your family tree to a shared common Ancestor.

Thank you for this informative video. Is there a way I can save this video to reference from time to time?

I have been doing some DNA mapping so that I can identify where new matches could fit in my tree. If I choose a known, say 3rd cousin, and use the shared match tool, is it safe to assume that all DNA segments, coming from our shared matches have been passed on to myself from our shared ancestor couple?. I understand it may be complicated by eddogomy but I don't think there is any here. Can I map all the DNA segments as coming from this ancestor couple and their ancestors? Thank you

It's a safe assumption to start with until you have something that throws that assumption out the indow.

Honestly I doubt the accuracy of these DNA matching tools. I am Hungarian from Hungary all of my ancestors are relatives are Hungarians I traced back almost all of my family lines to 7-10 generations, only Hungarian names were found. However, I get thousands of matches on GedMatch 98 % of them are white Americans, with English, Swedish, Dutch, German heritage. I am a blue eyed, light haired, fair skinned person so it's likely that I share pieces of DNA with these people, but it's simply NOT TRUE that they were my 3rd - 5th cousins...
I contacted some of them and they do not have a single Eastern European ancestor, and I don't have a single Western European ancestor... Our DNA's only match because we are of white European ancestry. Anything shown beyond 2nd cousin level on GedMatch is just statistical noise and pure speculation...
