    Alternatively you can choose image>canvas size and change the width. Rather than the crop tool. Written steps for this tutorial here: photoshopcafe.com/how-to-create-an-eclipse-sequence-in-photoshop-complete-guide/

    Thanks, Colin. This is just exactly what I needed to get the spacing organized in a very straightforward manner with guides and rulers, which I don't use often enough to remember the tricks you showed.

    Excellent and quick workflow for Solar Eclipse 4-8-2024! I chose a wider canvas, created a diagonal of images UL to LR with 99% totality in the middle, pattern was trajectory of the sun through the afternoon sky. Added a text layer for labeling. Final image effect was truly beautiful. A wonderful day to experience and remember! TY for this tutorial, Colin.

    Thanks Colin. I'll try it on the next eclipse in the UK! Meanwhile, the use of guides to set it up will get used elsewhere in my image compositions - really helpful tip!

    👍🏻 Thanks for this tutorial. I will use the technique described (in a similar way) to map the lateral surface of a body rotating in front of the camera onto a flat plane. Let's see if it works.

      I know I'm missing something, after you use the rectangle tool to figure out your spacing, how do you get rid of it. All I have is marching ants around my eclipse, no matter what I do it stays there.

    Thanks Colin! This is fantastic! I did something similar with a lunar eclipse but didn't get the guides set as well as you did in this tutorial. I'm going to follow this exactly. I'm about 150 or so miles from the path of totality but will get 97.6% obscuration where I'm at according to the path map on Time and Date site. The weather people are giving 40% chance of thunderstorms for the 8'th, but in East Texas that's not assured until that day LOL. I just hope I have clear enough skies to get some good pictures. I have my solar filter for my 300mm lens and I'm ready for it!

    The tutorial was quite helpful.
    However, since the image with totality was taken without the camera filter, it doesn't blend with the adjacent images that were taken with a filter.
    Can you explain this process so the sequence looks seamless?

    Thank you!

    • @photoshopcafe
      @photoshopcafe  5 месяцев назад +1

      I didn't make one on a curve, but you could use the pen tool to draw a curve,
      Put the sky at the bottom in place of the black layer, make sure the sky is dark or it won't work as well.

    Thanks Colin. I suppose that with such high focal length it is not possible to frame something on the foreground. So, between using a wide angle lens OR doing a composite adding a foreground to a panorama similar to yours, what do you think would be the best choice? Thank you!

    Colin, could you have a look at Content Aware Fill with Additional Image please? It's in 25.7 beta at the moment, and I did not know about it till reading through the Beta Feedback panel. So far I have not been able to get the additional image to interact with the original image, and it crashes Photoshop on my one year old i9 13900K, RTX4080 system every time I click on OK. If anyone can make it work, then it's going to be you and Jesus Rameriz (who I have not asked so far). Thanks.
